I bought this 2005 Silverado Crew Cab from Kevin Carlson who is the owner, operator of this business.
He's a very nice seeming fellow and an excellent salesman with a disarming demeanor.
When I originally looked at the truck he told me that he had bought it at auction as a repo. That the bidding was high and that they had done some things to the truck after buying, like new tires, new rotors and brake pads, two new window motors and two front door speakers as well as fixed an oil leak, and a tune up and fluids change .
We took it for about a three mile test run down the street to Santa Fe, Tx. and back.
I noticed some paint issues on the roof and he said he would send that to his paint and body guy for a repaint. (Had it looked at...bad clear coat nozzle spitting.)
I told him to call me and if I hadn't bought something I'd come back and look at the paint fix.
He called the following week as i was out test driving other vehicles and so I went back.
The paint was done and it was ok and the hood was sprayed as well.
There were some other little attempts a chip cover but it was an older ride....so....
He also said that the oil leak had reappeared and they had replaced the rear seal on the motor which required a transmission pull. He told me the trans looked like it might have been rebuilt within the last year and that the torque converter looked NEW.
I asked him to tell me if he knew of anything that I should know that would cost me a lot to fix because this was going to be about the end of what I had to work with. He said the rear shocks looked like they might need replacing but that was all he could think of.
He was asking $9995
I bought the truck for $9000 including TT&L.
I drove away in it and by the time I got to my daughters house in Humble, Texas I was sorry.
The truck had a shimmy or shudder and bumping from the suspension at highway speeds that seemed odd.
I called and he said to come back and let them check it. I did the next day and they said they found the tires unbalanced and did an alignment.
It was better but still not quite right.
I wanted to return it to them but that wasn't possible.
I replaced all 4 shocks and the steering bushing and upper and lower intermediate shafts on the steerng. It drives 95% better.
Then I discover that the heater has been disconnected by removing the hoses and capping them off.
So, I called Kevin AGAIN and get " Uh, I didn't know that. I didn't do anything wrong. I'm sorry but it's an old truck and not in perfect condition. I did nothing wrong. I drove it 1400 miles myself and it was fine."
It is Summer . I never tried the heater!
Professional Automotive and all that time supposedly working on it and didn't know the heater was bypassed. really? Hmmmm!
I had posted an unhappy review before but after a call from Kevin took it down. I decided to think it over to decide if I was being unfair BUT THAT WAS BEFORE THE HEATER ISSUE SHOWED UP!
I'm so sorry I dealt with Kevin and bought this truck. Especially after explaining my situation to him and asking for a fair and honorable deal!
All he had to do was point out a couple of details and I would have passed on this truck and asked him to find me something else, as a believer in his character.
Honesty is hard to find when money is at stake.
I have given this a lot of thought and in my 77 years have been wrong on multiple occasions but NEVER in MY memory was I subject to value a dollar more than good will from a client.
I'm tired of being an understanding or forgiving victim of a bad experience.
