Over an hour to wait for an 8 piece sushi order despite after 45min telling four different people we were waiting for an order. In the end, not even an offer to discount the bill for the long wait. We love going to Cherry Blossom as a family of 4. Although it is a little more on the expensive side, the variety of sashimi & sushi at any time of day is worth it. Personally, I am a huge fan of classic sushi's and prefer a wonderful sashimi meal. The seafood is fresh and the cooked food (such as rice dishes, beef & chicken skewers) are hot and well prepared. I went to cherry blossom sushi with my adult son for lunch. The all you can eat Lunch buffet is $42 a person - which I think is a little on the pricey side, but we both wanted the selection so we went for it. The sushi was mediocre at best. However, the piece that I would really like to share is when we settled the bill and the waitress came (she was a 40 something Asian woman) I left my tip in cash on the table. She rudely asked if the service was ok. I said yes it was fine. Then she informed me that tipping was based on service. I told her that I didn't think the food was worth the $42 a person and I didn't feel a large tip was warranted. She interrupted me and told me again that tipping was based on service. To be truthful, she did nothing spectacular to impress me with the service. All she did was deliver food to my table, she wasn't friendly, I don't believe she even said hello to us during all of our transactions. To have a waitress call me on out in the amount I left for a tip is a first for me. Second of all, she needs to understand that tipping shouldn't be expected, it's something the waitress or waiter needs to earn. The transaction ended in a nasty little spot between us with me telling her she didn't deserve the tip I left based on her attitude. This is probably the third time I've been to this restaurant. I feel the quality of the food has gotten worse and based on the interaction with this waitress, it will be my last. My lunch with tax was $99 and it truly was a disappointment. They started pouring water, at 4.5 cups they stopped for a table of 12 (10 Adults plus 2 Toddlers). 7:50 PM i ask for a tablet so i can order food, i was told no. I had to wait till everyone arrive. I was really mad. Anyways everyone arrived, and we start ordering. For a table of 12 we get one tablet, so everyone have to punch his order wait for everyone else to punch his.. then Submit the order and wait for a waiter to come accept it. Half of the order never showed up. Random shit appeared on our table that nobody ordered. I put another order as i didnt want to hold the tablet for too long on the first order. I asked a waiter to put it through, he said he will be back. Watching him serve everyone else, and others serve and nobody come. I had to stand up and yell. To get some attention. They charged me and the wife 80$ plus tax and tip. For shitty service and food never showed up. My kid 2 years old was 6$. Never offered a cup for the toddlers, ordered fries for my kid, over 3 orders of them, no fries showed up. Water wasn't filled on all cups till after 8.10 pm. Drinks took forever to come to the table, no free refills. It was my friends birthday, on their website it says birthday person gets a gift if the bill is over 100$. Our bill was over 500$. I have to start by saying that myself and my spouse and friends have been to at least a dozen or so different AYCE Sushi places over time and even many since COVID (with inflation times). However this one by far was the worst experience in so many different levels. I also rarely ever write reviews and in my over 20 years of paying for my own meals if I have written a review it was mostly positive ones about servers or experiences. The price $42/adult / $18 for children 10 and under. OK it's on the High Side but not uncommon during these times. We were 4 adults and 3 children so 7 ppl and therefore they automatically add a 15% Gratuity for groups over 6 (also not uncommon during these times). Yet none of this information is on their website, I wonder why? What they didn't tell us before seating us is that each and every sauce you want (even Spicy Mayo a staple) is a $1 charge for a small tiny container. I have paid this for takeout but NEVER in over 20 AYCE have I had to pay for sauce. It's literally a menu item on the iPad (all the sauces are listed for $1). Coca-Cola is $3 and NO Refills (apparently because of COVID according to the note on the iPad). However they do bring around pitchers of almost Room Temperature water. All of this would have been somewhat ok if the food or service were even half decent but it was all subpar. I ordered a Green Tea (and never got it), that's usually a staple at AYCE. Then there was the Edamame that we ordered 3 times including 10 mins into our seating and never got until 90 mins after we got there and had to ask for it. We also had to ask for a dish of Beef Ribs twice even after they confirmed that we wanted