About 2 blocks out the Premier Inn side is a giant pedestrian area with hundreds of shops and a giant functioning mall, the way malls used to be in the 1980s in the USA. There's a dollar store called Poundland, a Walmart like store called Primark, there's a Marks and Spencer (like Target), John Lewis ( like Bloomies or Nordstrom). Down the road, along the sea, is a pub from the 1300s called Dancing Man Woolen Mill that had centuries of character.

The hotel suggested we take a cab but we managed to pull our 24 inch luggage from the hotel. We cut through the Holiday Inn parking lot. I wouldn't recommend you walking unless you're very mobile. It took us under 15 minutes. We enjoyed the hotel. Very upbeat. We noticed a photo booth on the mezzanine and table tennis. We had a choice of 500 points or food credit $10 per person. I took the food credit as we were going to eat before leaving for the terminal the next morning. Spent about another $12 USD out of pocket. Standard breakfast food options. We also had hotel bar food for dinner the day we checked in after the two fish and chip places suggested by the hotel didn't work out. Ordered: * hubby had chicken wings * I had Mac n cheese balls * BIL had chicken curry * sis had egg rolls We each were given a free cocktail voucher. It was like a fruit punch. Also got local beer. Both sides of the street are lined with small restaurants and bars. Dining is outside or inside. The pub at the White Star offers a good selection of drinks and a nice menu. The rooms vary by size and occupy the 3 floors above the pub/restaurant. All are accessed by a staircase, if you have large bags, they can store them for you. Our rooms have always been very nicely furnished an immaculately clean. There's a coffee maker, and water boiler, tea, sugar etc as well. Air conditioning is adequate, the water pressure is good and the towels big and fluffy. The staff are welcoming and attentive.

The inn feels like an old ocean liner from the early 1900s without the opulence found later. My husband and I stayed at this hotel for one night before we embarked on a cruise. We paid 285 pounds for the night in a standard-double room. Our international flight landed in the morning. Many weeks earlier, the hotel's concierge had helped us to hire a chauffeur from a different business to drive us from the airport to the hotel. That concierge left his job, so unfortunately for several weeks, I received no responses to my emails. The chauffeur and I communicated, and he picked us up from the airport and drove us to the hotel. The hotel building had beautiful architecture that resembled the shape of a yacht. My husband and I arrived at the hotel at 9 AM, but checkin was at 3 PM. The front desk stored our suitcases while we waited several hours for a room to become available. To kill time, we visited many businesses around the town, and we ate lunch in the hotel's HarBAR on 6th restaurant, which I reviewed separately. Many other customers got rooms ahead of us. We got our room at 2:12 PM. The room was clean and stylish and was in very good condition. The bed was comfortable, and the water had a very good temperature and pressure. I appreciated that a shower cap was in the bathroom. The shampoo and conditioner worked fairly well to clean and moisturize my hair. The television was a bit small. Checkout in the morning was easy. The new concierge was fantastic. He spoke very nicely with us, stapled our cruise tags onto our suitcases, and even remembered my husband's name. He also drove us to the nearby cruise port on time.

Accessible entrance and lifts are in the lobby. Stairs were also easy to find and use. It is clean, bright, and has a relaxed ocean vibe. Our room overlooked the harbor, we could see the Queen Mary 2, and it was quiet. There were binoculars in the room that were fun to use! We were on the 5th floor so during the day and evening we could hear the chairs and furniture scraping the floor in the rooftop bar (on the 6th floor). Not terrible, but next time I'd prefer not to be on the fifth floor. The bed was comfortable but oddly the comforter barely fit the bed - we had to sleep in the center of the bed because the comforter was not wide enough to reach beyond the edge of the bed when we weren't in it. There cannot be an outlet in the bathroom by law, so using the hair dryer was also a challenge. There is a big full length mirror near the bathroom, but no outlet nearby and the hairdryer cord was not long enough. Fortunately there was a nice makeup mirror in the bathroom I was able to move and could prop up on the tissue box on the desk to see my hair while I dried it. Keeping the makeup mirror on the desk (where there is natural light) is a good idea because the lighting in the bathroom is terrible. Loved the chairs and colors in the room. Plenty of closet space and drawers. There is also a snack closet - look for the price list! We ate at the rooftop bar twice. When we arrived in the afternoon we had drinks and a pizza - both great! Jon was wonderful & helpful! We came back for breakfast the next morning. The buffet was perfect for me - the overnight oats were delicious as was the yogurt (very tangy) and fresh fruit. Hubby had some buffet items and eggs Benedict which he enjoyed. We would definitely stay here and dine here again!
