A small local Chinese restaurant in Chapel hill that I only heard of through a friend. Great Cantonese style cooking. Not incredibly busy or fancy decorations but sufficiently clean and acceptable dining experience. I'd rate it lower in terms of dining experience due to the ambiance if the food wasn't good but I think for Cantonese food in this area this may be one of the best. The boss is very friendly and the staff told us about the fresh vegetables and ingredients they had for the day. We were able to order dishes off the menu and they were delicious. Would go again.

Peking Duck was incredible. I think it is a restaurant worth recommending for its cleanliness and friendly service.

Since moving to Durham I haven't been here in probably twenty years. We come to Chapel Hill a lot, but just forget about Hunam. Today, we remembered. Don't be deterred by the outside. If they'd get a new awning it would look just fine. The inside is bright and clean. Some of the staff is friendly and some seem as though they're new or just don't know the menu. I had the shrimp chop suey prepared chow mein style. I wasn't sure what that meant and when I asked the waitress she didn't know. She went back to the kitchen and looked very confused. She said it came with noodles & rice. Turns out it was noodles, but they gave me rice. That's ok. It was very good and enough to bring home for leftovers. My spouse had the shrimp and broccoli, which she enjoyed and also had enough to bring home for another meal. Neither of us cared for the soup, hot and sour was too much vinegar and the egg drop was just too thick. We would like to come back another time and explore more of the menu.

    seafood noodles - yum!

I was weary coming here because of the poor reviews, but it's actually quite decent! You can get authentic Chinese food here, it's also not spicy because of the region of China that the owner is from. The coconut shrimp was really good, big and juicy pieces. If you're a fan of duck - I recommend ordering it! The skin is crispy and the meat is juicy, also full of good flavor. We also tried the seafood noodles, which come with many veggies and it sits on a bed of crunchy noodles that soften with the sauce that the dish is cooked in. That was also really good - huge dish so that'd be one to share.

It was a short walk from our lovely hotel (the Carolina Inn), but started raining when we first walked out the door so we called an uber which was a very short ride. We were seated right after arriving and I had a nice glass of wine and my daughter a diet coke a few minutes later. The menu looked like a sharing type of meal so we opted for: - pork & chive dumplings: yum - spring rolls: tasty, but my stomach (as always) regretted the fried food the next day - bento box: the hit of the meal - shaking beef: i thought pretty good, but my daughter wasn't a huge fan The service was good and the food was brought out at the perfect pace. While I'm sure their dessert is yummy we opted to walk down Franklin street and enjoy some Ben & Jerry's after dinner since the weather had cleared up.

Service was outstanding throughout our visit, and Lantern's softly lit, intimate setting makes it the perfect spot for a date night or just to escape the Carolina heat. Everything about our visit was wonderful, and the prices were more than reasonable for a meal of this caliber. An amazing find in Chapel Hill!

Parking couldn't have been easier. We found a space right out front in the lot off 9th Street and walked straight in. It was a quiet Thursday afternoon, so we were seated immediately. The dining room has an elegant, relaxed feel, and with only a few other diners it made for a peaceful lunch. Lunch for two came to about $80 plus tax and tip, making this one of the more upscale lunches we've had recently. We ordered: * Crispy Brussels Sprouts * Shrimp Dumplings (6) * Mongolian Beef * Grilled Lemongrass Hanger Steak Salad * Unsweetened iced tea The Food The Crispy Brussels Sprouts were a great start. They were crisp on the outside without being overcooked, and the mint, peanuts, and pickled onions added both texture and freshness. It was also a large enough portion for leftovers. The Shrimp Dumplings were excellent. The flavor was outstanding, and the Thai chili oil, garlic, scallions, and sesame worked beautifully together. My only criticism was the portion size. At six small dumplings, they felt a little pricey for what you receive. The Mongolian Beef was probably the best value of the meal. The beef had a nice sear while remaining tender inside, and the portion was generous enough that we had leftovers for another meal. It had a nice overall flavor as well. The Grilled Lemongrass Hanger Steak Salad was good, but not quite at the same level. The steak had good flavor, but the cut itself was somewhat chewy. The accompanying rice was simply prepared and didn't add much to the dish. The flavors were enjoyable, although slightly sweeter than my wife prefers. Service Service was excellent. Our server took the time to walk us through each dish, explaining ingredients, spice levels, and preparation so we could choose items that fit our tastes. We especially appreciated her knowledge of the menu and her attentiveness throughout the meal, my iced tea was never empty. Overall Juju offers an attractive setting, excellent service, and several very well-executed dishes. Our biggest challenge was simply that much of the lunch menu leans toward spicier offerings than we typically enjoy. While we probably wouldn't return specifically for lunch, the dinner menu appears to offer a much wider variety of choices that fit our tastes. We'll likely be back to give dinner a try.
