The nursery was packed with both old standards and new, unique varieties, which was delightful. I could have walked around for ages and I'm sure my family would say that I already did! The staff here is excellent- several staff members were able to walk me around and help me to find exactly the variety that would work best for me in several situations... and I'm pretty picky, as a landscape architect and horticulturist. It was like candy for me to be able to walk around with these experts and pick their brains on different qualities of each cultivar- I learned new things, which is always a win. In the end, I went home with a Baetzella peony that I had been searching for at a very good price, a great dwarf Japanese Maple (they have so many to choose from!), and a unique, funny little evergreen that they bred right there at the nursery. Especially if you're looking for a nursery with a great evergreen selection and a lot of knowledge, this is a must-see.

They used to have a lot of help out in the store, most looked like college students and were always really nice and happy to help. Today I had to walk all over trying to find help. Finally found someone, asked her a question and she didn't even stop to speak to me, just walked past saying, "HE works in this department" and was gone. I looked around, and 2 aisles over there appeared to be the "HE" she mentioned, a younger guy watering plants. i walked over there and he didn't even stop watering or look at me, so I said, "Excuse me, do you have organic vegetable plants?" He turned to look at me seemed annoyed I disturbed his plant watering, and said, "No." Then turned away. The store doesn't seem to carry anywhere near the amount of plants they have in previous years, not the selection I expected there at all. Very disappointing. They don't give you plastic sheets to protect your car anymore, which seems like a cheapskate move on their part, and just another drop in customer service like having so few employees on hand to help customers. In past years I've gone back several times and left with my Jeep loaded with plants. I won't bother with a second trip this year and probably won't bother going at all next year or in future years. Shopping at Countryside used to be simething fun I really looked firward to. Looks like those days are over.

When we first entered, we were a bit disappointed as it was a small patch of garden that was quite crowded with people taking photos (family photos, graduation photos, the works...), but once we turned the corner to the massive field of flowers, it took my breath away. This place was fantastic to view tulips and experience the magic of being amongst a field of flowers, and we were so excited to have the opportunity to order bulbs to plant in our own garden from the varietals we saw in the gardens. Note: restroom facilities and food options are quite limited during peak season, so plan accordingly!
