I have been a patient at this location for over 4 years and it has gone downhill precipitously in that time. I understand that most practices are much worse these days thanks to the hellscape that is the US healthcare system but it's still disappointing. I'm stuck in an Optum HMO plan with Blue Shield so maybe some of the issues here are due to Optum, who knows. I just know this office used to be better. I am rarely able to get an appointment with my primary care doctor within less than 2 weeks for an emergent medical issue. There's a NP there who is fine (the previous NP was much better but she just disappeared one day) but it's not clear that care is being coordinated within the office at all. I sometimes just give up and go to urgent care. Dr. Truong is now scheduling over a year out for annual wellness exams. I don't even think Kaiser is that bad. When you try to call the office, you're on hold sometimes for up to 20 minutes. I think the office is overbooking the doctors so they don't have time to provide quality patient care anymore. Dr. Truong is great but it's clear she is overworked. My labs for my annual wellness exam, which I was advised needed to be run 2-3 weeks prior to the exam, had some irregular results. I thought someone might call before the exam to discuss or possibly request repeat labs. No one did so I anxiously waited almost 3 weeks for my appointment (because it got rescheduled twice even though I made it 8 months prior) and when I got to the exam, it seemed like Dr. Truong hadn't even had time to look at them yet; it seemed like she was reviewing them in front of me in real time. I did need to have some of the labs re-run, which was frustrating because if the report had been reviewed when I had it done, I could have had the follow up bloodwork done before my appointment and maybe had some answers. When I arrived at LabCorp for the repeat labs that were ordered, they hadn't received an order from my doctor. Since this office won't provide patients with a written order, I had nothing to give them. They also won't provide written referrals and those aren't sent via the patient portal either; you have to wait weeks on end for them to come via snail mail. Being a patient at this office is an exercise in willpower and self-advocacy. Don't expect anyone to follow up on any medical issues you might have or concerning lab results; you're going to have to do that on your own here. Be prepared to advocate for yourself and ask for the referrals and tests you need. read more

This was my fourth visit here over the years. I absolutely am terrified of going to the doctors but 100% love Dr. Truong. I haven't seen her in about 4 years but she's still so warm and welcoming. Check in was easy, front desk staff was friendly, and the assistants were sweet and reassuring. Examination was quick and painless and Dr. Truong is now allowing patients to schedule next years exams in advance! Love love love getting the next wellness check in the books so I don't have to worry about it. I waited many months for an initial appointment with Dr. Truong, and in my experience, it was worth it. Dr. Truong is incredibly kind and thoughtful in her approach, and I felt genuinely heard and like I'm in the right hands. Additionally, I had an issue with the lab that I went to for bloodwork stating that they had not received the correct orders from my doctor, but when I called the front office, Gloria stayed on the phone with me for almost an hour as I was waiting to be seen at the lab. She wanted to make sure I was able to get the test I needed before the lab closed that day. I am so grateful for their level of care. read more

This review is for Maria Mank NP at 65 N Madison, Pasadena office. I am so appalled by her actions to write this review to warn others. I was having an infection; I couldn't get appt with my PCP in time so I decided to see one of the doctors there instead of going to an urgent care. Big mistake! After my visit (on a 3rd day), my infection was getting worse; however, I was not able to reach the doctor who saw and examined me because he had left for a vacation. Unfortunately, he had no backup plans for my infection despite knowing he was going to be on vacation the next day! Poor management part?! The nurse, Maria Mank, was covering for him while he's on vacation. Despite of the fact I had told her that my infection had gotten worse and office will be closed on the weekend, she decided that she wanted me to come in for another visit with her. Mind you, I have a job that I can't just leave. What's more, I just had an in-person visit there 2 days ago. Could she not read the note on my chart from Dr. John Wear?! She referred me to see a specialist! Seriously!? Would anyone wait to see a specialist in a few months while having an active infection? Frankly, I shouldn't have to pay for another visit when I just had one 2 days ago, Maria! I am in medical field so I know there are always alternatives when one med doesn't work. There're also 1st, 2nd, and 3rd line medications that any competent doctors would give patients when 1st line of treatment fails. Google is even more knowledgeable than her. Maria Mank had refused to prescribe any alternatives, and chose to have a patient suffer over the weekend instead. Hey Maria, do you think I'm going to abuse an antibiotic? I understand I would need a visit if I was seeking control substances. That was not the case. Her actions showed that she does not care about patients at all--she lacks empathy, professionalism, and most importantly competency! Avoid her! To the management at 65 N Madison office: Dr. Truong has been wonderful and she has nothing to do with this incident (Maria Mank is her nurse). Love the physicians, but dislike the difficulty of booking appointments. Came to this office for a blood draw after fasting 10-12 hours. Blood results need to be ready 2 weeks prior to any physical for evaluation. The wait time to schedule an appointment over the phone took about 20-30 minutes and my doctor's availability was 6-months out. The health facility has a small, private, and paid parking lot. I paid $5 when I came in 2022. Street parking is available as well, but it can be hard to find. The day of my visit (2/12/2024), one of the elevators wasn't working and I saw several people misunderstand the sign and walk up 8 flights of stairs. It's more of a building maintenance issue, but thought I'd comment that here. Maria was my phlebotomist and she asked me to fill out some paperwork before my blood draw. The patient before me cancelled, so she took me in early. I'm not a fan of needles in general, and joked saying "my veins are too small" and Maria played along and said "I can't get out of this one" because she has small needles. She's hilarious, professional, calm, and excellent at her job. She can make anyone who's afraid of needles feel comfortable. Check-in reminders were sent to my email and texted to my phone. Bills, upcoming appointments, lab results, and early check-in are easy to track at My CS-Link. The scheduling for future appointments is my only drawback. read more

