Each bite made me hungrier... - The Lowdown: Greeted with a bib, I already like this place. The smell of beef ribs arrived much before the meal, but upon arrival they were nothing short of spectacular; piping hot, smothered in delicious basting sauce, beef so tender it couldn't part with the bone fast enough! Writing this I'm hungry for ribs again... - Weapon of choice: Hands - Pro Tip: Order a side of basting sauce - the sauce they use for the ribs. The "monkey gland" sauce is also a great chip dunker - don't worry, no monkeys are harmed in making the sauce.

    It's never quiet at Hurricaines!!

I was hesitant to try Hurricaines Top Ryde as I have been to Hurricaines Darling Harbour a few times and was fearful that the different venue wouldn't live up to my expectations - but it did! The ribs here are amazing!! And massive!! A full rack is not for the faint of heart!! The pork ribs are the item to get.. With out a doubt... As long as you don't mind getting a bit messy that is! Biggest tip = don't wear white! I ended up sporting a joker like grin across my face of the delicious sauce! This place gets pretty busy so I would highly recommend that you book well ahead of time! I however, did not book. When we arrived we were advised of around a 30 minute wait for a table. He took our names and we went for a stroll and then came back to Hurricaines to sit at the bar and sneak in a cheeky drink before dinner! The wait for the table was nearly exactly as previously estimated! My only dislikes were that my chips had no salt and when I asked a waitress for salt she didn't bring salt (she wasn't the waitress that was covering our table). But when I asked our waitress for salt it was promptly supplied. Hurricaines, I will be back..

Ribs (half rack of lamb) and steak (200g) combo ($49) + Corona ($9).

Went there for dinner in a group of two adults. Despite being a fairly large restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, booking is advised as this place gets pretty packed, even on weeknights. Parking is not an issue as it is located in the piazza area of Top Ryde Shopping Centre. Bathrooms are not located within the restaurant but are located within 100m. In terms of catering for kids, baby seats are provided although I have not really seen any prams during my visits there. Waiters are friendly and attentive to your needs. We were seated outside, which was a bit chilly (I did not see any form of outdoor heating although that might be because it is summer). There was also a weird smell ever so often as we were seated near a common corridor that was used by other restaurants. On this visit I ordered the steak and ribs, which comprised of a 200g sirloin, a half rack of lamb ribs (you can choose from lamb, pork or beef ribs) and a side of either chips or mash. I ordered my steak medium rare. As a sauce on the side I ordered Peri Peri. The food took approximately 20 minutes to arrive, which was decent given how busy the restaurant was. The portion of ribs were generous and tasted deliciously tender whilst coupled with a BBQ basting. The steak on the other hand was decent in size and tender but honestly nothing to really rave about. Having said that, the combo complimented each other in that the steak broke the monotonous taste when you eat too much BBQ ribs in one sitting. Chips were good and went well with the Peri Peri sauce, which was the perfect level of spiciness. The meal went down well with a Corona. Satisfying your meat cravings does however come with a hit to the hip pocket. Hurricanes is quite pricey for a dinner at the local shopping centre. The ribs and steak combo cost $49 and the Corona was $9. For a casual dinner out, you are looking at over $100 for a dinner for two. Despite being a fantastic experience, I wonder if this is an experience that most people can afford on a regular basis. In essence, if you're looking for a meaty experience around this area, you cannot go past Hurricanes.

Anema E Core is a little restaurant (there is only two tables inside opposite their massive coffee machine and their indoor wood fired pizza oven, the rest of the tables are outside and with the weather being rainy they were not set up yet. We ordered the 4 Formaggi (Gorgonzola, Smoked buffalo Mozzarella, fiordilatte, Shaved Parmesan, basil, olive oil) Crudo E Rucola ( Rocket, prosciutto, shaved Parmesan, basil, olive oil) and for dessert the Nutella pizza all for takeaway. The base is ridiculously soft! I am in heaven. Nom nom nom I love this place! Staff are friendly and the chefs have a think Italian accent which adds to the authenticity of this tiny restaurant. We have booked to go again this Sunday, looking forward to trying their other pizzas and the coffee! Ciao :)

