They must have changed owners or cooks. We used to love Hunans. The last two times we've come, it's not good. Wonton soup has no flavor. Sesame beef is way too sweet and wayyyy too heavy on the red pepper. It used to have a crispy meat with a sweet & savory sauce. Now it's soggy And over sweet. The Oil needs to be changed on the crab Rangoon and egg rolls. The Mongolian beef is bland gravy. The dining room is always closed now. We won't waste a trip again. read more

Used to be good. Came in on a week night and with a group of 8. They sat us and then a table of 4. Only three tables of people in the whole restaurant. The waitress took the order of the table of four and was serving them food before noticing that we were here. When we called her out on it she became very disgruntled and short with us. Other than the soup and egg rolls, our food was over cooked and tough. Food had a bland flavor and almost every order was supposed to be spicy and was not at all. In the spirit of full disclosure, my friend's family owns this restaurant, but I would eat here regardless! Sure, it's not 100% authentic, but I've been to China and will take Hunan's any day over 99% of the food I had there! All of the dishes are delicious and aren't too oily. I especially love the hot and sour soup, almond chicken, and moo shu. The kitchen is good about taking special requests and the staff are always friendly. And the lunch specials are a steal. I come here basically every time I'm back in town. I think my mom moved into the office building upstairs just so she wouldn't have to drive to get her fix. She is seriously addicted. All around, this restaurant was not good. I walked in with a coffee, and she took it from me because she didn't allow outside food. After we sat down I took awhile for our table to be acknowledged and take our drink order. Our entire table ordered lunch combos, and all of our soup was cold. Also, I ordered the Moo Shu Chicken, which was supposed to come with pancakes. Instead they used tortillas. I live in California, where there is an abundance of Chinese restaurants, but I can't find scallops as good as the Red Rose Scallops that they serve here. This place may be in the middle of Nebraska, but it definitely can compete with some of the places in Oakland and San Francisco. read more

My favorite place to eat in town. Foods always good would recommend you get takeout if you don't like to tip as they are big on that. But calling ahead with an order is easy and they are accurate. Also the employees are kind to children. My daughter became sad she dropped her cookie and they gave her 5 more. I recommend anything on the menu it's all good especially the drinks. read more

Had a large group to feed. Ordered 7 or 8 dishes to go from Hunan. Everything looked the same when we opened the containers! It seems like they have one sauce and use it for all their dishes irregardless of what you order. We had a very difficult time figuring out what was what ? I ordered Kung Pao Chicken. It didn't look or taste like any Kung Pao Chicken I've ever had before. We all sampled many of the dishes. They pretty much all tasted the same. None of them tasted very good. read more

Hunan always delivers good food. The service is sometimes hit or miss. I usually get the tofu with vegetables. One downside is that they switched from serving fried rice with all entrees to normal white rice. read more

As much as we eat at Hunan's you would think we love it. Well sometimes we do, sometimes not so much. We have been fairly regular customers since the place first opened, we went to the location in Grand Island even before Hastings had one. The food has always been inconsistent, particularly the hot and sour soup, sometimes it's fabulous, other times it's been like dirty dishwater. Generally we're pleased though. Typically we get the food as takeout as its ready very quickly and the dine-in experience has not always been the best. There seems to be pretty much a revolving door in regard to the help and cooks which might explain the inconsistencies on the food. Bottom line: I've had better Chinese food on occasion, but generally Hunan's is pretty good. Good portion size for a decent price. read more

The first bad sign was the dishes on the table had dried food stuck on it, second the steam white rice was a shade of yellow not rice. isnt steam white rice supposed to be white? the third and final sign was that I almost ate glass! Yes thats right -when i took a bite of food there was a shard of glass in it. We notified the waitress and owner and yes they did the right thing by comping that dish but come on....so be forewarned go somewhere else....your health should not be compromised! read more

I enjoy Hunan's in Hastings a lot more compared the the Hunan's in Lincoln. I love the seafood combination in Hastings. I have tried the same dish at Hunans in Lincoln and it does not taste the same. Hunans in Hastings does a great job. When my dad was alive he would always take us to hunans when he was visiting from California. read more

I travel a bit for work every month, and Hunan's is as good as any Americanized Chinese eatery as I've been to. Their food is always on point and staff has been great every since I moved to town 10yrs ago. The owners truly know what they are doing. I do have one gripe and its a preference for than anything; there are no windows and the dining area is dark, like nightlight on the wall dark. I understand this is what some people like, but for me its a hygiene thing, a bug thing. Again the staff upon my request let me view the kitchen & it was spectacularly lit and clean as a whistle. But I only order take out, I'm NEVER disappointed. read more
