The cost for the diagnosis was $224.19. The estimate to return & change out the malfunctioning dampener was $836.05. This would have been a total charge of $1,060.24 to replace a faulty $200.00 dampener. Our regular HVAC tech recovered, stopped & replaced the dampener for a total of $385.00. This included re-diagnosing the problem, parts & labor. Problem solved. I would never use Carl Volkman & sons HVAC LLC again. Their prices are exorbitant & unfair.

Part of the issue was that when my townhouse was built they ended up putting the water connection into a much smaller box than what's commonly used, along with no shut off levers or knobs. After getting the initial issue resolved, I made the decision to have the box replaced with levers for both easy access and identification.
