I gave them extra time and returned 40 minutes later, only to find out my pizza hadn't even been started yet. That alone was frustrating, but what happened next was far worse. The employee who was supposed to be making my pizza had visibly dirty hands and was wearing no gloves. He had been handling money at the register and touching various surfaces before going back to prepare food. I asked the woman working there whether employees are required to wash their hands or wear gloves when making pizzas. Her response was shocking -- she told me they can't force employees to wash their hands. I was absolutely disgusted. When I asked the employee directly if he would please wash his hands before preparing my food, he nonchalantly informed me he was "just now getting ready to start" my pizza -- again, 40 minutes after I had originally ordered. To make matters worse, the woman I'm assuming was the manager had a visible attitude throughout the entire interaction rather than addressing the concern professionally. I decided I didn't want the pizza at all and asked for a full refund. No food is worth the risk to my health. Marco's has always held a high standard of cleanliness in my experience, which is why this was so jarring. I hope management takes this seriously and retrains staff on proper food handling and hygiene protocols. Sanitation is not optional -- it's the law.
