I'd give it a 2.5. Friendly service but beyond that not great. This place use to be good years ago and I thought I'd give it a try again. Wish we had a good Chinese buffet close by. If one opens that's clean and has good quality food it will do so well. The lo mien noodles were overcooked, the quality of the meat for the entrees is not good. I'm a big fan of their chicken dishes and the food at the buffet stayed very well refilled and freshly cooked while I was there. I ate more than I usually eat, because I wanted to try all the dishes I could, and it was all cooked right and had good ingredients. The restaurant interior doesn't feel cramped. (The parking lot does, a bit.) The building is a little run down, but the staff were super nice. Overall: it's a good quality Chinese buffet. Definitely worth the money. read more

The hubs decided that he wanted to go to a Chinese buffet and after looking at the choices --which there weren't many locally, we opted to go to Hunan House. We hadn't been in quite some time, so we thought we'd give it another try to see how it was. We were seated right away and soon enough our dining experience began! Though the decor is more than a little dated, pink is the main color in the scheme, and the window blinds are somewhat broken throughout, the food was quite delicious and there were several options to pick from on the buffet bars --quite a few chicken dishes, actually, some seafood and maybe one or two beef options. The price was rather reasonable for the two of us to eat on a Friday night, so bonus for that. The place was rather busy, which meant the turnover in the food was high and things were most often found hot on the bar --a rarity these days when it comes to buffets. read more

Not so great. We went for the lunch buffet. The hot and sour soup was almost gellatinous. The apps in general were lacking in flavor. Moving on to the entree items, everything could have used more spice and seasoning. The sesame chicken and general gao's chicken were sort of like chicken McNuggets in thick, overly sweet sauce. Lots of things on the buffet were mislabeled, so I was guessing at what I would get in some cases. The tofu and vegetable dish was chewy. Nobody goes to a Chinese buffet for the desserts, but these were subpar even by that standard. Stopped in for take out. The restaurant was nice for a buffet place and smelled amazing. We placed the order and it only took 5-10 minutes to be ready. The girl that took the order and ran the register was a bit rude and seemed irritated that she had to remove her iPod headphones and that we wanted more than 2 packs of soy sauce. The food on the other hand was very good. They used fresh celery, carrots, and broccoli in their dishes and the wonton soup was pretty good, but the crispy noodles were stale and not so good. Overall I would order from there again, but I would definitely suggest their employee get a few more customer service skills. read more

Incredible portions of average Chinese food. Great for college students! Just as it sounds, the food is pretty run-of-the-mill as far as Americanized Chinese food goes: not bad, but also not good. What I like is that the portions they give are HUGE. For $12, I easily get two full meals' worth of food, and finding this place was amazing as a college student! Their staff is very friendly, although they didn't speak a lot of English. I will add that they are one of the few locations in the New River Valley to have Hot Pot, and it's really good Hot Pot, too! read more

Authentic Chinese Buffet...?! The person I called and was served by was clearly Chinese. Good sign. I ordered egg rolls, spring rolls and dumplings. Who doesn't like a dumpling? And then we ordered the typical sweet and sour chicken and general tso's chicken. We got it for take out. Definitely not my favorite Chinese food that I have had. The egg and spring rolls were basic cabbage and stuff inside, but nothing special. My daughters favorite food is dumplings and she said the dumplings were "...good" but then quickly followed that with a "but not that good" in my opinion basic and soggy. Now I was surprised by the chicken we ordered. General Tso's was $2 more but it was all dark chicken (which disappointed me) and the cheaper/standard sweet and sour chicken was made with white chicken. It just seemed odd to me. The breaded tso's chicken was sweet, mildly spicy and a little soggy and it was a little too chewy (over cooked) and I don't like dark chicken much. So decent but disappointing. Just because it's a Chinese buffet, hello?! I would go again for the price and choices and it's close to my house , but will likely pick something else that I know will taste better. read more

This place sucks DO NOT EAT HERE! I ordered food at 8:00 telling them id be there at 9:10 to pick it up. I was traveling and hungry as hell. The food looked old and the egg roll and crab Rangoon was stale but I was too hungry to pass. I returned to my hotel room and ate the food. At 2 am I woke up with horrible pains and threw up a little. Then I got terrible gas and at 4 am I started puking everything I ate up. It was the most painful and worse smelling vomit ever. I managed to fall back asleep and had chills and pains and more gas along with diarrhea all the next day. Finally it stopped around night time so was about 16 hours of torture. I hate this place! Who sells old food, that's just bad business and irresponsible food service. It probably had E Coli or Salmonella in it. I have a strong stomach so for me to react like that is unusual! This is your typical Chinese Buffet with the usual variety. I would like the food on the buffet to be hot rather than just luke warm. The service is ok, basically all the servers have to do is keep your drink glass filled and they do that very well. The employees are friendly and attentive. Really there is nothing that sets this place apart and nothing really to complain about. I will probably go back occasionally but I would not make any special effort. read more

Visited the first time today, and was disappointed. Food was the best part, but some of the food was drenched in oils and butter, which likely attributed to my upset stomach after the meal. Our server said they serve Coke products, but the drink menu on the table listed Pepsi drinks. Thankfully my "Coke-Pepsi" was decent enough. When getting drink refills, the server poured it from a pitcher that touched our straws. How many other straws get touched when she pours drinks? That's a big health code violation. You can't tell the staff anything because they either don't speak English or they act like they don't, so my party and I did not say anything. I was in work for Christiansburg and decided to give this place a try since I love a good Chinese buffet. I asked to check out the buffet before I sit down. Boy, I am glad I did! All the food was deeply fried and drowning in oil.There was not much selection and everything looked very non-appetizing. The atmosphere itself left much to be desired.
