We always find something new and fun. I've tried shopping around but have given up on it because I always come back to Huntree. The quality of the plants can't be beat and the prices are decent. I buy plants and trees for Michigan and Illinois now. I always feel good about my purchases and better when they come back in the spring (I don't buy annuals). read more

I left a voicemail in the morning and had a call back in minutes and couldn't have been more pleased with the help from Cindy. This is my favorite nursery! Not just because of their wonderful plants, but because of their service. They really do care about their customers and staff, and are being very careful to follow the governor's guidelines with signs posted posted outside (that are not angry at all), and large enough to see before you enter the store. I was there 3 days ago and was so glad to be back and talk with the owner, who wore a mask herself as did all her staff. Like many Michigan residents, we care equally about protecting others, and since there is no way to know if those who don't wear masks are not potentially contagious because they have had covid or have antibodies, we are trying to be respectful of the concerns of our fellow citizens. I have been to plant and nature workshops here, browsed many times and spoken with the owner who has ALWAYS been extremely helpful, whether with questions about plant selection, plant diseases, soil problems, whatever. The owner is a soft-spoken woman who takes time with her customers, and she is an advocate for her staff and customers. I cannot picture her "accosting" anyone verbally, but I think she has every right to be an advocate for her business,customers and staff, in this confusing time. Happy to have my newly purchased plants in the ground, and will always support Jan and Huntree Nursery! read more

This nursery is exceptional; the plants are quite varied and always terrific; the owners, Jan & David, and staff members are very knowledgeable and helpful. Lovely nursery in the Michigan countryside, just a couple of miles from Saugatuck. They have a great selection of shrubs & trees at fair prices. The stock is healthy, well labeled and attractively displayed on a lawn with mature trees and grassy aisles. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. They have many cultivars of hydrangeas and viburnum. There was a non-invasive columnar buckthorn cultivar I've never seen before; shade and sun vines; a gold cultivar of elderberry and many other scrumptious shrubs. They also have fruit stock -- blueberries, grapes, gooseberries, etc. Too bad my climate & shady yard won't let me try these! They also have ornamental grasses, a small but decent selection of junipers, hollies, yews and other evergreens, and cold frames full of hostas, roses and other perennials. You can easily spend a couple of hours here enjoying the plants and dreaming about how to make room for just a few more in your garden. read more

I am so grateful to Huntree for being open and for following guidelines so well. It is not fun to have to do everything the long way and to wear a mask all day long. I know it must be hard to deal with customers who cannot seem to care about this community. I feel for you.Know that so many of us do appreciate your efforts. I am shocked at how little some folks know about transmitting disease. Immunity is not apparent to other people, so don't expect people in businesses to take your word. If you truly are immune and you are going store to store, you still can spread disease by handling things that carriers have handled-money, credit cards, bags, etc. You have rights, yes. You do not have the right to infect me or to cause a second and third wave of this virus with your careless and uninformed behavior. You think businesses will survive that? Please, support businesses that are trying as hard as this one. read more

This is a wonderful nursery owned by a really nice couple who employ a highly knowledgeable staff, all of whom can provide extensive information about everything carried here. I love it that they have very big, healthy plants, and also have different things than just the typical plants and trees carried everywhere. They do have the popular things, too, but you can also find trees and plants you don't find everywhere else. Prices are marginally higher than other places, but for the size, health, and selection of their plants, shrubs, trees, you absolutely get what you pay for. read more

I've used Huntree since we moved here 13 years ago. The Landrys and the staff are knowledgeable, friendly, and helpful. They've helped solve problems, found native Michigan plants, and recommended ways to deter deer from lunching in my garden. They provide excellent value. I highly recommend Huntree. read more