It's a small restaurant with a pizza oven but they mount massive tents outside which is where the customers sit. I was concerned that it would be cold in the tent but they had heaters heating up the massive tents. Although the weather is warm and cold at the moment!! Anema E Core is really busy so I recommend you book beforehand.I have read wonderful things about how great their pizza is so I was eager to check it out. The table next to us orders a metre long pizza which looks spectacular. I order the "081" pizza which has a tomato base with mozzarella, ham, mild salami, ricotta, black pepper with basil and olive oil. The pizza came out so quickly and looked amazing. What an efficient kitchen Anema E Core has.The base is nice and doughy. The toppings are basic but come well together like real authentic pizza. I would strongly endorse their pizzas!! Yummo. I also order some dessert including the Nutella donut ( $7). It's quite a sizeable donut, comparable to a small cake. The donut is cut in half with nutella. It's topped with a bit of cream, strawberries, icing sugar and drizzled with more chocolate. Yummo. I love nutella so this donut went down like a treat. woot woot. $7 is also a nice price tag.

The whole place was booked out but we were pretty much the first table there. It was a muggy afternoon/night and the aircon was cranking. Nice. However for some reason one of the vents was leaking water and dripping right in the centre of my sister in laws head. My pregnant sister in law.. When we asked to be moved it was like I'd just asked for a million dollars!! Totally understand you guys are booked out so let's shuffle the table 30cm back.. reasonable. No we can't sorry. Wait what? Plenty of room to move back for both tables to get in and out. No sorry can't do that. After a few slightly awkward moments they agreed and it was done. Geez that was difficult. ahem. Now to the food! It was delicious, really authentic proper Lebanese food that was on par with my mums cooking. Bread kept running out though. Bread is cutlery for Lebanese food and every time I had to try super hard to flag down someone. BUT the only food item I didn't like was the dessert baklava. Now I know my Leb sweets and this was horrible. I also know that Lebanese are not stingy with coffee and sweets. These people were. Never have I been to a Lebanese restaurant or any middle eastern place that pours the coffee out on the traditional tiny cups then takes the coffee away.. WhaaAat! That's a massive no no. My grandma would have lost it if she was there! Come on guys I already paid $45pp give me a second cup of coffee 5cm worth. The service and hospitality I am used at middle eastern places was completely missed at this place which is soo disappointing. That's the part I treasure the most. Oh and one more thing. 2 pregnant ladies were also dinning with us and asked for a herbal tea instead of coffee. No. $4 extra. As we were walking out the owner caught us and we informed her of why we were not pleased and she very generously gave us 2 takeaway cups of herbal tea.. Thanks for that! But a little to late.

Don't think will ever visit again given the choices avilable for lebanese food in Sydney.

We get food here at least once or twice a week. My favourites are the chicken katsu roll, which is breaded chicken and cream cheese yummy yummy goodness, and the grilled salmon sushi. My husband's favourite is the sashimi don which is steamed rice topped with sashimi slices and vege and hot chili sauce. We also love the takoyaki and often have to fight with each other about who gets a bigger half of the serving. They have bento boxes costing $14-$17 which are really great value considering you get a main dish with rice, sashimi, sushi and a side salad. The rice dishes are good too but I kind of prefer those from Tatsuya. Yatai's sushi rolls are pretty big and I often have problem finishing one order so I always have something leftover to takeaway. Their sushi and sashimi sets are also great value, but as I don't eat raw sushi or sashimi, my husband can only look at other diners who order these with wide eyed jealousy as he has no one to share the massive set with. Quite often during the evening rush when commuters are coming home from work, the place gets packed but service is quick so you don't have to wait too long for a table. We always get a smile and greeting from everyone from the servers to the chefs/cooks in the kitchen when we come and we go and it just adds so much more to the experience. Couple that with the great tasting and affordable food makes this restaurant a real winner.

As far as my memory goes, the best combo of ingredients I've ever seen on a pizza, what a brillant idea, loved it! No wonder when I brought him home to share with the friend I was staying with she told me not only this was the pizza place she was going to, but that this shoreline pizza actually was her favorite, not just a crazy coincidence I believe, but another proof of their good work!