what we had ordered. What was ironic about that is that after we ask they brought 30 seconds later. It was like they were holding it there hoping we didn't actually want it so they could give it to someone else. There was barely any level of Service they didn't really speak to us, didn't ask us about the service or how the food was, and when I did ask for some more Napkins I mentioned to the one server that I have never been to an AYCE that charges for Sauce he quietly replied that this is the worst place he has worked for. We also never got those Napkins lol The kicker at the end I'm presuming it was the Manager (the only one in a white shirt - everyone else was in black) comes over an just drops the receipt on table. By drop I mean from like 2 feet in the air just let's it float down on the table. Literally the most rude/disrespectful thing I have seen in my dining experience. Didn't ask us if we were paying Cash or Debit (they offer 10% off for cash) / didn't ask if we were splitting the bill. We had to get her to split the bill, and we told her cash and she still brings the bill without the discount. She then doesn't come back for 10 minutes so we eventually go to the counter and she then tries not to give me my change. DAMAGE ~ $175 for 2 Adults, a 13 yr old and a 6 yr old with one Coke and one sauce. End result: I will never go there again and I will share this review on all the sites so that others may avoid the disappointment I'm feeling!! read more

At $22 for AYCE lunch, this place is not worth it at all. The biggest red flag is that the service is just bad. The owner is rude, and I used to frequent at their other location (W sushi). She has always been rude, and it makes me extremely uncomfortable every time she is there. When Cherry Blossom first opened, the servers were very attentive and kind. Maybe in the last year and a half or so, the servers seem to have gotten extremely rude and hasty. And don't even get me started on the food. The tempura is always greasy. Portions are small, especially for $22 (lunch) and $32 (dinner). Anything in the form of sushi that is supposed to have fish in it always has the smallest amount of fish. It is unfortunate that this is the only sushi place in the south end of Guelph. People have no option but to go to one of their locations and spend that kind of $$ when they feel like having sushi. I long for the day another sushi place opens in the south end, with better quality, prices and service. Sashimi was warm and not fresh at all, and the sushi pieces were okay. We also requested spicy mayo on the side and this place is the only sushi place to charge us for it. Because I am trying to avoid overeating, I gave the $29 All You Can Eat menu a pass, and ordered from the A La Carte Menu. When the food arrived, it was fresh and delicious. I ordered miso soup, shrimp tempura, seaweed salad and a sushi roll with asparagus, avocado, salmon and tobiko. Everything was fresh and perfectly prepared. The best reason to choose this restaurant is the food. However, given the fact that one waiter kind of sneered at me when I asked for the All You Can Eat and the À la Carte Menu (to choose between them before ordering) and given that the other waiter criticized me for taking a photo during the meal, but had no problem defending crowded seating arrangements, I recommend asking for a booth or arriving well before 5:30 PM, when it is not so crowded. The two of us decided to try Cherry Blossom Sushi after a friend recommended it to us. While were there we took a photo of the lovely interior and posted to facebook, so some more friends came to try it. It's big and roomy inside, with one big row of spacious booths on each side, and tables/booths in the centre. Groups will find it easy to come here and be seated immediately (even really big groups), and we also felt comfortable as a table of two. Disabled guests, including those in wheelchairs, should find the venue easy to navigate. They're next to Bulk Barn, so parking is easy. Once we were seated our waitress showed us how to use the ipad for ordering. If you are vegetarian, like us, you may want to ask for a paper menu as well. The paper menu notes which items are vegetarian, while the ipad does not. However, the ingredients are clearly listed on the ipad with each item. Don't forget that items are ordered by the piece, so if you want several onion rings or pieces of broccoli then be sure to tap the button more than once. This is handy, though, especially if you have children with you or are unsure if you will like an item. You can also order by paper menu if you prefer. The dishes came quickly and were very tasty! They were also prompt and friendly with drink refills. I have had problems at other sushi places with the staff not liking to come by for additional orders or to take care of drinks - that was not a problem here. Also, we ordered diet coke from the fountain and the refills were free. They mentioned that cans were also available for some sodas (no refills), but we didn't check into that. There were a moderate number of vegetarian options, including a lovely selection of mango-based items. You'll also find your standard veggie favourites, such as seaweed salad, spring rolls, veggie udon, veggie fried rice, etc.. The fried milk pudding squares were our favourite desert, with the mango pudding in a close second. Price is about $26 x adult for unlimited ordering, and I believe it was $17 x child. When you walk into cherry blossom, the first thing you really notice is the elaborate wood structure extending to all parts of the space. Its a very different atmosphere, but in a good way. Everything is new and clean. Ambiance- 4/5 The food is overall pretty good at this establishment. There are many other sushi joints in guelph but this is one of the better ones. One thing I dont like about this place is that some of their foods seem simply frozen and fried. Things like takoyaki (octopus balls) should be made-to-order at that price range!! They look too uniform. It looks like a gumdrop but deepfried... Sashimi was great. The salmon was fresh and thickly cut, beef sashimi did not have an overpowering iron taste, the mackerel was juicy and briney like it should be and scallops were fresh as well. The rolls were ok. Frankly, for the price, I was diappointed with these rolls. $27.00 for dinner is not cheap! I love my spider rolls and they were not very good here. The other rolls (golden roll, spicy salmon, green dragon) were pretty typical. Another thing I always order at sushi restaurants is their udon soup, so I ordered the seafood udon. The broth wasnt too bad. It was a little bit sweet which was nice. However, It was served in an awkward little bowl and it was hard to eat the noodles with so many vegetables thrown in. So overall, it was not great... Dessert was not so great. I really liked the coconut ice cream. It has pieces of coconut in it! The servimg of creme brulee was ridiculous. It was so shallow that as soon as you break through the sugar your spoon hits the bottom...not impressed. Food- 3/5 Service was good. The service is always quick and efficient thanks in part to the ipad ordering system. The food didnt take long at all to arrive at the table. Water was refilled when empty and servers were kind. Service- 4.5/5 OVERALL: I would say don't come here for sushi. Samura sushi in north Guelph is better quality. They will give you better quality sushi especially considering the price. Having a sudden craving for sushi, I pulled off of the highway after a long trip and a quick Yelp search. Starving, I opted for the pricey ($27) all you can eat option. Cue one of the worst sushi restaurants I've ever eaten at. The portions were tiny, stuff had a food poisony vibe to it. I wound up wrapping the one piece of yam tempura I ordered in a napkin and tossing it out because it was cold and greasy. First time reviewing... but I have to speak out! My wife and I have been going there pretty much since it first opened. Food is usually ok and service is usually OK too... so not quite sure what is going on! Before I go into specifics, I need to point out two things: I am aware that they like to charge for " food you don't eat " (as an effort to reduce waste I guess) and I am also aware that we are living in difficult times... I'm also aware that the price they charge for " all you can eat " is a bit more than they should but my wife wanted to go there and it is what it is! We ordered pretty much the same things we usually order. The first soups that we received were below average: lukewarm at best... they bring almost everything at once so we typically start with a soup or two... cold Miso soup... blah! The main course was sort of up and down: one thing tasted good, the next so-so... I enjoy the raw beef they normally serve but it arrived badly cut so I ended up having to split it myself: not easy with chopsticks. Ordered chips that are usually quite tasty. Took a bite in one of them, looked at the waiter and asked them why they had put SUGAR (not salt!) on chips?!? Couldn't eat them... put the plate on top of the " done pile ". Waiter, btw, totally ignored my question. When the person picking up plates arrived she took the chips plate off the " done " plates and I knew exactly what was going to happen... Then two things occurred; a plate or two fell off the area where they prepare food... broken plates, food all over the floor about 10' from where we were sitting...and my wife found a piece of clear plastic in her food. I immediately pointed it out to the waiter... who proceeded to ignore me again! The food that their chef had dropped on the floor was finally picked up at least 5-10 minutes after the fact! They brought us food we hadn't ordered... I tried to refuse it but the waiter left it there! Then he brought us two plates of skewered beef and chicken (plates are small and usually I eat these in seconds)... took a bite and the meat had been covered in the seasoning (probably to