We ordered takeout from the Hungry Ninja. The online order system instructs you to send a text message with particular ordering instructions, which is fine for me as I have worked in food service before, but I can imagine that people unaccustomed to working in the food service industry could find this challenging. I received a confirmation text, and when I arrived the food was ready - earlier than scheduled even which is a bonus. We had intended to use downtown Guelph gift vouchers we recently received as a gift. As a business listed under the Downtown Guelph Business Association directory, they should be willing and able to accept them as they are valid as cash or cheques. They get deposited the same as a cheque into their bank, as it says on both the voucher AND the Downtown Guelph Business Association website. We arrived to pick up our order and were told that the owner does not want to accept these vouchers. The cashier had been told before that they are not willing to accept then. We insisted that they should take them as they are valid as cash or cheque at any downtown business, but apparently the owner does not want to deal with the hassle. The cashier phoned the owner who immediately told them "no, we won't take them" and hung up. We then offered to pay by credit card with Apple Pay since we had not brought our wallets. We were told it was an additional $2, and they don't have tap. We ended up leaving with nothing, and the food went to waste. It is hugely disappointing as someone who tries to support local businesses to be turned away because they don't want to deal with vouchers from their own local business association. It is a service offered by the community to ensure the economic stability of the downtown core, and to see it discarded by a local business is very disheartening. It is also disappointing that they would rather see food go to waste than accept a voucher. Very dissatisfied with the lack of commitment to the community and complete lack of customer service on the part of the owner. read more

So poke bowls are one of my favourite things to eat, and this place definitely didn't disappoint. It was delicious. But not only that, the service was super friendly and the decor was cute. I went around 3pm in a Friday and it was absolutely dead. But that definitely had nothing to do with it being bad food. I appreciated all of the many fish options for the bowls and all the great topping options! I will definitely go back for more poke and to try a sushi burrito! I went back a second time to try their rolls (aka sushi burritos). I tried the ninja bomb roll with ninja sauce and it was very good. They also have decent miso soup! My boyfriend and I came here on a Monday and lucky for us, the daily special was the salmon burrito ($10) which was exactly what we wanted. My boyfriend loves sushi burritos and I could see the excitement in his eyes! For the burritos, you could decide on the sauce and either roasted or spicy sesame seeds. I chose the wasabi citrus sauce and my boyfriend ordered their ninja sauce which is apparently a popular choice. After a short wait, the sushi burritos were ready for devouring! I really liked the wasabi citrus sauce because it added that extra kick which my boyfriend felt like was missing in his. All the ingredients went well together with the salmon, their burritos include pickled ginger, pickled radish, cucumber, tempura bits, avocado and green onion. However, the burrito was smaller than other places I've tried and could have used more salmon. I would have also preferred if they had cut the burrito into halves to made it a bit easier to eat, the cross-sectional view would have been good for photos too haha. Hungry Ninja doesn't only make sushi burritos, they also have poke bowls, ramen and offer these in vegetarian options as well so that everyone can eat and kick butt like a Ninja! read more

from one extreme to another. was in guelph for a trip and decided to rely on ratings from a service that wasn't yelp. buy or beware with this place. placed an order for a house full of people (5 people) for over 100 dollars and the order took absolutely forever to get to us, not a problem, we thought at that time, but the worst was yet to come. we start to unpack the order to find out that over half of the order was wrong, we made an attempt to phone and get this resolved and it was met with the busy signal for over an hour, so we made an attempt to eat all the wrong food, and now i'm writing about it. i'm seriously confused how the rating is this high on yelp and on other websites as well, the quality of the food is not good whatsoever, the rice for the sushi tasted like it was made the day before or even older, the fish was also not well tasting as well. after this whole situation we ended up throwing out a majority of the other due to the error and the quality of everything. stay far away from this place, i wouldn't trust them with my money, or anyone elses. read more

Was extremely happy to find a poke place in Guelph but was disappointed with how small the portions are. Decent if you have a small appetite but unfortunately not enough sustenance for most people. Contents are also quite small in comparison to the amount of rice. Staff is very friendly. Would be great if they could have a bigger size bowl. read more

What can I say, this place is truly amazing. There were times where it did take 30 min to make one poke bowl. However other times resulted in making 3 in 15 minutes. I really do like the food here but it's unfortunate how disorganized their ordering system is.I ordered my food on "Just Eat" for delivery and the website told me the restaurant was closed. Knowing it's not I tried ordering the delivery on their website where I was told I would get a confirmation when the order went through. I called to see what was up and they told me they had it, and they could make it in 5 minutes and have it brought to me. I called an hour after that and they told me their system said pick-up and the food has just been waiting here. Get it together guys!!! You have a good product, don't let it go to waste! read more

This isn't sushi. The menu is akin to a child running a lemon aid stand. The service is terrible and we did not feel welcome.

A menu that requires hours of study and tons of questions to understand. Service that is broken. Mistakes in the order even though it is standard menu item without any changes. Slow service. I continue to sit quietly waiting (20 mins) since placing my order and watch as they deliver my order to the wrong table then scramble to deliver the correct order to them while I continue waiting. It should be noted that I had ordered and was seated when the other folks arrived. I typed all this and still waiting with no explanation. I am now going to ask for my money back. read more
