We passed by Huset a few times during our first day in Mexico City, and after seeing their beautiful terrace, knew we had to come back. We ended up coming here for an early dinner on Friday night without a reservation, and were sat immediately. We ordered the squash salad and the ceviche to start, and shared the gnocchi and hanger steak as our mains. Both appetizers were missing something, from a flavor perspective. They had odd sweet notes, but were lacking any real bite or texture contrast. The gnocchi and hanger steak, on the other hand, were very very rich and fatty. The cut of meat we received was honestly 50% pure fat, and 50% of meat, which was just too much. I did really like the broccolini that came with the hanger steak though, and the gnocchi was perfectly decadent. The highlight here was definitely the dessert -- we got the brioche with goat's milk sauce, and the guava cheesecake. Both delicious! read more

I came here at the recommendation of American Express, much like several of the other reviewers. Given that this was our special night out, and how highly recommended this restaurant came, I really wanted to like this place. To give credit where due, the patio is simply awesome..I literally wish I had one like this at home. Service started out very attentive and friendly and became less and less as it started getting busier. Food was underwhelming overall...see the breakdown below cocktails: Absolutely amazing. I had el Tuxpan, and it was quite nice. Not heavy on the mescal, but a good balance of sweet and smoky. Appetizers: Burrata - quite tasty and the tomatoes were lovely! Aguachiles - again, lovely. I could have (and should have) just ordered this as my meal and been quite happy. Mains: Ribeye - flavor was nice, but in general I have found cooking temperatures tend downward from US standards. ie, Medium Well here is more like Medium at home. The mole that came with the dish was nice, but the plantain sitting on top of it ruined it. Literally, the combination wasn't worth eating. Robalo - recommended by the server, but it was bland. To the point of questioning whether it was seasoned at all. The salad dressing that accompanied the dish was quite nice, but really...if that is what I complimenting, it's hardly a compliment. Sea bass - again, unseasoned. The "swede puree" (probably turnips) was nice...but again, that was better than the dish itself. Side of Brussels sprouts - came out long after we finished our meals. We didn't even want it anymore. To add insult to the late arrival, they were mushy and totally over powered by a balsamic dressing. I'd skip these even if they arrived on time. Given the less than stellar main courses, we opted against dessert...and got our check instead. In summary, and piggy backing off what someone else said. This place is good, but the competition has grown and you can find better at a fraction of the cost nearby...like Lardo. I would go there and spend less and get more. read more

OMG what a lovely restaurant both in atmosphere as well as culinary delights. Caesar salad, gnocchi and sea bass cerviche to begin were all so tasty. The gnocchi were heavenly pillows of perfect, Caesar salad was fresh and has such delicious croutons, and what a treat having cerviche on top of hummus, who would have thought? We had plenty of choices to choose from however chose this place for dinner because it was recommended by a friend who is a local. My sister and I made reservations online for 7:30 and arrived early. The hostess seated us in a dark room with empty tables and an empty bar, which made me quite confused because there was plenty of room on the patio. After being seated, even the bartenders looked confused why we were seated inside. After struggling to see the drink menu in the dark I ask the waiter if it was possible for us to relocate to the patio because I could barely read the menu in such darkness. He comes back and leads us to the waitress and she said she didn't want to seat us out there at first because there was a reservation at a table for 9:30... Beautiful patio setting. We had good drinks and the rib eye steak was okay, my sister had arroz con pollo which I liked. Attached is a picture of how empty the patio was shortly after we were seated outside. We finished the food within an hour.... Overall disappointed by the experience thanks to the hostess but the servers were great. read more

Went here on a recommendation from the Amex concierge and was not disappointed. For under $100 usd, we had a gnocchi appetizer, sea bass, grilled octopus, 2 cocktails, and a brioche dessert. Aside from the amazing prices for a gourmet meal, the food itself was delicious. The octopus was very tender and the sauce the gnocchi came in was so tasty. The service was very attentive and we felt comfortable all evening. The best part was definitely the ambiance. You're seated on an outdoor patio, but it is covered by lights. So gorgeous and they also have heaters in case you get cold. Would recommend for a special night out. read more

