I called ahead to see if they were open and the guy who picked up the phone said yes, until 2p. We jump in the car for the 1.5 hr drive, pull up at 1:55p, and walk up to see a sign on the door that says CLOSED. Called the # I had and same guy picks up saying he is already halfway home and that credit card machine was turned off, now it's only cash, and then asks me what it be worth to him if he came back. I told him I could pay via Cash App or check, or hit an ATM. He said no ATM nearby and that they don't do cash apps or check...and then told me he was "old school". I told him that if he was "old school" he would have stayed until 2p like he had told me on the phone, and I hung up to tell my group we needed to find something else to do. No more than 5 minutes later this guy appears out of nowhere running up to me aggressively while screaming obscenities in front of families with young children coming out of the bike shop, "are you the m-fer I just talked to on the phone!?!! Are you the one who said I broke my word!?!" Yeah, I told him, that was me. He then stuck out his chest and walked around me like he wanted to fight me right there in the parking lot. I tried to cool the situation down by asking if we could do business, and he screams in my face "I'm charging you 4x the cost, it's now $120 per tube!!!" I reached into my ice chest to grab a beer to think about it, and the guy pulls out his phone and starts recording my car, license plate, then calls the cops saying I was drinking in a public park (even though I didn't open the beer). He finally walked off, my guess is that he realized I wasn't going to fight him. If it wasn't for my cool temperament this easily could have got physical. Anyway, we drove 10 minutes away to Dicks Sporting and bought great river tubes and saved $80. I've never experienced anything like this, and will never give this business another dime. I suggest everyone avoid them. The river on the other hand is fantastic, so we will be back to tube again....and with our own tubes!

Because of the tall trees, you get plenty of shade while walking through the woods. I take my young children who can effortlessly conquer 3 miles of the trail without hesitation. It's an awesome nature experience hearing the birds chirp & insects buzz, seeing the small schools of fish being carried down the stream, the crawling creatures perfectly positioned for nature enthusiasts capturing photos. The park entry also allows you to use the open grass areas to picnic or grab a grill. The water is practically a beach area as I've seen multiple families lined up on both sides of the bridge enjoying the cool water. As well as my children and I. There's plenty of parking. The bridge is a highlight boasting wonderful opportunities for pictures with beautiful natural lighting. There's also some train tracks on the other side of the bridge perfect for photo ops but BEWARE! it is a functional and operating train track! My family and I can't get enough of this park. Went here today on a field trip with my students and had a blast! The weather was on the warmer…read moreside which was great and we were the only group there. The staff was great with the kids and my students had a blast. They have a number of runs to use and plentynof staff to ensure safety of the participants. They show a safety video and debrief expectations before tubing begins. In addition to vending machines they also have an alehouse on top to order food and drink. The food is on the expensive side and they only sell combos (ex: burger with fries grilled cheese with soup). Students and staff definitely had a good time and would definitely go visit again.

The slopes move pretty fast and it's a great time for all ages. We roasted marshmallows and had a picnic by the fire pit as the sun went down making it a great date Our only issue was we checked in for our fire pit at 4 and the maintenance team didn't get it lit until 4:25 (and that's after we called back).

We…read morewere lucky enough to have the mountaintop camping site to ourselves since no one else booked for this week( likely due to the extreme heat and 4th of July holiday). The bathhouse was clean and had hot water. Most campsites only have lukewarm or cold water. There were also an abundance of toilet facilities and they were well maintained/cleaned. The view of the Potomac was breathtaking and the only downfall was that the camping sites are relatively close to each other both on the mountain and at the river's edge. I do recommend this center, however, and we will likely return when back in the area!

Tubing Review: We had an amazing time. Was is exhausting,…read moreyes. Worth it, yes! Owen was great. He was a great driving the stick shift bus back to the outfitters. It was nice being dropped off and picked up. We did have issues with our card online, but when I called in to book, Nancy was helpful. She got us all situated and sent an email to confirm. We filled out waivers online which was a breeze. We watched a quick safety video, picked up our lifevest and were on our way. The water was the perfect temp, and it was clear. Tips: bring snacks and water. You are out there 4-5 or longer hours. Especially if the water is low, which ours was. We used a waterproof bag and had no issues. We used a tube with a cup holder which was nice. I wore my life vest out of precaution even though I can swim, plus it made it comfortable for my to use it as a neck rest. I've noticed people mention in previous reviews that the bus was dirty ect. Um, you're in the woods. If you get picked up after many other groups the bus will be dirty as everyone is wet coming out of the water no matter what activity you choose. I would not own a brand spanking new vehicle for this type of environment and job. Used is best and saves money I'm sure. Wear a hat and sunglasses, put in that sunscreen. Bring a waterproof phone case/bag. You will have no service out there so put it on airplane mode and use it as a camera.
