A fun and unique store in the Loudoun county area! I like the way the store organized in alphabetical order and all the cool fund selection of games that they have as well as the showcase for the new games that have come out! TL;DR? Excellent store with great employees. I moved to NOVA from New Orleans almost two years ago and happened on this store while attending a car show in the parking lot of the plaza. Their selection is excellent. Prices are fair. I was especially impressed with their staff and how helpful they were. Huzzah enjoys a stellar reputation in the area and I easily saw why they're so beloved by gamers. I've had to rely on online vendors for paints and brushes in the past. I'm quite happy to spend that cash at this store. Also: loved trading some old Magic cards for a box of Pokémechs. Looking forward to games at the store! read more

Just a mild complaint about their return policy. I purchased a game that did not have all of the components (cards) listed in the instructions - apparently a manufacturer issue as they can only be obtained via expansion. The store policy is "resell-able condition". I brought the game back and the only thing not as it was when purchased was the cellophane around the cards themselves. This, apparently, makes non-returnable - even for a store credit. Apparently, without any such notice, removing the outer plastic wrapping makes any game non-returnable. This is a very poor policy. I will no longer shop at this store and will simply make my purchases online. Bottom line, crappy return policy and poor customer service. read more

They are a great store. I haven't seen a store that clean in a long time. The staff was very knowledgeable and helpful. The gaming area was incredibly large with a huge amount of store owned terrain for use. TTRPGs, wargames, and board games are all found in abundance. Highly recommend! read more

You won't find a better hobby shop for miles and I've checked out every one in the area. This place is well stocked with all of the miniatures games and everything you need to paint and assemble them. If you can't find something, they'll be glad to order it for you and are very helpful. They've been here now for 2 years but have been in business for 4 years. As the pandemic came to a break, I was craving to play the many games with dust on my shelf. After visiting 9 other game stores in the DC and NOVA area, Huzzah was clearly the holy grail. Now a year later, I come every week to play games and thoroughly admire the friendly community, awesome staff, and the multitude of gaming products that Huzzah has to offer. The staff are always helpful, and incredibly knowledgeable. I'm not sure how they know so much about so many CCGs, board games, and tabletop games. But they really are amazing and friendly. I missed a pre-release event for Magic, and when I called they were great at explaining when the remaining packs would go on sale, and how many they had available. When I went in they explained which types of packs I'd want/need. The store seems cluttered when you walk in, but they sure seem to have at least one of everything you'd want. My son and his friends love to sit in the playin room and just play Magic and meet others. read more

For my 200th review I had to think hard about where I was going to write about. Definitely had to be a 5 star venue; the cream of the crop. No one wants to write their 200th review about some mediocre or godawful place. Huzzah Hobbies is where it's at! They have a great staff; friendly and helpful. They are really customer oriented with their calendar of events and customer satisfaction. You could go up there pretty much any night of the week and find something to do depending on your hobbies. They have all sorts of hobby stuff for sale; miniatures, cards, equipment/accessories, tabletop games (a good selection for sale as well as store copies you can try before you buy). They have a half dozen or so large tables set up for tabletop miniature games and roleplaying games like D&D, etc; and another dozen or so for board games and card games. They also have a dedicated painting table to paint your miniatures. They host Magic the Gathering drafts every Friday and special events when available. They also have an active Board game group that meets up a couple nights a week to play various board games. Everyone I have come across at the store (both staff and customers) have been very friendly. One particularly crowded night, I left my cell phone at the store on one of the gaming tables with cash and credit cards in it. I got home after the store had closed and was like SH#%!, that phone is gone. Not that I don't have faith in humanity, but with a crowd of 50 people, I thought someone may have nabbed it. Not the case! I went back there the next day and someone had turned my phone in and it was behind the counter with money and cards intact! I think in this day and age, that says a lot about the clientele. A good group of people all around. Not to trash talk other venues, but I have checked out several other hobby shops in the area, and in my opinion, they didn't stack up to Huzzah for one reason or another. I recently discovered this place, because I mentioned that I had moved to the area and hadn't been able to find a tabletop gaming store yet. Turns out, this place is right down the road! I went on a Saturday; I took my two little kids with me to check it out. They are four and five, but polite and well-behaved. We ended up staying about 15 minutes or so, just quickly looking at the games and space. This place impressed me so much! It's modern, clean, with tons of great tables for playing! The front of the store has a huge selection of games, everything from Warhammer to Munchkin, D&D accessories, MTG....really great. Not all gaming shops feel.....shall I say, professional? But this one definitely does! There were friendly people working, who were even nice and sweet to my little ones. We ended up buying a game and a deck box to take with us. I will definitely be back. They let me know that there is a "Huzzah JR" down the road, so we went to that too. How accomodating! All around great experience, and I'm looking forward to getting to spend some time actually gaming here in the future. read more

