The management is so great to work with. I needed another turkey on short notice. I called the department. The person answering the phone who's name I cannot remember was so very helpful. I went to the store to pick it up and Jonathan helped us with my order. Also again on short notice I needed another turkey. Johnathan helped me look through the meat case and get what I needed. If I need anything at school, I go to HyVee. Birthday cake? The bakery staff is the nicest and very professional. Organic food, you ask? Well there's a whole section just for you uppity- types. 20,000 types of hot pockets? That's just me? OK. Pharmacy? Yup. Makeup? check. Hallmark section? You got it, tootsie. There's one about every three miles. This one is closest to campus. They have GREAT dinner specials for you an that special someone.... especially if that someone doesn't mind getting a $5 Chinese food buffet and eating it cafeteria-style in a grocery store. Just had this happen: There are 4 or 5 lanes open, all are backed up... I see a manager standing there with a walkie talkie, I expect him to call for help. Another employee, looks like he just got off of work and did some shopping, walks up and looks at the long lines. The manager says, "come with me," and takes the employee to a closed line to ring him up. He doesn't take any other shoppers, never called for back up. Was in line for maybe 15 minutes. Growing up in Chicago, we never had Hy-Vee. But now that I'm out here in the Quad Cities, I can't imagine life without it. This is one of the newer Hy-Vees in the area. It's recently been remodeled and the inside looks gorgeous. It's open and laid out well, so finding whatever you're looking for is pretty simple. In terms of selection, this place has whatever you'd need. If you want fresh bread, their bakery makes it. But even if you just want something as simple as Kraft macaroni and cheese, you'll find almost every variety there is. Speaking of variety, this Hy-Vee has an attached wine and spirits store. The selection there rivals any grocery store I've been to. They can be counted on to have a wide selection of beers that goes well beyond the typical crappy American lagers like Bud and Miller. Looking for a good stout or porter? Odds are, this place will have it. And whatever you're looking for, you won't pay an arm and a leg. Make no mistake, groceries are going to be expensive. But since you have to shop somewhere, you might as well get what passes for a good price, right? That's what you'll get here. read more

I waited at the customer service counter while 3 employees stood and talked to each other . They looked at me several times over a period of 3 minutes. Then they walked over to someone that had walked up to the counter and all four of them talked to her. I walked out. Terrible service. read more

This store is disappointing because it carries few varieties of items. Or they are sold out of items. For example, I went in for shredded lettuce in a bag. They had none whatsoever, I don't think they carry it? The fruits and veggies are normally old. Most of the time the oranges and citrus items are past their prime when we get them home to eat. Same with apples, not fresh. They do not carry sorbet now. I still want to eat sorbet. When they do carry it, they only have two varieties, and only one brand. I like to have choices when I shop. So I have to trapse around town to get all the items I want from different stores. Bakery items are very poor in flavor and variety as well. Avoid the bakery. read more