Dr Richard Wear was recommended to me by our pediatrician when my son aged out of pediatrics. Now, my husband and son are both patient of his and they can't speak highly enough of him. He's very knowledgeable, thorough, and caring. My husband and my son don't write reviews so I'm doing it for them and according to them, they are very pleased. So I have no skin in the game. Just thought I would give him a shout out. And the fact that he was highly recommended by my pediatrician says a lot. read more

I have to echo previous reviews about the difficulty of making appointments at this office. I really like my doctor, Dr. Truong, but it's a 6+ month wait for annual physicals, and that's after you're able to make an appointment, which I've been actively trying to do for over a month. It seems that the main office line does not work consistently, or is often tied up and the call will not go through. I genuinely worry about being about to reach my physician at this office when something urgent arises. read more

This office sucks on pharmacy follow up. CVS tried to contact them for my prescription refill 4 times this week and they never responded. The whole Huntington Health system has gone downhill rapidly since acquisition by Cedars. You can't get through to anyone on the phone without being on hold more than 15 minutes. read more

Everything from the Doctor (Stuart Miller) to the Call center representative was terrible. Sometimes I will ask the doctor a question and he stares at me and doesnt answer my question. One time he got up and walked out of the room and never came back. I didnt even have a chance to discuss any of my health concerns with him. I was pressured to get a flu shot there in October of 2020. shot left a lump on my arm and discoloration of the skin. I didnt notice until April 2021 because its in an area thats hard to see. Brought it to Drs attention he said dont worry about it. I ask again and he just stares at me and doesnt answer the question. Only time ever doctor expressed a willingness to be helpful was when he found out I didnt have a covid jab. He offered to answer any questions I had about covid but I told him I dont have any questions about covid. All the questions I do have about anything else unrelated to covid goes un answered. Another time I went in again and saw the nurse practitioner. told her doctor told me not to worry about the lump created about the flu shot and she insinuated that it was my fault and not a lump created by the flu shot which is completely false. Doctor doesnt seem to care at all about my questions and concerns. Shows very little interest to look into or address any of my concerns. Its as if he only gets paid to push covid covid covid and nothing else. What started out as one problem is now multiple problems because the initial problem was/is not resolved or left untreated and health problems begin to accumulate and pile up. Nothing gets resolved. There is no effort to follow up or actually resolve any problem from small to big. Lots of office mistakes. The online portal is full of inaccurate information about my health such as medical conditions or medications being taken. Too much to say here but hopefully you get the idea. The opposite of "Heroes" in my experience. Unfortunately its gotten to the point where I feel like Im being discriminated against for something. Dr. My-Linh Truong, DO has great bedside manners, shows care and concern and spent a long time with me for each visit (over an hour because I had multiple issues). What doctor spends more than 15 minutes with a patient nowadays? Only Dr. Truong. I could not be more impressed with the quality of care I received from Dr. Truong. She was very knowledgeable, efficient and took the time to address all my questions and concerns. Dr. Truong really took the time to address my whole health and even the testing was painless. The front desk staff could be more friendly but they get the job done. When I asked for copies of my medical documents, they sent them without having to follow up. I have called in the past for urgent issues and they usually try their best to fit me in. I haven't had much luck with doctors, but Dr. Truong has been an awesome discovery. read more

