Cute Victorian hotel with modern amenities. The beds were really comfortable and the towels felt and smelled nice. I know that sounds weird but they didn't have that institutional smell. Staff was friendly. We ordered room service and the selection for dinner was great and the person that delivered was a sweetheart. This is a very nice hotel. The food is delicious whether you eat in restaurant or bar. The restaurant staff are the best. They work very hard and are very personable. The boardwalk has alot to offer also. I would have given them 5 stars if not for the charges on bill when checking out. We were charged an occupancy tax of $32.34 per night That was an additonal charge of $194 for 2rooms. So, the room rate per night ($294) doesn't include staying in it? Its ridiculous!! read more

Since we were here in early December during the off season, parking was a lot easier and free of charge as opposed to the on season paid parking, when even paid parking is hard to find. I parked my vehicle on Baltimore Ave. because they were reconstructing the public bathrooms on the boardwalk. There was a narrow pathway through the side of the construction to the boardwalk. This was our first time to visit the Boardwalk Plaza hotel, which is a 21-year-old pink Victorian-style oceanfront resort located on the boardwalk in Rehoboth Beach, DE. Its design is blended with modern hotel amenities. The main entrance to the hotel is located on Olive Ave. You enter under the antique wrought-iron canopy to enter the lobby. The lobby was nicely decorated for Christmas, but very small with a natural gas fireplace. They offer a heated indoor/outdoor pool. We did not stay at the resort, but we were here with our friends to enjoy our first Sunday brunch/lunch at Victoria's restaurant to the left rear of the lobby fireplace. One of my preferred accommodations when staying in RB. The service is great. I loved getting Oceanview without paying an arm and leg. It could use some renovations and fresh paint, They offer beachchair and stuff for the beach. it's cool, but kinda uncomfortable for me. I love the parrot lol. You're right on the boardwalk, although I read the reviews for the restaurant , I passed. So many good options in the area. read more

From the time we walked in till the moment we left we had exceptional service. The staff is friendly, the rooms are lovely and it's in the heart of everything l. They provided us with beach towels and chairs... steps to ocean. We had several meals each one was delicious and reasonably priced. They even offered outdoor dining. Jeremy won the Cozy Winter Weekend package so this was exciting and something new. Our first impression was a little shocking. When you walk into the lobby, you are greeted by an eclectic/Victorian decor that is not everyone's cup of tea. The birds in the lobby are a pleasant addition as well. You can hold and interact with them. They quickly became THE reason to stop in the lobby. Everyone on staff was super pleasant and there were alot of staff. Everyone from front desk to wait staff to maintenance to housekeeping. They were all amazing and helpful. The Pub - I must admit this quickly became our favorite place. It included a four person bar seating, several small tables and super comfy leather pub chairs. It is the type of place where you get comfy and light up a cigar (no smoking permitted, of course). There was even a dart board. You can also order anything from the Victorias menu in the pub. The outdoor seating was nice with open air and deck heaters. It was a little chilly even with the heaters but the bartender quickly brought us blankets when we decided to sit awhile. The Hot Tub - during the day, it's a small indoor pool for all ages but after 8:00pm it was adult only and the jet's came on. Really fun and relaxing after a chilly winter day exploring Rehoboth. Cozy Package Dessert - With the package that Jeremy won, we got Hot chocolate and dessert for two. It was delivered to the room via room service and it was such a nice extra. Dessert and Hot chocolate was delicious!!! Overall, we made some friends (The staff and the birds) and we hated to leave. 10 out of 10, we definitely recommend. We will definitely be back. I loved this place and would highly recommend. I wish I could give it 4 3/4 stars because the only reason I didn't give it 5 was because the shower temperature was horrible. No matter what temp I placed it, it would unexpectedly oscillate from scalding hot to ice cold... to be fair, I didn't say anything so they had no opportunity to correct it but I would be worried if I had my little kids with me. But really, that was the only issue. Staff was incredibly friendly, room comfortable, view beautiful, and restaurant delicious. I would love to return and, if I bring my kids, would just have them stick with baths:) Did I mention the beautiful (and wonderfully heated) pool?! Go and enjoy. read more