hide something: bad meat?). So I said, screw it! Not eating dry over-seasoned meat! Sushi, btw as tiny!! I love sushi but this was like eating Sushi if it was in a kid's menu! The woman that had been picking up empty plates comes around and I looked at her and told her we were done. She proceeds to tell me there would be a surcharge. I explained the entire ordeal: sugar on the chips, meat, plastic and all! Her response was first to try and show me that the meat is seasoned "Japanese style"... I looked at her and asked to speak to her manager which she claimed was her; Winnie. She then WALKED AWAY as I was talking to her!! My friends from Mississauga came to visit my family in Guelph. Location is 5minutes from my house so I took them for buffet. There are nine adults of us in table. The service was terrible and very unpleasant! I was so embarrassed with my guests. We ordered roll/ sushi/tempura in the beginning was ok. When we asked for a second order of shrimps tempura the owner, a grouchy tall lady came to our table and said they are running of shrimps. But we saw the servers serving shrimps tempura to other tables. When we asked for salmon teriyaki the Bitchy owner came again and said they have no salmon. We ordered chicken and beef skewer but after 2servings they said they are running out but they are serving them to the other tables! Excellent tempura, sushi, and sashimi. My wife and I really enjoyed the "all you can eat" dinner we recently had. They have traditional menus you can order from; but the ipads they have were really fun and easy to use. That being said, I am not sure how well the ipad would work with a large group. You simply click on the item and how many you want and then a server comes over and "confirms" it and before you know it the items come to your table. Although we had a defined server we had several different folks come to our table to confirm our orders and to answer whatever questions we had. We enjoyed the "Guelph" roll and the other hand rolls and maki/special rolls looked great. We had two different salads, spring rolls, sushimi, sushi and desserts. Sadly, they did not have their liquor licence when we went so we were unable to order any Sake. It is my understanding that they will be licenced to serve alcohol soon. We have gone to many Japanese restaurants in Guelph, Kitchener, Waterloo and Cambridge. Outside of Dake (which has wonderful Tepanaki) I think this is my favourite restaurant. As another reviewer has stated it is quite large inside and is one really big room (much bigger than you might think from looking at the restaurant outside). However, the architecture and design. and the creative use of booths and dividers allowed us to still have an "intimate" experience. It is apparent from the quality of the features used in the restaurant that it must have cost a lot of money to outfit the restaurant. $26 for all you can eat (weeknight dinner) is not cheap. However, this was soup, salad, sushi, sashimi, rolls, tempura, noodles dishes, dessert and all you can eat. We thoroughly enjoyed our evening and plan to go back next week. Me and my boyfriend decided to go for the all you can eat. We were gave the iPad to place order. The food is just ok, sashimi is just okay not so fresh, they have wide range of side dishes and sushi roll. Turned out the sushi roll was rolled a bit too lose and especially the mango salad was just few mango sticks with some syrup and sugar. The dessert was too sweet for us. And for the service, I think they should improve their quality of service. At first when me and boyfriend sat down, the server asked would we like to have water or tea, we said water first. We were brought two cold water, it was freezing outside and snowing so we were thinking tea should be better, and we asked for tea after. At the end, I was shocked when I saw the bill, we were charged $3 for the tea. I felt it would be more appropriate to tell us that tea is not included at the beginning. On the other hand, when we placed order for dessert, the server asked us was it the last thing we want, I bring the bill for you. I am a fan! Note: First and foremost, I am not in Guelph often and I have not been to other Japanese restaurants. Cherry Blossom is situated a plaza that looks fairly new and the restaurant itself does look new as well. I was told that this is a second location for the owner. The decor is interesting and modern. I have to say for a week day dinner, there was quite a few tables and service was great. Similar to most AYCE sushi places now, you order on an Ipad device and I have to say their system/design is almost the same as Heart Sushi and Sushi 168 in Mississauga. Cherry Blossom has their own special rolls, and I love how they had scallop and mackerel sashimi. Their beef/onion roll was delicious and fresh. We got our cups of water and tea refilled constant and consistently. I had no complaints with the food and most importantly, service was great! I would definitely come back and try their