I recently saw Allison Curtis, NP for the first time after experiencing some testicular pain. I first called the office on the Sunday during their on-call hours. Thank god that the on-call physician was my internist Dr. Miller; he gave me two options, 1) go to Urgent Care 2) see Allison the next day during the morning. I went with Allison and he made sure I was seen in the morning by her. I did call the office on Monday to let them know I will be coming in to see Allison as Dr. Miller said I could while he was on call, they told me he notified the office staff that I would be coming in to see her. I feel guilty in saying this but I liked Allison better than Dr. Miller (note Dr. Miller has a superb bedside manner) as she is great at care coordination. She ordered me a STAT Ultrasound and did a UA in the office in which she sent to LabCorp. She got back to me the same day with Ultrasound report and made sure I was able to follow-up with a Urologist the same week. In all, being a NP Allison has great knowledge in medicine and has great people skills and coordination; I definitely will see her when needed in addition to Dr. Miller. read more

Incompetent and useless. After stubbing my foot on my kids high chair, and the pain was excruciating, i decided to make a doctors apppintment with Dr. My Linh Truong. Even though i made my appointment with the Doctor, i had been seen by the NP, Alison. Alison sent me to get an X-ray and when i eventually got my results back, they stated they saw nothing. They didn't give me any solution. A few weeks later, after the pain hadn't gotten any better, I decided to see an orthopedic surgeon. Come to find out, my foot was broken and had healed incorrectly (6 weeks after the Initial hit). I would need a surgery to fix the damage or i would be in pain for months to even years. I am unable to wear any closed toe shoes thanks to the brains of this office staff that can't read an X-ray. I had retrieved the X-ray and had the ortho look at them. When he saw the results he asked if they had asked to see me again and my answer was no. The X-ray was inconclusive due to the swelling. When the X-ray showed severe swelling, they should have advised me to come back for another reading. Not send me off as if all i needed was a bandaid. They then kept billing me (Total of 5x) after i had spoken to them and discussed my issues. After each call, they reassured me i won't be billed anymore. They had the audacity to bill me for the co pay and the difference between what the insurance covered which was $44. Even though they made the mistake of reading the results incorrectly, they still thought it was acceptable to charge me and the insurance company. This office is filled with greed and 0 ethics. How dare you bill the insurance company and a patient for damaging their daily life? You failed at your job, you should not have the right to charge someone. This wasn't a misdiagnoses, this was pure carelessness. I have two kids and can't even get my foot into a sneaker let alone any shoe to be able to walk outside with them and it's been 6 months!!!! Shame on you guys. Do yourselves a favor and do not even bother with this office. Save your sanity and time and make sure to be seen by competent doctors. read more