This place is large and well-lighted. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. They have a small section of indie RPGs plus the usual Pathfinder and D&D, lots of different board games, miniatures, dice. There is an enormous section in the back with gaming tables, usually full. There is also a "looking for gamers" bulletin board where you can post. Highly recommended for people into board games, miniatures, Magik the Gathering, and tabletop RPGs. After gaming here for several years and making numerous purchases, we had a bad experience that has us searching for a new space. We play on weekday evenings, so most of us stop and grab dinner to eat while we play. A member of our group brought along a beer to consume with his dinner. A member of the staff noticed and told him that he couldn't consume alcohol on the premises unless it had been purchased there (they recently obtained a liquor license). My friend immediately took the beer (there was just one) out of the store and apologized for breaking the rules. About 10 minutes later, a staff member told him he had to leave the store and could not return without clearing it with the owner. He spoke to the owner a day later, and while he is allowed back in the store, there was no apology for the poor treatment. We all understand that he broke a rule; however, this is not the first time anyone has had a beer in the store. He was simply drinking it with his meal and had only one with him. We have no problem with them asking him to take it out of the store, but to tell him he was banned until speaking with the owner was a severe overreaction. There were a lot of things we liked about Huzzah. But their harsh treatment of a regular customer has left a bad taste.YMMV, but we will not be returning. read more

This seems like a pretty good place. I'd like to attend one of their events here to see how they're run before I upgrade my review to five stars, but so far I've gotten very favorable impressions of this place. The store is big, with lots of tables for gaming. They also have some tables designed specifically for miniature play. And they have the largest selection of in-house terrain you can use that I've ever seen at a game store. The store is very clean, well lit, and very well organized. They also have a big stock of most games. I was able to find some Star Trek Attack Wing ships here that I haven't been able to find anywhere else. And in terms of Warhammer 40K models, they probably have just as large a selection as most Games Workshop stores. The staff seemed friendly and was willing to help me on both times I've visited. The one thing they might want to work on is keeping track of their events. Because some of the events - like 40K - are run by a single person, I was told that I would need to call back on the day 'the 40K guy' was in to ask any questions about scheduling and stuff. I think the rest of the staff needs at least a basic idea of when they're running events and what those events are. Having said that, the store does have lots of events in their schedule, including Magic days and a 40K league, which I'd really like to play in sometime. The only downside, as others have pointed out, is that if you live anywhere near D.C., this store is a bit of a trek - about 30 to 40 minutes depending on where you're coming from. So while I unfortunately don't think I'll become a regular due to the distance, I'll definitely be back. read more

Best shop in DC Metro area for boardgames, wargames, and roleplaying games, hands down! Its great for me because they have both fantasy/scifi miniatures but also historicals which are hard to finf. The staff is really knowledgeable and if they dont have what Im looking for they will order it for me and have it in a week or less without having to pay for shipping. They have a huge space for playing roleplaying and card games and a seperate large area for playing tabletop miniatures. Best of all the just opened a snack bar with beer on tap! read more

A well stocked roomy gaming store with extremely helpful and friendly staff. As soon as I walked in, my apprehensions about not having a quality gaming store near the new home quickly disappeared. I am an avid board gamer who is always on the lookout for new games. Huzzah Hobbies has a ton which I do not that will allow me to expand my collection. They also have a huge selection of miniatures games and a ton of tables in the back to play them on. I think the best aspect of the store though is the community they seem to be building. There is a calendar in the back listing the upcoming events and the regular days which certain games are played; although it was clear additional gaming is always welcome. There is also a cork board to help gamers meet up with others who share the same interests. Overall I can't wait to get done with the move and start regular gaming here. read more

From the moment I walked in, I had a geekgasm. As a Dungeonmaster that crafts and utilizes miniatures and terrain, this place was heaven. They had items I have only been able to find online, and items I've never seen before! Chris (assumed to be owner) was great! While he was hard at work putting out product and organizing, he was also offering his help to customers and answering our questions. If he doesn't have it, ask him! He may be able to get it in, or is just out of stock, OR you just overlooked it in the plethora of treasures his store offers. I will definitely be driving the 14 miles to see them again soon. The place is clean, packed with loot, and reasonably priced. There is also a huge game room for trading card game events, and ANOTHER game room with LOADS of tables and terrain for wargaming and encounters. I've been to my share of gaming stores across the country, and this one is definitely top notch. Constructive criticism - the store clerks seemed much less knowledgeable/resourceful than Chris. They some games I'd only seen online, so it was great to be able to come in, look at everything, and get the instant gratification from buying at a brick and mortar store. If you cannot find what you are looking for, items can be special ordered for you. If you want to try something new, they have a stock of "in-house" games that are free to play there at the store! No charge to play games, whether you purchased something or not. Feels like what a hobby store should be. For the gamers! This is hands down the best hobby/gaming store I've ever been to in the 30 years I've been going to them, all over the world (well, Southern California, Hawaii, Vegas, Japan, parts of Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Guam, and now northern Virginia). The store has grown a lot over the almost five years I've been coming here and keeps getting better and better. It has a large stock of board games, miniatures, paints, and other accessories. It has a good number of gaming tables for wargames, card games, and even a painting area. There's also a good number of board games that are free to use/play. The store routinely has new stock and unlike some other stores, doesn't keep old stuff that doesn't sell on the shelves to take up space and make the store look cluttered. There are tournaments for various games that happen on a regular basis as well as gaming nights for specific games/gaming systems. The stand out for the shop though is the great customer service. They're really happy to help you with whatever you need and unlike other gaming stores in the area, they don't ignore you when you come in or treat you as though you're bothering them. Oh, I almost forgot to add that if you have a family member or friend who games or paints, they can also recommend gifts or items for you to give them. My wife has found this handy on more than once. read more
