Best auto shop ever? 100% true if waiting room comfort is one of the criteria. I have never seen a…read moremore AWESOME waiting area in my life, filled to the brim with nostalgia and curiosities for anyone, but particularly for those who grew up in the 80s and 90s. There are around 8-10 arcade cabinets and pinball machines lining the walls, all free to play, as well as retro consoles like an NES and Sega Dreamcast built into back hatch of a classic car. If you are just looking to relax, or get work done, there are couches, easy chairs, as well as a table with comfortable stools and chairs for working. Maybe best of all.. Free snacks. There was a basket of various chip and cookies bags, and a mini fridge of drinks.
While all of that is NOT the main focus of why you are here, I appreciate the acknowledgement that, this part of life is not everyone's favorite thing. So making the customer as comfortable as possible while they wait, and not nickle and diming for things like playing a game or having a snack is a testament to that customer-centric focus.
Anyway. Car stuff. You can tell these guys love working on cars, and that's the reason for them being here mainly while being able to make a living. The reason for my visit, is I had just recently bought a Volvo s60 PHEV and wanted an independent inspection before committing to keep it. Volvos, especially those with a hybrid system, require a trained eye so you can't trust just any shop to evaluate. Twin City Euro has at least 1 certified Volvo tech on staff, and were able to schedule me within my purchase window, so I came to them.
They did a full evaluation of my car, and helped me notice a few relatively minor cosmetic things I had not seen at first (but didn't ultimately affect my purchase), including the most minute of windshield chips... which caught now can prevent a crack later (and be serviced by the place I purchased it free). Of course, they also took it for a drive and put it through it's paces mechanically, and checked for ongoing proper maintenance, ultimately giving it a clean bill of health.
It put me at ease, and also made me know, I have found my shop of choice for when I need maintenance or repairs on this vehicle. I'll be back, and would recommend other European car owners look into them for their maintenance and repair needs.
