We were in town for a race that my husband was running and stayed at Bright Morning Inn. The room was very nice and clean, well decorated and the bed was so amazingly comfy! They provide ear plugs for those that are light sleepers due to the building being old but even being a light sleeper, I did not need them. I did bring my sound machine which I am sure helped a little. Overall it was really quiet. More quite than some 5 star hotels I have stayed in. Easy check in and out. You do not even have to interact with anyone if you do not want to. The restaurant below the rooms was good as well. I think our room was right over the kitchen so we could smell food at times. Not my first choice , not even close. We had a basic breakfast of eggs, home fries, and bacon. Our eggs were Luke warm the potatoes also room temperature and off tasting, good thing we were under portion control , not your normal restaurant order amount. Our ask for crisp bacon was not that crisp but it was decent tasting. Our sourdough bread was fine , we each got one piece( portion control or chintzy). Like many places in this area, seating is limited, so on the weekend you may have a short wait. Great service and delicious, satisfying meals await if you are patient. I enjoyed the breakfast platter and hiked all day before I was hungry again. We were sat by the window and got to watch town go by which was a nice way to pass the time. I wish we had taken photos. We stopped in to have breakfast with some dear friends that live in the area. I don't know what all I can say. The biscuits and gravy were amazing. They didn't look at me like I'm crazy when I asked for my eggs over easy right on top of my biscuits and gravy. My wife had the huevos rancheros. She loved it. One of my friends has some pretty challenging food allergies. They were amazing there as well. The dining area was decorated in antiques an local history. Checkout 10:am, so as we departed Canaan Valley we had breakfast with the Bright Morning Inn. I've been there several times and it's always great. It's a functioning Inn, but I've only ever visited the dining area: Generous portions and fabulous flavors. Friend #1 had blueberry pancakes. You could smell the blueberries long before they reached the table. Friend #2 had biscuits and sausage gravy and he loved them. Hubby had the house special breakfast and was pleased. I had the garden omelette. Tasty! The service, as always, relaxed and very competent. As with all establishments in the Davis area, art is a major part of their decor. Under the new ownership things are GREATLY IMPROVED! From the friendly staff, to the open floor plan, to the smaller, more focused menu of quality items. It's like a cloud was lifted and the sky is the limit for restaurant that was declining. They even use current technology now for payment. Gone are the cash-only inconvenient days. We typically visit Bright Morning Inn daily for breakfast during our annual fall visits, but we were in Davis for the spring arts festival, stopped in, and discovered a lot had changed for the better since last year!!!! Our favorite fall tradition is ordering and devouring the yummy pumpkin pancakes; I hope they are still a menu option when we return in October. The renovated interior is awesome and they have a modern point of sales system taking credit cards, bucking the typical local mindset that taking cash only is acceptable. The restaurant: I am not a huge fan of breakfast sandwiches in the morning but I ordered the "johns hangover sandwich with the English muffin" and oh my god it was amazing! All the ingredients were fresh and tasty. It was the perfect size sandwich and I was left completely satisfied. My partner, who is a huge breakfast sandwich guy, loved the "the BEC on the country biscuit". The food was quick and the employees were nice. Really like this B&B. The rooms are good size. There is plenty of parking in the back. Location is perfect for anything that you may be doing in the Davis/Thomas area. Great wifi. Stopped by for breakfast during Memorial Day weekend. It was completely full and we got a table at the back of the restaurant- and I knew service would be slow- out of sight out of mind kind of! But the ladies were very very apologetic, great to talk to and really nice people. We shared the breakfast burrito. We had requested sausage in it but as far as we could tell there wasn't any. Stopped in here for breakfast after spending the night camping in Davis. Upon going in, we were seated at a small table by the owner. She gave us menus and left. Around 10 minutes later she returned and got our drink order. After dropping those off, we did not see her again. Finally, a different waitress came over to ask if we had ordered and took our order. Food came out fairly quickly, both of us got the classic breakfast; eggs, toast, bacon, home fries. All was very good, but specify which type of bread you want for your toast. Refills were hard to get, the owner took a pot of coffee around to each table to refill cups, but did not stop by ours. A different waitress came back with our check. Not sure which one was receiving our tip. All in all, other than very poor service, food was yummy. read more

Just stopped here this morning (I've been here many times to eat - I've never stayed at the B&B) after a fantastic Thanksgiving weekend in Canaan Valley, and had a wonderful breakfast with my parents. As usual, my night owl of a boyfriend was too busy sleeping to come with us, so he missed out. We showed up pretty late for breakfast, but there was still plenty of deliciousness available. I really don't understand any of the reviews here that aren't completely stellar. The owner is a very personable lady and she's running a great establishment. If you have a problem with waiting 5-10 minutes for food, there is something horribly wrong with you... but then again, you're probably the same kind of person who drives a European luxury vehicle into Tucker County in the snow and expects it not to get dirty. Get over yourselves, idiots. In any case, I had the biscuit with gravy and it was excellent. Dad had the breakfast burrito and it SMELLED excellent (I didn't get to try any) and my mom had the breakfast platter (from which I stealthily purloined a delicious slice of thick cut bacon). Prices here are great and so is the service. If you're snooty and obsessed with yourself, go somewhere else. More for me! read more

