I had him in another learning center, but their non hands on cookie cutter approach just did not work for him. I had to really fight the school district to get him out of special education. Don't get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with special education, if in fact they are teaching the children appropriately. When he came home with coloring in the 9 th grade of HS, the fight of our lives were on. They kept telling me he was incapable, but in reality they had no plan in place and already judge all the special education children as incapable. I had been placated all through middle school and I had enough! I enrolled him in 9 th grade algebra at Mathnasium of Clermont. Good old fashion teaching, just 1:1 teaching, this was the best for him; he went three times a week. No computer, just math, paper & pencil. Kristian confidence grew as they worked with him, he was committed to work hard. The environment was very loving, caring, and conducive to learning. They had a plan of teaching in place with measurable outcomes. He passed algebra and felt he needed a break from tutoring. I believe in the 10th grade he was mainstream out of special education, he still needs a IEP( Individual education Plan) Kristian was on the honor roll all the way, Magna Cum Laude in 9 th , and Cum Laude in 10th. In the 11th grade he had three honor classes and excelled in Geometry. In the 11th grade it was suggested that he be dually enrolled in college classes, but I felt that was too much. Today the principal informed us that Kristian made Summa Cum Laude the high academic honor. He also will be dually enrolled, in 12 grade HS and in college earning college credits. I owe a great deal of gratitude to Ms Ranette and her team at Mathnasium of Clermont. They help Kristian to realize that he could learn & believe me he had a lot of catching up to do! His confidence grew, he was so committed, and worked very hard. I give honor where honor is due, I honor Kristian, Mathnasium of Clermont, and I praise the Lord! A kid who they refuse to teach, felt he was incapable, look at him now! Kristian you will continue to excel and learn as much as you desire. Nothing can stop you and there is no limits to what you can accomplish! Do you, be you, do what you were created by God to do! Love you to infinity!

We…read morefound a significant gap between the values the school teaches and the way our family was treated. What happened to our 11-year-old daughter was deeply painful and, in our view, reflects a serious failure in leadership and accountability. There do not appear to be sufficient checks and balances to prevent abuses of authority or to recognize the harm that administrative decisions can cause to children and their families. No family should have to endure an experience like ours. Despite everything, we refuse to let this heartbreaking experience damage our faith in Jesus or God. However, I can understand how other families might struggle after being treated this way by an institution that claims to represent Christian values. I hope the administration takes time for honest self-reflection and works to ensure that no other child or family experiences what ours did.
