Went to a friend's wedding here. 2021 is the year of weddings! Hummingbird Nest is a BEAUTIFUL venue. When you drive up, it may look like the world is desolate and incomplete, but once you get behind the gate, you're placed into a gorgeous, rustic, Pinterest/Instagram worthy ambiance. Hors d'oeuvres were delicious with a great team making sure guests are fed, soused, and having fun! If you get the chance to attend or have a wedding here, I'd highly advise against getting the filet mignon. Cooking steaks en mass is difficult, my steak was over cooked. I had a very disappointing experience with Hummingbird Wedding Hall, and unfortunately, it impacted what was supposed to be one of the happiest nights of our lives. From the beginning, we were given verbal assurances that the event would go until at least midnight. Based on that understanding, we planned our entire wedding timeline, music, and flow of the evening. However, on the actual night of the wedding, the staff abruptly shut down the music at 10:30 PM -- cutting the celebration short with no flexibility or consideration. When we tried to address this, they pointed to fine print buried deep within a long, 10-page contract -- something that was never clearly explained or emphasized beforehand. Instead of working with us or honoring what was discussed, they relied on technicalities to justify ending the night early. It felt misleading and unprofessional. A wedding venue should prioritize clear communication and delivering on expectations, not hiding behind small print after the fact. The way this was handled left us stressed and frustrated on a night that should have been joyful and memorable for the right reasons. I would strongly advise future couples to be extremely cautious, go over every single detail in writing, and not rely on verbal promises -- because our experience showed that those promises may not be honored. read more

This is definitely one of the most idyllic and beautiful wedding venues I've ever been invited to and the grounds are absolutely GORGEOUS. It was great to be a guest at my best friend from childhoods daughter's wedding today 10/25/25 and we really enjoyed ourselves! The appetizers were plentiful and there were mermaids at the seafood table. The ceremony was incredible under the chuppah and the bride and groom were beaming. They had a 10 member band belting out Earth Wind and Fire tunes. The dance floor was gathering a lot of moisture from the humidity so they kept mopping it between sets. The food service was slow and we didn't have our main course until 9:30 pm but who cares about the food when the out door area is so picturesque! It was a truly magical evening!! read more

I came here for a wedding and the setup was beautiful. I know they shoot many shows here like the Bachelorette, so really cool to be able to experience where they shot the shows. Parking lot was pretty close to the Villa and it was nice that we were able to get valet parking or just self park. Exceptionally beautiful venue -- absolutely stunning! I haven't personally used Hummingbird Nest for an event (yet!), but after visiting the property, I had to leave a review. This venue is breathtaking. Nestled in the hills, it feels like a private oasis -- serene, elegant, and straight out of a dream. The architecture, the landscaping, the mountain backdrop -- every corner of this place is photo-worthy. Whether you're planning a wedding, a private event, or just touring venues, Hummingbird Nest is worth seeing. It's the kind of spot that leaves a lasting impression. Even though I haven't worked directly with their planning team, just being on the grounds was enough to know that this place is something special. Servers don't serve they just stand around, refill soda jugs, and clean up plates...these types of venues are supposed to have full service, they serve drinks and food for you personally. You spend all this money and your wedding cake can't even get distributed to the other half of the party, coffee and tea was cold, so was the food. When we first booked Hummingbird Nest Ranch we were off on a rocky start. The prior management and point of contact was disorganized and all sorts of whack making us wonder if we made the right choice. However, Nicole came onboard and everything fell into place. During Covid she was super compassionate and accommodating and that made such an impact that we were glad we picked Hummingbird. My only gripe with them is the approved vendor list because you the catering company we chose (Furiwa) was a nightmare to work with from the beginning right to the week of the wedding! We found them before they became an approved vendor and as soon as they became approved the pricing they gave us jumped up because hummingbird prices are different they said and this was only the beginning of a terrible ecperince. They were so greedy and were the only vendor that gave me anxiety in an already stressful situation. I don't want any other couple to experience what we went through so hoping hummingbird works with its vendors to ensure that they work with the same integrity, values, and compassion. Also while staying in the villa - a random guy entered our friends room and was definitely on something! We told security about it because it was so scary!!!! I grew up only 20 minutes west, and this place is one of our area's best kept secrets - Hummingbird Nest is the gem of Santa Susana that most never knew existed. Here for an early evening wedding that rocked on until midnight on a Sunday, we really enjoyed this multi-faceted venue. Vows on the terrace, cocktails near the rotunda, then dinner on the expansive grounds overlooking all of the Valley - this place has a special ambiance so beautiful & impressive. The open-air and natural elements of Hummingbird make for a feel typically reserved for destination weddings. The interesting rock mountains that surround the property are mesmerizing and create a setting alike to Red Rock Canyon or Palm Springs. Best of all, events here feel so private. There's not much going on north of the 118 in this area, so it's as if you have the canyon all to yourselves! read more