This place is HORRIBLE! I wish I had read the Yelp reviews and saved myself the pain of dealing with their billing office. I went in for a physical, which is free once a year. I also had blood work done which, if it's only routine blood work, is also a free part of the physical. The doctor marked down that we discussed things beyond a physical because I requested B12 be added to my blood work. I was under the impression that I would pay for the B12 and everything else would be covered. Wrong! Because the doctor made notes that we discussed things further, when I literally just asked for B12 and that was it, I was charged a $25 copay. She also processed the blood work as non routine and charged me another $75 for that. So now, something that was supposed to be simple and free, now suddenly costs close to $100?? I called the billing office who kept giving me the run around. They finally directed me to the office manager who doesn't answer the phone. After a couple weeks I finally get some answers and she basically tells me she can't help me and to open a claim with my insurance company. I opened the claim and, surprise surprise, my insurance company can't get through to these people either! Fast forward to October. Mind you my appointment was in JUNE. They adjusted the blood work so I would only pay for the B12 but would not budge on the copay. In the end I'm still out $45 for a typically free appointment. I am a new patient of Dr. Truong and I have to say up to this point she has exceeded my expectations. I have procrastinated my annual exams for a few years now as the doctors I have previously seen have not had a very good bedside manner and I didn't want to deal with them. Dr. Truong is the opposite. I am actually looking forward to my follow-up appointment as much as one would look forward to a doctor's appointment. She is very approachable and patient with questions. My doctor visit with Stuart Miller was fairly decent for a first visit. With more and more doctor offices now seeing you as a dollar sign and not a patient/individual looking for help, my expectations are usually low. I was following up with a prescription that had not been filled and was told that I had to contact the pharmacy to get the doctor office to send them a prescription. Huh??? The person on the line kept on trying to either change the subject or deny helping me. Once she tried to change the subject asking if I had gotten an appointment with a different doctor. I did not, and this had nothing to do with the prescriptions that had not been filled or sent to a pharmacy a month ago, when I met with my doctor. One of the main functions of a doctor's office is to provide prescriptions for medications. Treating a patient like they are a nuisance for asking to follow up on a prescription and to send to a different pharmacy should not cause a big strain to your office. The mail away pharmacy that I had been using said they could not confirm with the doctor's office (HHP-Madison ) and would not fill my other two prescriptions. This was my first visit with Huntington Health Physicians at Madison. My visit with Dr. Stuart Miller was fine but this encounter with his office staff left me with a horrible off put attitude. I even had to raise my voice telling her to stop as she kept trying to tell me she couldn't help me when sending a prescription to a pharmacy. I just wanted to pass along my unpleasant encounter with the staff. This type of attitude works great with a cable provider or phone service, but doesn't really work with a doctor's office. I just lowered my review to one star due to the fact that the person at the Madison office messed up the prescription order sent to the pharmacy. I can't begin to stress how happy I am that I came across Dr. Truong. She is knowledgeable, professional, patient, kind, and actually listens to what I have to say. I suffer from chronic health issues and unfortunately I've had my share of horribly inept doctors and traumatizing appointments. wow. i'd read here about how incompetent and rude the front desk staff was but i didn't expect quite their level of idiocy. the doc i wanted (tilem) showed as having awesome reviews on various sites, including several that said she WAS taking new patients. i called in and she was NOT, but i was offered truong or nandi. ok, so i got off the phone and researched them both. truong seemed really nice but HOLY HECK STAY AWAY FROM NANDI based on ALL the various sites reviews (including the ones from the insurance companies themselves) ... not just the consistently awful ones here. so i call back to get an appointment to see truong and the gal at the front asks me a a couple of questions (no biggie) then asks me for my insurance id number. totally fine, but i needed to go to another room to find the card so asked her if there was anything else she could ask me in the meantime. no, she said. really??? you HAVE to go IN ORDER in the fields? you haven't even asked me my name but you MUST ONLY answer this particular question? i know it seems like a tiny thing, but truly - i don't really want to go to place where the front desk staff don't even know how to tab forward to get to another field - or are too lazy to do so - so i can get off the phone and on with my day. read more

I've never been guilted about my health and she's always been able to help me out with anything I need. I don't have any health issues at the moment so I can't comment on needing a lot of specific care. The exact same thing happened to me in regards to being charged a separate fee for blood work in Dr. Nandi's office. ($188) I'm still arguing this fact with my insurance company. I also asked Dr. Nandi if she knew a good dermatologist, but she never referred me to anyone. I also had a terrible experience with Dr. Nandi last year, and I'm still angry. She recommended I go have this test I didn't want done. I just had some really upsetting news, I was crying; I asked her why I needed it, what it would tell me, if it would inform some kind of action that we would follow up on, but she couldn't really answer directly. Instead she insisted it was "a good idea, just so we know". I ask if it's covered by insurance. She says yes. So I trust Dr. Nandi knows what's best, get the test done, and the nurse is surprised that I'm even there because "it won't tell me anything, way too early to test". THE TEST WAS USELESS THERE WAS NEVER EVEN A CHANCE IT WOULD WORK. They take my insurance information at the front desk. Then I get a $400 bill for the test. The whole thing was a scam: the test was totally inappropriate, and insurance did not cover it. TL;DR Do not trust her, she is not on your side. She lied and mislead me. read more

Update: My husband left the practice, as well. He was Dr. Wear's patient. Dr. Wear did not inform my husband that his kidney function appeared abnormal on a blood test. We saw the results on the patient portal and my husband had to call and ask for Dr. Wear's opinion on the result. Dr. Wear said it was "not too bad" and to watch it for 6 months. We were not satisfied with this response. My husband made an appt. with a nephrologist in Pasadena instead and got the problem addressed. My husband now sees Dr. Beutler, who is by far, the BEST DOCTOR he's ever seen. Unfortunately for me, the only insurance she takes is Medicare, but my husband is thrilled with her thoroughness. She spent 90 minutes with him on his initial visit! She also follows up by email and ordered some baseline scans to detect possible lung cancer, since my husband smoked for many years. I am flabbergasted by the reviews I have read, as I have been a patient of Dr. Tilem for nearly 28yrs (started prior to her joining this practice)and have nothing but praise for her. I have seen most of the other doctors at HHP 65 N. Madison suite 800 over the years and have never had a bad experience. The front and back office staff are amazing. I'd like to give a shout out to Jackie in reception. People need to remember that the majority of the time we go to the doctor we do not feel good, hence maybe what you experienced is more what you are going through rather than a bad office experience. AND since I'm in healthcare I'd never question a bill for a co-pay for a physical, as per insurance protocol a physical doesn't include asking questions about other health issues. Ridiculous-BUT has nothing to do with the office billing practices. Blame your insurance..... My insurance requires that I go to a UCLA clinic for a physical each year, even though I will never see that doctor again.... Anyways Dr. Tilem is amazing, Allison Curtis NP. Is great and I have nothing bad to say about the other doctors that work there. The front and back office staff really do care about their patients too, so I give this practice 5 stars. read more