special rolls and items that I haven't tried. Another plus on the location is before or after your meal, you can shop around or even watch a movie. Went back last week, everything was much better. Fast service, servers were great, if they had more rolls to choose from for the all you can eat lunch they would get 5 stars for sure. Impressed with how quickly they got things running smoothly after our first visit. We will be back! First review: Took 10 minutes to get our menus, which turns out to be an iPad to share with the whole table. Very slow to get everyone's order in. Ask for normal menus with a group. The rolls were 80% rice, stuff came out slow and randomly, many items never even made it to our table, even when we asked where they were. The server is never around to "confirm" additional orders that you place. The big open room feels like a large cafeteria. It may be different if you get one of the booths. The decorations are nice though. Very expensive for the portion sizes and quality of food. Small menu selection for lunch. I think we may have been there early enough after they opened that there wasn't much experience among the staff. I'll try it again in a few months. read more

First of all, i came from toronto to visit this restaurant, a buddy of mine tried it and was amazed. Server advised me no sashimi for lunch service but provided a dinner menu and ala cart.. I went for the dinner ayce menu and was surprised with the spicy karage they served me, it was really good, perfect for hot sake, sashimi was fresh and nice cuts, no blue fin tho, experience was great, advanced ordering system, servers were polite and food were coming out fast. Fried food like tempura and squid tenatacles were a bit greasy but big in servings and flavourful, will definitely gonna comeback here!! read more

Sushi restaurants are hit and miss and and after a day of hiking and snowboarding this way a great way to start an evening. We went with the AYCE dinner deal ($27.00) which is a good deal because unlike some AYCE deals there were very little restrictions on this menu. Service was great and i love how you order your food off an Ipad that the waitress brings over. I live downtown and have roots in Mississauga and don't get out here very often, and I wish they would open up a location downtown because we definitely need more quality sushi restaurants here. If you are in this area (Milton to Kitchener) definitely drop by, its worth it. read more

Cherry Blossom Sushi was good. . .not great. We usually go over to Ye's Sushi in Kitchener, because it's amazing and delicious and even though we live in Guleph, to be honest, we drive to Kitchener because none of the sushi restaurants here are worth bothering with. However, Cherry Blossom sushi just opened, so we thought we'd give it a try. I must say, the menu is extensive, which is awesome and they have some interesting items that I haven't seen anywhere else. When the food came, I found that most of the rolls tasted the same, despite having very different ingredients. It wasn't AWFUL, but it certainly wasn't stellar either. Plus, the rolls had a mushy and consistent texture, despite that some of them were supposed to have 'crunchy' tempura in them. I don't eat sashimi, but my partner said it was just 'okay', but far from the best he'd had. Plus more than a few items from our order didn't show up and we were left wondering if we were supposed to order them again, or if they were just being slow and we'd accidentally get stuck with twice the amount we wanted. So we asked our server if any of our items were still coming, or if they had been lost. She just shrugged her shoulders and told us to order them again. So I *might* go back if my car was broken down and I wasn't able to get over to Ye's on Sportsworld drive and Cherry Blossom is certainly better than a lot of the other sushi places in Guelph, but it's a most definite 3 star rating in my opinion read more

Pretty fresh sashimi, service is friendly although they are a bit understaffed. I believe I saw that they were trying to hire more help for the place though. Good variety and a good selection of food. Pretty decent sushi considering it's located in Guelph! Definitely coming here again whenever I need to satisfy my sushi cravings read more

The best sushi, and even better customer service! I had a family funeral where I was helping to cater the reception. Two days before the service my mother-in-law asked if I could bring sushi for 150 people. I called Cherry Blossom and they were absolutely lovely. Because the funeral was in Toronto Saturday afternoon (and I was leaving first thing Saturday morning) they suggested I pick up the sushi at closing Friday night to make sure it was as fresh as possible. Sure enough, when I arrived they had created three beautiful trays that were put together minutes earlier. The sushi was a huge hit Saturday; it tasted delicious and fresh. I would highly recommend Cherry Blossom for any catered events! read more