We went to see this as a potential wedding venue and we LOVED everything about it. There are several gorgeous locations on the property. The villa itself is large and beautiful, then the Grand Prix grass area is huge and can hold up to 1000 and there's another part of the property with a barn, grass area and lake. All gorgeous and private! Positives: Gorgeous private locations throughout property, 24 hr site rental, party can go with music until 2AM, 3 bedroom villa included with rental. Things to note: DIY wedding must coordinate with rental company, catering company, valet and security etc to build your event & $5000 to secure date. We ended up going with another venue due to our budget, but if this place is in your budget, do it! It's beautiful and Trent (our tour guide) was very nice and down to earth! read more

Absolutely an amazing venue! Attended a wedding there yesterday. I'm not easily impressed..... but, this place is truly beautiful. It felt like a set from a movie. There was a very calm feel being in that surrounding. The different areas for the ceremony, cocktails , and reception were spectacular. Every corner is a nice picture opportunity. It's not often you'll get the opportunity to visit a venue like Hummingbird Nest. Fortunately I've been able to attend a couple of corporate parties/events over the years here and both times I've had a great experience. The grounds themselves are breathtaking. It's really a hidden gem just off the 118 freeway. You would have no idea there's a tremendous mansion and field located in the back hills Simi Valley. After exploring the grounds and the mansion I began to recognize scenes of this place in TV and movies. The views of the grounds are stunning to say the least. I know they hold music festivals back there which seems like the perfect venue for something of that nature. I'm sure the cost of an event at Hummingbird Nest is not cheap. However is $$ is not an issue, Hummingbird Nest has the high end feel and seclusion that a special event would ever want. read more

We've been to Hummingbird Nest Ranch twice so far. First time was for the Kiwanis Kick-Off Pancake Breakfast for the Round-Up Country Music Festival. Held in the two-winged barn, it was a really fun event. Being on the property, viewing all the stunning natural scenery, and many venue buildings as we drove to the barn, was a tantalizing taste of what the ranch offers guests. We did some walking around after the breakfast and took some photos of the grounds. Really impressive spread. We returned in April for the actual Round-Up event. The lawn space available is so massive that even with a healthy crowd attending the concert, it felt like they were barely scratching the capacity. Hope to have a chance to attend a wedding here one day. I'd expect it to be magical. read more

Such an amazing property! We came for the Simi Valley Roundup Country Music Festival and had a blast! Perfect venue for such an event! The 3 stars are because this venue really needs to pull it together for the exit strategy! We paid $20 to park at the ranch rather than opt for the free shuttle parking from the high school...well getting out was a joke! They didn't accommodate that many cars yet it took over an hour to get from the grass parking area to Kuehner! What the heck! They had us exit going around the vendor area rather than back the way we came in? MADE NO SENSE AT ALL! Just pissed us off! We thought that paying $20 to park at the ranch was more like a priority parking? Very disappointed, they need to plan ahead and orchestrate a better exit strategy just saying.... read more

