I've been ordering my meals from these folks for close to a year now, and I gotta say, I'm so in love. Mind you, I'm a self made business owner/woman that has had to work herself up from the bottom (and I mean THE bottom!). I take pride in working hard and used to wear that trait as a badge of honor. I liked to saying "no one can do anything better than I can, so I'll just do it myself!" This holds especially true for food and my diet, especially since I work hard and train hard, and sometimes I like to enter fitness competitions so eating quality/nutritious food is extremely important and not something I easily trust someone else preparing for me. But as my business grew and my time became more precious I realized that just like other things in my life/business I had to outsource some of my tasks. In this case, I chose to outsource all those hours of shopping/prep work/cooking/cleaning that I was doing. Before H+G, I tried the other more well know food delivery services and they all did the job, but just barely. Suffice it to say, they weren't anything to write home to Yelp about. Meals were safe (read: bland and uninteresting), simple (read: lacking in variety and daring), and boring (read: sometimes the food came in bags). I mean, I can't complain, you get what you pay for. Those companies offer those types of meals because they probably produce in scale and as such they treat their product and their clients in very predictable ways. The folks at Hunt+Gather and the product they produce are none of those things. H+G is simply on another level. Hunt+Gather is fresh, boutique, and sexy! I can tell that they are a small company because everything seems to be done with the care of a craftsman. Their attention to detail when it comes to their delicious and inventive food, as well as their packaging and customer service, is awesome. What's crazy is that I first went to them because I was unsatisfied with another service and was referred by one of my fellow CrossFit ladies and I knew that H+G served healthy meals. At the time, I didn't have the time to prepare my own meals and I needed quality food to support my training. I had just competed in a physique competition and was pretty much on my off season, and I wanted to maintain my good habits (normally, I tend to let myself go a little post competition). Granted, my expectations were low by this time, having just tried a couple of other services, but when I got my first meals, my mind was just blown,. OMG . Delicious. Beautiful. Delicious. I'd wait in line for this type of meal..... AND it was healthy! Ever since then, I've stuck with them religiously. They have an ever changing menu that is like Christmas for my pallet every day - but I'll admit that I get bummed a little because I do have some favorite dishes that sometimes I have to wait a few weeks for before they rotate back through, but that's just me being stubborn. I know I can easily just buy those dishes a la carte, but then what if I miss an amazing meal because I decided to be closed off to experience? ..... first world problems. If you're a bargain hunter, who wants to start being healthier and start making changes in your life, than please please do not go to these guys. You will be disappointed..... not because of the product they offer (because it is amazing), but because you'll never feel satisfied with anything. If you're a discerning consumer that knows what quality is, has their stuff together and is looking for something to help them support their current lifestyle, then you've come to the right place. I love supporting local businesses that do good work and these guys are IT! From one business owner who respects good work when she sees it to another, muah! When I first started my weekly meal subscription, almost a year ago, Brian was the guy who helped set me up and I have never looked back since. I think that he was their main customer service guy, because he was always at the ready to help me out with any of my questions. From talking to him, he obviously took pleasure from helping his clients out and I think it's because he knew he knew was helping people like me make a positive choice in their daily lives. I know, I know, my review is a little late, but at least it's coming from a place of experience and knowledge. The food.: Obviously the meals that they create are great or else I wouldn't have stuck with them for so long. All fresh, nothing frozen, and super satisfying. They've evolved a lot since they first started out - and for the better. They have always produced tasty, healthy meals, but since their relaunch, their food has been nothing short of out-of-this-world and just simply awesome! The service: See above. Anytime I've ever needed to pause my subscription (I travel a lot) they are very easy to deal with as long as I give ample notice. Super friendly and very accommodating. I've talked to the owner and she is just a breath of fresh air. Like Brian, you can tell she loves what she does and who she serves. There are not many companies out there that you can say really respect you - this company makes me feel like I'm their one and only client and it's very much appreciated. Before starting with Hunt+Gather, I had already been on a 1.5 year, 100 lbs journey of weight loss. At my worst, everything upset me and I would have probably complained about something like receiving more green M&Ms than red ones in a single bag -I was not in a good place. Since then, I've come to realize that my success and happiness must start from within and that openness to what is good is more important than carrying around a self destructive negative attitude. When I found these guys, I was just looking for something convenient and easy and that would work with my schedule so that I can devote more time to my business and personal life, I would never have imagined how absolutely amazing the meals were going to be. Signed up using a 'special' that they were running: buy 4 days and get 5th day free ~ for new customers. When I signed up, there was no place to enter a coupon code, no place that validated that I was supposed to get the 5th day free. But (dumb me, I continued anyway). A gal called to verify my order, and I told her there was noplace to add that 5th free day. She said 'no problem. It will automatically show up in our computer when we receive your order. I received 4 days just fine, no prob. Food was mostly ok (the chick chunks and pork chunks were REALLY dry, but all others were good). I called Friday to ask where is food? Meanwhile, I'm getting these great marketing emails from them saying "Re-order your food". But no response. Finally, Tuesday a gal called and said that the problem was mine because I only ordered 4 days. I thought "hmmm pretty sure I ordered 5..." but when I checked my original order confirmation, it said 4 days. SOOO... I admitted my mistake. That night I woke in the middle of the night remembering that I did actually order 5 days and that they said it would show up on their end. So I called back to explain this, and have never heard from them since. I've received no food, I've received no refund, no call, no nothing. It is clear that this is a tiny little start-up company. Their people don't possess 'trained' customer service skills. (Way too obvious by the way she stayed on the offense ~ considered 'really bad form' with well-trained folks). What would you give to have an extra 1-2 hours a day to do whatever you want? Me, I don't mind spending on myself when it comes to saving time. Trust when I say that I still enjoy a nice purse or a lovely pair of shoes every now and then, but time... that's priceless to me. My boyfriend and I started ordering from these guys a few weeks back to help support us on our health challenge at our gym and we are now IN LOVE. I actually see myself continuing with this service even after our challenge is over. Because really, I never thought I'd be one of those "lazy" people who'd get meals delivered directly to them, but now that I do, I don't see myself going back. Rather than stress on prepping our own healthy meals, I get to outsource all that stress - because you know, my bf won't have anything to do with that. We called and got set up for the single meal per day plan and were up and running that first Monday. Very friendly and responsive customer service, and of course the food was amaze-balls. I'm the type to ask a million-and-one questions, so I know I made their rep work for my sale - sorry Brian! Keep tuned in, for an update review. So far, there's been enough variety to keep me interested (and keep me anticipating the next meal =P ), but we'll see how things work out in the next few weeks. read more

I wanted to like this place and when I started there were a couple mistakes in my order. First thing when you have a business make sure you are organized they are not. Multiple emails between each other and a lot of apologies for not delivering my food that I ordered and having to wait for it while they charged me. They took some charges off and provided food for free at times. Charging me for food that I never ordered is what I had issue with. This is unethical and this is when I made decision to cancel my service with them. Also their customer service you can only Get a hold of them through email they almost never answer the phone. I would never recommend them to anyone to encounter the problems that I know other people have encountered. Seems like everyone has the same complaints.
