He has lists for you to fill in such as music that needs to be played for the ceremony, first dance, grand entrance, and any song you'd like him to play for the cocktail hour/reception. We went with the gold package since he was under the preferred vendor list. The gold package included intelligent lighting, up-lights, and the white DJ booth. We did notice that we had must-play songs for the dance floor and we had a couple of wedding guests request songs but they weren't played. I would think it's because he brings years of club and wedding DJ experience and he knows what will be well-received by the guests, what flows well, and what may kill the vibe. We were not upset about that! I was dancing on the dance floor for about 1 hour and a half non-stop! I cannot tell you how much joy it brought me and my husband to see the dance floor PACKED with all our friends and family the entire night-- there are no words. Here are some things that stood out about Jose: 1) He brings a ton of industry knowledge: Jose knows his stuff. When we met up for our venue walk-thru, he not only gave me recommendations on where he thought he should set up his DJ booth, but also where we should set up different elements, like the bar, photo booth, etc. so the space wouldn't feel too big and that guests would have a good time. This was really helpful as our venue was a large open space, so his guidance was very much appreciated. 2) He's well-prepared: Jose sent us guide sheets to work on that highlighted all the important songs we'd need to pick for our wedding ceremony and reception (i.e. the "walk down the aisle" song, the "cake cutting" song- I never knew there were so many important songs at weddings! ), as well as songs that highlighted the kind of vibe we wanted at the ceremony and reception. On top of that, we met with him to discuss timing, sequence, order of songs, and emcee cues. He gave us a lot of great tips about wedding toasts, timing, and more. He made us feel at ease about the whole ceremony and reception. 3) He knows how to read a room: We gave Jose a ton of songs that we wanted played, but also trusted his judgment and invited him to play other songs he thought our guests would enjoy. Roughly half of our guests spoke Spanish and half did not, and he did a good job balancing the songs in Spanish and English. He also did a great job at being the emcee, giving directions and guidance to our guests, without being overwhelming or constantly talking and interrupting the mood. 4) He's got good intuition: We played a funny/emotional video in remembrance of my Dad as a tribute. After the video played, my Aunt asked for the mic, and Jose gladly handed it over. Let me just start off by saying that Jose saved my wedding from a disaster. He helped my coordinator move my four tier wedding cake that was on the wrong linen table before my reception started and helped her set up when the venue royally screwed up and we only had 2 hours before the reception to set up. We were working with a military venue that has strict restrictions to only go in 2 hours before show time. Unfortunately they had totally messed up there portion of the set up. Jose and his team kindly went out of their way to help me carefully lift the large 4-tiered wedding cake that the venue had mis places and refused to move themselves. After they had set up themselves they also helped me finish setting up the tables since those were also in bad disarray from the venue. More importantly, their care for placement of speakers, lighting and sound is perfect and clearly done with a blend of knowledge and passion . The lighting looked great. Even better, the music was popping! Let me tell you, the songs flowed well and he had a great read on the party and how to keep the tone up or soft for a break. My groom and I were so satisfied with working with Jose for our wedding at Milagro Farms. I came across Jose through an Instagram post when he was in at my venue. My wife and I just got married in Bali, Indonesia and we were having trouble finding a local DJ that could play the music we like for our wedding.