Hummingbird Nest may seem beautiful but they're super shady and are only after your money. They are rude and untrustworthy! They do not respect negotiations and contracts. Their goal is to get your deposits and change everything on you on the last minute, ruining your big day. They also use security that harasses and disrespects guests. Also, my "non-smoking" room smelled like cigarettes and the A/C was broken. They did nothing to fix this or reimburse me for my stay. I've been there many times and they're really not good people at Hummingbird. They lie and their security treats you SO poorly like you're an animal (my husband almost got kicked out of a party for just dancing with me on the dancefloor...). They will tell you that they're doing everything according by county law but I was just there last weekend for a wedding and there were no rules and no security and no masks required, but a party that I attended in August with half the amount of guests had crazy rules that were not disclosed to the bride and groom until the day of the wedding! Crazy. Anyway do not trust them for a second. They're a bunch of liars and will steal your money and then try to defend themselves. Trust me!! This place has the absolute worse staff. Director of Events, Nicole O was a complete joke! She didn't seem to have any clue what she was talking about and getting a hold of her was the biggest challenge of all. She doesn't respond to anything, emails, calls nothing! There are two younger people that work with her that seem just as lost as she is and just trying to make excuses for her not getting back to me. Management is just as bad! When I asked to speak to them I was told that the manager, Jackie doesn't like for her number or email to be given out so there was nothing they could do. Are you kidding me? Their required vendor list is a joke! They literally provide a single vendor to use for some of the services, no exceptions, no buyout fees. This means you have no leverage to negotiate with the vendors. Alcohol which could've costed me 3k is now costing me 15k at minimum. To top it off you can't even choose your own wine! They've contracted with a specific winery and you're restricted to that. I've paid over 29k JUST for alcohol, security, and valet. HORRIBLE! Their recent changes are HORRIBLE. They even force you to pick from just 3 rental companies. By the way, all this implemented very recently. read more

We were also able to make the event our own... not cookie cutter like a ballroom! DONT TRUST THE VALET!!! My fiance and I attended a wedding here a couple months back. We had a very expensive pair of RayBan sunglasses stolen from our car from the valet. It was a pair of sunglasses that I recieved as a gift from my fiance on our anniversary. This place is truly a gem. One of the most stunning locations in all of LA. My fiancé and I feel in love with Hummingbird Nest after attending a party there in early 2012 and it became one of our top choices for our wedding venue. We reached out to the wedding coordinator Michelle around January and were provided the cost for the location. Although on the higher end of venues, it was still in our budget and worth checking out. After proposing in April I immediately began looking into venues. I contacted Michelle again to book a tour. She was very difficult to get a hold of and quite slow in returning my messages. She emphasized that the venue cost didn't included valet, security, etc. Her attitude seemed to imply that we couldn't afford the venue. Perhaps she had forgotten we had corresponded several months prior? When we finally met Michelle for a tour she couldn't have been more rude. We called her cell to confirm we were in the right location and she didn't answer. A few minutes later we saw her coming from a different entrance, talking on her phone. She gave us the "one minute" sign and reached out to shake our hands without even getting off the phone. She then said to the person on the call (allegedly the owner) that she had to go so she could "make them some money." Classy. The entire time she seemed annoyed to be showing us the grounds and was acting like we couldn't afford the place and they didn't want our business. Not only did she spend the 30 minute tour of the property texting on her phone but even made a few rude comments to us. When we inquired about availability, she was dodgy. This year was booked up, but next year (the cost was going up 25%) they had some openings but she condescendingly implied that was because nobody booked that early. It's really a shame that she is representing a property so lovely and magical. The last event we attended we spoke with some lovely people that worked for the ranch. I can't speak for anyone else's experience, but none of the Yelp reviews are from someone who has actually thrown an event at Hummingbird. Yes, the location is five stars, but the hassle of dealing with the coordinator is -5 stars. She is 100% the reason we aren't booking the location and the reason for the 1 star. read more

