This week I had a bit of an internal struggle between this and another truck but before you know it I was placing an order and waiting for some wings and fries.The food didn't take long to come out and once i found a seat I bit into my first wing and I have to be honest, it was a little underwhelming. The chicken itself was juicy and very tender, but the chicken itself didn't really have any sort of flavour to it. Maybe I'm missing the point, but it was just lacking that little bit of something to really make them great. The fries were seasoned and actually really good and I most certainly finished those. I will say that the servings here are definitely pretty large and the six wings and fries will leave you unable to order from a 2nd truck. Overall, J&L's BBQ Truck is solid choice for ribs, chicken, or whatever else they have cooking that day. I'll definitely be giving this truck another go and giving the pulled pork a try next time!

There's two options for ordering, the first is ordering "Dutch style", the second is choosing from a poutine-like list (there's poutine on the list, but the other choices are generally your choice of fries topped with a sauce with a meat, cheese, or both). The choice of fries are straight-cut battered, sweet potato, or waffle fries. For example, "The 716" was fries topped with Franks hot sauce, chicken, and blue cheese. I got the "Southern Comfort" which was fries topped BBQ sauce and your choice of pulled pork or shredded chicken (I ordered chicken). They also had traditional poutine (fries topped with cheese curds and gravy, optional to add meat for an extra dollar). All of these cost about $7.50 and was enough to fill me up as a meal. 5 stars because the girls working the truck were helpful in helping me narrow down what I wanted, the quality was good and you get a good amount for the price. Each ball is probably 4 bites size wise, so not small. But she doesn't just put them in a bowl to roll around together, she places them carefully and then dresses them some more. Reinforcing the flavors. The presentation alone got 5 stars from me. Like I said, I was sharing, so I carefully placed them in the car and drove slowly without sudden stops to a friends house. I probably should have asked if she had containers but I didn't. I arrived and the dog came to meet me, almost knocking me down to get at what was being held high above my head. I sampled her Spring Thyme Vegetable Arancini (filling was Lemon Ricotta and a Smoked Paprika, surrounded by an array of fresh Vegetables. Peas 3 Ways - Wafer, Puree and freshly Shucked, 2 different Carrots - Orange that were lightly Charred and Yellow ones that were Pickled, Onion Blossoms & Sunflower Soil). When was placed in front of me, it looked like a Garden. I took a bite and I tasted that light Creaminess of the Ricotta, the Lemon is Bright while the smoked Paprika gives it a subtle mildness. All the Vegetables had a nice crunch to them, I loved all the different textures that were going on and they worked together harmoniously. My next visit to the Truck, I decided to switch gears and let my Sweet Tooth have some fun. I got the Cookies & Cream Arancini, I gazed at this beautiful Dark Brown Sphere of Sweetness, crack it open and take a big spoonful of that Creamy Molten Rice with that fresh Whipped Cream on Top and the of crisp Cookie that was perched on top. For my 3rd visit I thought why not have Breakfast for Dinner, a Cheddar Bacon Arancini with a Sous Vide Egg in the Center topped with Fresh Basil and a Corn, Bacon, Tomato and Avocado Salsa and a Spicy Mayo on the Bottom. I break into it and I see this beautiful Yolk just ooze out then get a bit of those Sweet Ripe Cherry Tomatoes followed by a crunch of some crispy Bacon. The heat of the Mayo helps to cut some of that richness of the Yolk. This is by far one of my favorite Food Trucks in Buffalo, these guys do really great with an Italian Classic, you can definitely say that they are Balls to the Wall. !!!
