Best Chinese in this neighborhood. Not saying its so special or authentic. If u want authentic, u go China town. Fresh ingredients, I can tell. If you put the left over food in the freezer and eat after couple days it would be still good. Their food dont have that distinctive odor that u can find from other Chinese food left over. Till this day Hunan Cottage is providing me with delicious asian dishes and awesome black bean sauce. The egg rolls are perfect every time, and yes, I need my egg roll fix every time I place an order. All of the chicken dishes are delicious every time. My favorites include chicken with mixed vegetables, chicken with mushrooms and chicken with broccoli... all done with their black bean sauce of course. The shrimp with lobster and roast pork fried is a favorite mix of mine, but you must ask to have their black beans (beans only) added to the shrimp with lobster sauce. Nothing better than getting that lobster sauce all over that fried rice. They have an awesome double cooked pork dish and their crispy honey chicken dish is very addicting! If you ever happen to be the vacinity of this fine eatery, stop in and place an order. Oh yes, on a side note, the woman who works the front of house said to me that she saw my picture on Yelp and actually brought it up. Most people would never say anything, but she did and I am glad that she did. It felt good to know that someone who I see from time to time when I am purchasing dinner remembered me from my profile pic. Lots of credit for that. She and her staff are good people. i have a lot of fond memories here. first of all, this is only the 2nd Chinese joint on this block. it was pretty depressing that everything around me in Bensonhurst were Trattorias or Greek Diners. Chinese food in Brooklyn is sketchy. i dislike it a lot... although, Hunan Cottage had more appealing choices- and i always ordered their pan-fried noodles with shrimp/veggies and gravy on top. it's delicious! other than that... one summer, my best friend and along side my cousin came to visit me from Seattle. we walked by this place one night and decided to give it a whirl. whether it was nostalgic moments or the heat of the summer... we were enthralled in laughter and happiness for a good hour. the servers were patient, helpful, and even joked around with us too. i'm happy they made all our experiences there a good one. read more

I really hate to have to leave a bad review but unfortunately I have to. I placed an order and in hopes to try and find a new Chinese food place to order from and from all the reviews and 4-5 stars I have to wonder, do the people who wrote these reviews have taste buds? The food was terrible! From the soup that tasted like dirty dish water, to the flavorless food. The wonton soup was terrible, the wontons had absolutely no filling in them. The broth was disgusting! I ordered roast pork fried rice! And what I got was white rice with tons of soy sauce added to it for color! No roast pork, no flavor nothing! The chicken and garlic sauce was miserable! I ordered a large and I got a half order in a large container, no taste of garlic and the chicken was shredded! Beef and broccoli terrible, again no flavor! Not enough juice and way more broccoli than beef. Fried dumplings were so over fried you couldn't eat them! Let's just say, I will not be ordering from here anymore! Save your money! This chinese resturant has been there for years and is old style great! They are known for their sliced roast pork with brown gravy and sesame chicken and I have never goten a bad dish there. I eat chinese food all the time but keep comming back to this place. Great steemed vegetable dumplings too. read more

Good food but too pricey on weekends, I go during the week to catch their specials for 5.00 and some change. They give you a large amount of food with the specials. That's the only time I'd eat there though. Make sure to go during the week otherwise you'll be paying way too much over the weekend. read more

Next thing I know, I'm biting into a flavorless meal. How does one make the sauce so evened out that the sauce is plain? I really enjoyed going to this place. Tasted good and gave a good portion as well and the prices were perfect. There was a worm on the back of an orange given to me they tried saying it was a noodle but once he actually looked he started talking in a different language to the one who gave it an was apologizing to me. The worm was alive as well and just completely is the biggest turn off to any place that serves food especially when it's on your food. Such a shame. read more

Moi Shu chicken was delicious the chicken tasted like it was charbroiled great smoky flavor and all the ingredients were fresh. Their spareribs are meaty and moist. This place is my favorite Chinese place!! I love the food because it's always fresh, the delivery is always quick. Prices are great. Everything I have ever tried I have enjoyed. The staff is super nice. I wish they were open 24/7 and I most likely order from them wayyy too much. They always remember me and what I ordered and they are just the best.