AMAZING! Found them on WeddingWire. From start to finish - the whole experience at Hummingbird Nest Ranch was above our expectations. My husband and I knew we wanted an outdoor spring wedding and when we started to do our research, Hummingbird Nest Ranch was the first place we looked at. During the site visit, we absolutely fell in love (how could you not). Since we had a smaller wedding (125 guests) we decided to have our ceremony on Pepper Lawn and reception in the cobble stone area. It was absolutely breathtaking! The process of contracts and deposits was painless and cost was exactly what we had expected. We also went with their preferred caterer - Command performance, and to this day we still get compliments on how delicious it was! Nicole was incredible. From start to finish, so always made us feel so welcomes and day of she stopped by many times to ensure we had everything we needed - she even opened up the bridal suite an hour early so we could start on hair and makeup. We were the only wedding on the property, so took photos everywhere. What other venue has so many sites? The Villa, Lake, Barn, it was amazing. HIGHLY recommend staying the casita the night of. They are so fun and convenient for you and your bridal party. I would ABSOLUTELY recommend this venue to anyone looking for an amazing place to get married! I live off Kuehner and I NEVER knew that this place existed. From the freeway exit, you drive towards the hills where you think nothing is there. I thought it was a farm or something not a freaking ranch mansion! Great for ceremony/reception weddings or other large or corporate events. It's perfect for outdoor weddings. You can take advantage of the natural beauty surrounding you. This venue can hold 1000 people...maybe more!! You enter through a gate, drive up a curvy road, then all of sudden, BAM! A glorious spanish-like mansion. My friend had their ceremony at the front of the house, equipped with a beautiful staircase and water fountain. The reception was below on the HUUUUUUGE grassy field, with the beautiful Simi Valley hills surrounding you. You must provide your own vendors/catering, but is absolutely worth it if you or your parents have money to spend. By far the most beautiful wedding I have ever attended to date. read more

We looked at nearly 20 venues in the Southern California area and Hummingbird Nest Ranch stood out from all of the others. Both sides were beautiful and we got married on the Sitting Bull side. Our ceremony was at the Olive Grove, cocktail hour was at the Cobblestone area and the reception was on the Peppertree Lawn. We really liked that there were three distinct areas for each segment of the wedding which we looked for in a venue. Our guests and vendors raved about how beautiful the location was. The location was "site only" which was fine with us as that offered us flexibility for our vendors and theme we were going for. Note, as of May 2021, if you want to go through outside companies for catering or rentals, you have to pay a buyout fee, which we ended up doing for catering. Also, you are required to use their winery, preferred security and valet company, which were fine to work with. Additionally, Hummingbird was the most flexible site we found in terms of restrictions and guidelines (sparkler send-off, noise curfew, drone footage, etc.). Overall, Hummingbird was a stunning site to have our wedding at. The couple drawbacks were on the day of the wedding, there were multiple mice in the bridal suite and also where our vendors at their meals. Also, the bridal suite is older/outdated. Overall, the venue was beautiful, functional and felt like we were in our own private space for our wedding/event. We would recommend Hummingbird to others without hesitation! read more

I have to say I live in the valley and I never knew such a gem existed. This venue is so different! It's in Nature and it makes you feel different than the boring old traditional venue do. I went to a wedding over the weekend and the bride built the area out with her own chairs tables, bars, and etc. The wedding looked like something out of a magazine. Tucked away in the hills of simi valley you would never know this place existed unless invited.. An enormous 123 acre property is just breath taking.. This place was recently up for sale for 50,000,000 so this alone will tell you want a place it is.. Driving into the white fenced long drive way you are winded into the main mansion which sits on top a little hill over looking the front lawn which by it self could hold 5000 guests.. continuing past the mansion you will past the full stable facility,, which then leads to guest faciltities which then leads to the bungalows past the lake and on and on.. Positioned in such a perfect location you feel like you are far away is some secluded ranch and all that surrounds you are the rock filled mountains of simi. Although a very cool place, beware to come here with invitation only, for this 50 million dollar property comes packing with heavy security well decked out in all black suits, looks like a scene from a movie and maybe that movie was filmed right here, since they do alot of filming on the grounds here.It is private property so you would have to either pay the heavy heavy fees to use the grounds for an event or be invited to one..
