Hwang Taekwondo Center has been an incredible experience for both of my kids! Through their training, they have gained confidence, learned to take a stand, improved their focus, and developed perseverance--all while having fun. Master Hwang is truly amazing--so organized, timely, and deeply caring for each student. His support and encouragement inspire kids to succeed, both in Taekwondo and in life. I'm so grateful for this program and highly recommend it to any parent looking for a place that fosters discipline, growth, confidence and enjoyment! Great location large space and easy parking!

Mid 50s Guy - I am beyond fortunate to have found Master Hwang and Hwang's Taekwondo. I was thinking of joining a martial arts studio and 10 minutes later I was walking by Hwang's Taekwondo Center on my way to a restaurant that had closed down. I took it as a sign. I went back spoke with Master Hwang for 20 minutes and signed up for classes. My first class was on a Monday was brutal but amazing. Master Hwang manages to teach skills and technique in a manner that allows for skill development and intense cardio workout ( through repetition). I found that in once class I am working on flexibility, strength, balance, breathing and developing slow and fast twitch muscles. While many could take the same class and follow along without such an intense experience, I try to be intentional and deliberate and give it my all ( my point is it doesn't have to be as tough as I am describing but for sure it will be challenging even to a physically fit person ( I am not there yet) The classes start with some stretching, some wisdom from Master Hwang then some movements ( poomsae) and striking skills punching and kicking, we often work in pairs to help build a sense of connection and team work and to learn offensive movement and defensive movement. By my 4th class I was not getting as winded but my class was just as intense and gratifying (its a lot more fun when you don't feel so winded but we have to start somewhere) I am still a white belt and will test for a yellow belt soon. I have a lot to learn and my main challenge is my flexibility. I cant use the flexibility I had 35 years ago today, I have to redevelop it and there is plenty of opportunity to do so. I am a tiny bit over weight and because of my flexibility issue I can look and feel awkward when kicking especially with my left leg and generally I am not as graceful as the younger students in the class but this is about my life and my health and I know as I continue I will become stronger and more flexible with better balance. I wore an apple watch to a couple of my classes and In the 1 hour class my heart rate was at extreme exercise level and I had burned 600 calories and then another 300 to 400 calories in the next hour just cooling down. My sciatica went away after 4 classes. I love this class and Master Hwang is a talented and motivational teacher with the discipline one would expect of an Olympic athlete. He is a very kind and while he is understanding he also knows the world of excuses and knows they stand in our way. I am in my 50s now , I was a long distance runner and a gymnast and tennis player growing up and I had always wanted to learn a martial art. Well during COVID I went to the office everyday but I sat for three years I sat. Along with ageing and sitting, I lost my flexibility and suffered fatigue. I am still physically strong but that doesn't help if I cant move my body without getting a cramp or touch my toes. I have thought of joining a gym but its not my think and I always found playing sports was the way to go it stimulates the mind as well. Even though I have the ability to be new in an environment with minimal discomfort, I still had to be new. I had to walk in be the old guy in the class and in this case the old guy who was least in shape. I'm sure some of my fellow class mates thought I might stroke on my first session. ( I'm joking). Anything worth while take effort and requires some degree of courage. I don't want to get older without being able to move freely and have a sense of mastery over my body. I am not trying to be an Olympian just a healthier version of this great me I love so much. If you are like me I really recommend this class. You can message me for support or motivation. It is the best decision I have made in a long time, and I make a bunch of good decisions :) don't be afraid to try something new. And Master Hwang is a perfect balance of understanding and accountability to help us move along this journey to better health and mastery of Taekwondo!!

All the 5 star reviews are completely true and valid. If you are looking for the best masters in Beverly Hills, look no further. My son has been in this dojang since the age of 4 and received his black belt recently. Master hwang and master kim are by far the best in the field of tkd, and they are amazing at what they do. Many other tkd masters know them by name, and even through obstacles like transitioning to zoom during lockdown from the pandemic, they did it effortlessly and my son was still learning his forms (poomseh) as if it were in person. The masters here are devoted to their students, and never lets anyone get behind. They pull each student through all trials, and my son is forever grateful to have been taught by them. As a parent, I am forever thankful for the opportunity we had being able to work hard under these masters' instructions. My son is confident and so very proud to have gone this far in his tkd journey. Because of these masters' teachings, my son is determined to continue his black belt journey. Thank you master hwang and master kim! You both are amazing masters and people. We are forever grateful.

This taekwondo school is by far the best taekwondo school in Los Angeles. I have searched yelp to find a location that was near my work and it is way more efficient than going straight home stuck in traffic. I was very pleased with the family like atmosphere and class is very energetic and fun! The instructors are very attentive and take care of me well. Definitely recommend this place to whoever wants to learn taekwondo.

Martin is, by far, the best Systema instructor outside of Systema HQ in Toronto. However, I walked away from the academy. Some of the students(including one who ran for governor during the recall election for ca. governor, and "informed" me that Gavin Newsom was a pedophile).bought into RW talking points and Covid misinformation, and I frankly felt uncomfortable, especially as a Black Man. I would've left it there and said nothing. However, after tweeting about my experience(without naming Martin or the academy), I was approached by one of their senior students/instructors while I was out working. How he found me, I don't know. but it wasn't happenstance. Although there was no direct threat made, it was certainly implied. It's especially galling because I was a long-time student here. But, I guess those on the "right" feel they can intimidate anyone now, for any reason. In any case, I'm training a different martial art now, no worries. But I'll never touch Systema again.

The majority of the classes here are mostly for men so it was perfect timing for me. I persuaded my coworker to take the class with me. Our class size was small but very effective during the one hour instruction. During our class, Dimitri (another instructor) assisted by practicing with us so that we had a better feeling of how it is to be attacked by a man (since most little asian women dont do that type of stuff....).