Recently spent the weekend in the guest house and was very impressed with the quality and friendly service. The guest house offered excellent value, and it is located in a wonderful location with numerous stores, attractions, and restaurants located either within walking distance or a short drive. Be sure to have breakfast at the Bright Morning Inn restaurant. I personally ordered the breakfast burrito which was delicious and a generous portion. So disappointing, didn't even get to try the food. We checked in with the host, told it would be a half hour wait. No big deal. Sat down at the bar beside the host station. All those waiting for tables around us were offered coffee, hot cocoa, etc. Except us. I asked one person behind the bar for a cup of coffee. Ten minutes go by. Tried to flag the other person who had provided coffee for others. Ignored. The host went behind the bar to serve others at the bar. Asked him. He very rudely told me it would be a while. Done. Not sure why we were the only waiting party not worth a cup of coffee. And it's my birthday. Thanks for getting it off to such an awesome start. We walked out and won't be back. read more

Today they had pumpkin pancakes and a spicy chorizo burrito for specials. I had the ABC: apple, bacon, cheddar omelet with home fries and toast. Big fluffy omelet with lots of bacon. Hubby had the Bright Morning Platter. Eggs how you like, pancakes, and bacon or sausage. He is a big breakfast eater and couldn't quite finish the stack of pancakes. My husband and I just returned from a long weekend trip to Blackwater Falls. I read good reviews about this place, particularly the breakfast, so we thought we would check it out. Overall, the experience was average. The staff was not rude, or particularly friendly. My husband got the Banana Dream French Toast and I got Peach Pancakes. I'm sitting in this new cafe (literally opened 3 days ago - it's a new extension onto the existing hotel) and it's great. It's not crowded (yet!) like the other cafes in Davis, plenty of comfortable places to sit and be alone or be social as you please, they owners/baristas are friendly and enjoy talking with patrons, and the coffee, at least for today (Ethiopian yirgacheffe), is really delicious. I'll enjoy relaxing parking myself here for a couple hours. read more

After enjoyable ski trip, family stopped in to Bright Morning for Breakfast on the way home. Totally impressed with the menu and hostess, who extolled so well on some of the choices that we decided to forgo the 'quick breakfast' and go full bore on trying the main items. We were absolutely blown away by ALL of the items (Blueberry Pancakes were the Best I EVER had), and every one, including our granddaughter, ate every bite. My wife cooks an outstanding breakfast, but even she had to admit theirs was a step above. There are weekends I think about taking the 2 hour drive to have Breakfast at Bright Morning LOL - that's how good it is and makes me wonder about their lunch. Now that we know they're an 'Inn', and breakfast is included have debated staying there the next time in area. Have I said enough? If in the area, be certain to stop in to enjoy their hospitality and food. They're on our 'must stop list' now! A lovely B&B with an excellent breakfast. The decor is a bit outdated but the room was plenty comfortable. We stayed here in September 2013 and there was no way to reserve a room online, so I made the reservation by phone. There was a nice combination of younger couples and families staying here. Davis is not exactly spread out but it was nice being close to the restaurants and grocery store. The innkeeper and breakfast staff were very friendly, and they had the Gillian Welch Pandora station playing which was enjoyable. It was nice having a proper restaurant for breakfast rather than enduring the awkward conversation with strangers around a table. I remember the price was pretty affordable. There was a nice common room with games, books, and a television. read more

We were only able to snag breakfast, but we will most certainly stay here next time we are in Davis. We took our trip at the last minute so there weren't any vacancies. They are pet friendly and they are located right on the main drag in Davis, probably 5/10 minutes from Timberline. The Inn Keeper was very nice, the wait staff was accommodating, and the food was great. The food here is good, but there is a neglect of small details which degrades the experience. For instance, waters are not automatically provided. There is a shortage of napkins on the tables, you only get the one paper napkin the utensils are wrapped in. Tapatio sauce is provided, but the bottles do not have a squirtcap, so I accidentally poured way more sauce than I wanted on my eggs. Little things like that. We would eat here again but this could be taken a notch up by attending to those extra details. read more

This place is a perfect get-away - the location is perfect - very close to hiking, skiing, horseback riding, biking, fishing, etc. Quiet and comfortable with everything one needs to relax and rejuvenate. We stayed in one of the inn rooms for 5 nights in August. It is such a wonderfully quiet little inn with an outstanding innkeeper and fabulous breakfasts! The innkeeper, Susan Moore, has created a very warm and friendly inn. She knows a lot about the area, and can recommend great biking and hiking trails, as well as restaurants and other local attractions. Breakfast, which came with the room, was absolutely delicious! We were treated to fresh peach pancakes, scrambled eggs with quinoa and veggies, and loads of other creative and standard choices. My main issue was that the hostess/owner (?) felt the need to ridicule my tween son for wanting a dish for syrup for dipping French toast She compared him to a 4 year old. My husband & I were sadly disappointed. We looked at the reviews on yelp & thought it was going to be amazing. It first started out with waiting about 10 minutes just to be recognized and get a drink order. & by then we already knew what we wanted to eat (which the one lady was very rude) I ordered the Classic Breakfast, which comes with 2 eggs, toast, potatoes, & bacon, and my husband ordered the Lumberjack Omelet, which come with pepper jack cheese, sausage, onion, & mushrooms. To start with I ordered my eggs well done & they came out barely done. The oil on the eggs just dripped off my plate. Being from the south I know a thing or two about grease & oil. It was just covered. The eggs didn't have any seasoning on them. They barely had any flavor at all. So I moved to my potatoes and they were cold. Not only cold, but under cooked and hard. They also had no seasoning on them. So I moved to my bacon which was under cooked also. My whole meal was filled with oil and no flavor.