I'm a realtor and this is the only place in Pasadena that accepts my insurance--I was skeptical. I have never been in a primary physicians office that was as finely tuned as this office. They respect your time and I never get more than a few pages into a magazine before they call you back to a room, and I will not wait long at all to see the doctor. The MA for Dr. Truong are professional and thorough. Dr Truong truly listens and works to resolve your issues, and all with a wonderful demeanor. Billing, RX (refill) and appointments never an issue. I called for a new medication over the phone and the doctor herself called me back within the hour. It's old time medicine at its best. read more

I don't go to the doctor very often. The last time I went was probably 15 years ago. I chose this healthcare center because it was within my network and my original doctor I chose wasn't available to so I went with Dr. Truong. I love Dr. Truong! She spent so much time with me just chatting and getting to know me. We talked about some of my family health issues and she gave me advice and some referrals. Since then my sister and boyfriend have also gone to see her. Getting a blood test was super fast and easy at Quest in the same building. Their results come back so quick (blood test came back the next day and Pap smear the day after). You can check everything on their app and it explains everything in detail. Parking in a private lot (street parking is only an hour). Don't forget to look at your parking space # before you pay at the station because you take the ticket with you. read more

Interesting to read all these negative reviews on Dr. Nandi. I went in for a physical, I had a minor break out on my chin and she asked me if I took meth!! It was just totally out of context, a weird question and I'll admit, a little insulting. I went back because I had a chest cold that wouldn't go away, she told me I had pneumonia (no x-ray I was just supposed to take her at her word) and gave me antibiotics. After two rounds, it didn't work. I ended up going to a naturopath. My husband goes to Dr. Wear and likes him, hence the 2 star review. read more

They were soooo rudeeeee and intolerable, if I want to be frank with you I'd say total b....... They decided that because I'm complaining about my doctor which screwed my health I shouldn't see any other doctors there. This place is terrible! Same problems with Dr. Nandi! I got into a mild motorcycle accident my knees did not seem to suffer any damage at first but now I can't bend them with out them cracking and they sometimes give out on me when I walk. (I am 24, hence, not normal!) Well, I went in for a check up with Dr. Nandi and explained the whole situation she said she would request physical therapy for me 2 months ago. Avoid at all cost! I decided to venture out on my own and get my own doctor. I started seeing Dr. Nandi and all visits were very rushed. I figured she was just always booked up so I shrugged it off. During my yearly physical last year (which my insurances covers) she was asking me about all the basics since it is a physical. Months later I get a call from her office saying I had a balance of $30. Confused I asked what it was from since I always pay at the location and I was told "Dr. Nandi felt like you asked too many questions" I'm sorry, you're going to charge a 19 year old girl for asking too many questions about her body during a check up??? I then told them that Dr. Nandi had never made me aware of the boundaries and asked if I would want to do a follow up appointment. They replied with, "well we are currently working on a way to make our patients aware that they will be charged." I sent a letter to the medical building explaining my situation and never heard back. If there were negative stars I would give this place -5. I agree with all the comments. This practice is unethical. I have been disputing a charge beyond my co-pay for a preventive care visit with no success. They claim that because the doctor talked to me, then it is not preventive but a consultation. If you go to preventive care physical exam, don't answer the questions the doctor asks you, because if you do, and she responds, then they would consider it a consultation. Stay away. This is my first review on yelp ever, but I believe medical practices like these need to be shut down! read more

I see Dr Nandi here. Although it is a very busy office I really like that she is very available. I am able to schedule appointments within a week. She is very diligent about testing, blood work, ultrasounds, and X-rays to try to determine what issues are present. I love her assistant she is always very sweet. read more