So this business listing seems to be for the restaurant, but did you know that there is also a hot yoga studio, coffee shop, hair salon, and vacation rental property in the same compound? I was lucky enough to stay in the housing part with a group of friends and it was so lovely to hang out on our rooftop patio and listen to the hum of conversation and good music wafting up from the restaurant below. We often started and ended our day with a drink and snack at Huset. I wasn't much in the drinking mood on the trip, so I ended up falling in love with their Bora Bora drink, which combined mango and coconut juices. It was the perfect refreshing beverage! We also tried their avocado pizza (even better than avocado toast in my opinion), arroz con pollo, and lots of other shared dishes as well as plenty of beer and mezcal. The service was always friendly and efficient, and there was always a spot for us to sit in their lovely outdoor area. I highly recommend both staying at their private mini inn type deal and eating at the restaurant. It's a perfect example of what a beautiful and delicious place Mexico City can be! read more

"It's like the Rainforest Cafe but boujee" - a friend. Eating here was one of the highlights of our trip to Mexico City. The beautiful ambience and interior design makes you feel like you're dining outdoors, despite the covered roof (which we were very thankful for when the rain started pouring down halfway through our meal). The service was prompt and attentive, my entree was great, the dessert was delicious and their cocktails were incredible. But I was absolutely BLOWN AWAY by how incredible the gnocchi appetizer was. Seriously. It was mind-blowing. It was so good that after we finished our entrees we ordered another serving of it before dessert. Get the gnocchi. You won't regret it. read more

This restaurant just canceled our confirmed reservation for Christmas Eve with ZERO notification. Unreal. Not a phone call, a voice message, a text, or an email, just a preposterous little notice on Open Table that said, "We canceled your reservation because we can't communicate." They can't communicate because they chose not to leave a voice message despite having our number! Apparently, they decided after confirming our reservation that they wanted a credit card deposit--which wouldn't been a problem had they simply left a message. Of course, Open Table states very clearly that restaurants should not call to demand a credit card after the fact so that's probably why they called in the middle of a workday, but did NOT to leave a message. In any case, they canceled our table after 48 hours bc we didn't notice in the flurry of OpenTable spam that they were trying to reach us with their sudden request. Gross. Try to go to their Website and you get a notice that it's not safe to open. I'll say. Thanks, guys. Merry Christmas. read more

What a disappointment. Not because of the food or the service but because we were placed in a side room for dinner. It's like two different restaurants. Imagine you're in Mexico City and super excited to enjoy a great food experience but instead you walk in the restaurant and the host guides you past the main dining room which is beautifully styled, full of life and exactly what you had expected from the images online. Just to get escorted to an empty five table side room between the bar and the actual restaurant. Not sure what the logic of this layout was but clearly the management at this restaurant is just interested in filling tables. I wanted so bad to like this place but unfortunately it was a total disappointment. Don't waste your time unless you actually get to eat in the actual main restaurant. read more

Huset absolutely knocks the chic, casual dining experience out of the park! We stopped in around 1pm for an appetizer and drinks and were completely blown away. The Ginger Tonic is just the right amount of tart and oh-so-refreshing. They have 6 interesting local beers on tap. The hands-down highlight of our visit, though, was the aperitivo - a fresh burrata with sweet balsamic glaze over the unlikely but incredibly tasty combo of pomegranate, mini onion, and bacon, with a side of fresh, crispy, flavorful bread with olive oil. The experience doesn't end at the delicious food, though; the dining area is gorgeous - completely covered by an ivy ceiling, with small fountains on the wall and tasteful lighting and chill, calming music - and very romantic. The wait staff is kind and attentive. Prices are higher than elsewhere in Mexico, but on par with what you'd see in the States - nothing crazy. Overall an incredible experience. Had two great bottles of affordable Mexican wine called Viernes. Now for the disappointing parts that will ensure I don't come again. The "grilled" romaine salad was not grilled. It was a lazy entire head of romaine fired on top with a butane flame but was done too close and the butane was a horrible part of the flavor. The octopus had chunks of fatty pork that shouldve been cripsy and was rather a rubbery texture and made it a one bite and done. The other dishes were decent but nothing to write about. read more

What can you possibly say about this place other than it's amazing. The main dining area is an open air atrium filled with gravel and the atmosphere is incredible. This is one of those restaurants you remember forever. The bar upstairs is a great place to wait was well. Didn't have reservations (as they were all gone) and waited 30 mins showing up at 8:30PM. Ordered red snapper- very small piece, overpowering sauce and didn't have the texture of fresh fish. Sort of mushy. I returned it and fortunately, they didn't charge me for it. I also ordered grilled vegetables. They had very little flavor and were cut into small pieces. My friend had the ribeye, which had a good flavor but lots of fat and gristle and wasn't as tender as you'd expect from a ribeye. The place was incredibly noisy with lots of boisterous groups.