This is our default Rehoboth destination for short stays (too expensive for long weeks). We've stayed in regular rooms, suite and full apartment. Wonderful views, nice amenities. The lobby is very old fashioned - a welcome respite from sleek, sterile modern hotels. Breakfast and lunch at Victorias generally very good. My only complaint: during our most recent stay, the hot water was - at best - only lukewarm. But nothing's perfect, and we'll keep coming back. read more

April, the manager was an absolute delight and so helpful. The parrots are so cute and very friendly when taken out of their cages in the lobby. April makes sure that if they are tired or they prefer men or women, she informs people. They don't just fly around. Their wings are clipped. I highly suggest staying here. First time here and will absolutely be back. The exterior is beautiful and the interior decor is fun, kitschy, and decidedly victorian. The rooms are a little small however very comfortable and only add to the overall theme. The staff is friendly, gracious, and genuine. The attached restaurant is really fantastic and incredibly convenient (especially for breakfast). Literal steps from the beach but you may find yourself in the indoor/outdoor superheated soaking pool more than the Atlantic, it really is that great. Can't beat the location either. We loved this place! After vacationing in Rehoboth for many years, we outgrew the hotel we typically stayed at. We found a great deal at Boardwalk Plaza and it will be our new go-to! It's right on the boardwalk - you can see the beach from your hotel window or even just sitting out at the pool. The Victorian theme is definitely an acquired taste but it didn't impact our stay whatsoever. Some of it was actually kind of cool - like the chatty parakeets or the big chairs in the lobby and bar area. The rooms were clean and spacious. We got a suite and somewhat of an ocean view with a little balcony for some adult space. Beds were very comfortable and the sitting area was great for the kids to play. The pool was great as well. It seemed small from the pictures but there was definitely enough space for the kids and us as well as others. It was fun to be hanging in the pool while people walked the boards. We loved the pub attached to the hotel. We went with the kids almost every night and played games they had there and darts. It was cozy and relaxing and never very crowded. The bartenders made some great signature drinks as well. We were able to order food and drinks from the pub to the pool as well which was a bonus. Another plus was that beach towels were provided. It was great not to have to lug wet or sandy towels back to our hotel room. They also had a handful of beach items that you could "borrow" outside like a wagon, toys, swimmies, etc. We adore Rehoboth and can't wait to go back and when we do, we'll likely be staying here! read more

This hotel has a great location, right on the boardwalk, moments from the beach and very close to both the fine dining of Baltimore Avenue and the guilty pleasures of boardwalk sweets and pizza. The decor is nice, it is very victorian themed. (So don't expect a modern look.) We had room service breakfast on the balcony and it was splendid. Do yourself a favor and get the creme brûlée french toast. The creamy vanilla suffuses the bread, it is sweet enough that the maple syrup is superfluous. A generous pile of bacon accompanies the dish. The major downside of the mostly nice room was the bed. The mattress is insanely soft and fluffy. For those of us who prefer a firm mattress, it was a nightmare, but obviously your milage may very. It was like sleeping on a waterbed. Presumably the hotel (and some guests) consider this a luxury, however. On the plus side, the curtains are very thick, which makes it easy to sleep in. read more

This place is weird for me to review. It's way fancier than anyplace I would choose to stay; not just because of the price, but also because I don't tend to enjoy super-fancy things. That being said, it was a really nice hotel and a good experience with a few snags that were quickly resolved. We stayed here over New Year's so that we could at least have a view of the ocean with our 3-year-old and 3-month-old for New Year's since we couldn't travel the way we normally do. We got a 1-bedroom suite with an ocean view balcony so that the toddler could be somewhere the baby wouldn't wake him up and so that we could have a nice view for the grownups. We got there and discovered they have two birds in the lobby, which is pretty cool--An African grey parrot and another colorful parrot or parrot-like bird that will talk/call to you and generally entertain kids. They lobby is done in a ritzy way with a turn-of-of the century feel including an old-style post office window and a ridiculous old cash register that "goes all the way up to $9.99." After check-in, they wouldn't just tell us where our room was, but we had to be escorted by a bellhop. Nice touch, but not my style and remember to bring cash to tip them since that's the only reasonable thing to do. The room itself was nice--if cozy with two beds in the room with the door, then a small middle area with a fridge, sink, counter, and the bathroom. Then a small living room with a desk, couch and chair and a door to the balcony overlooking the beach. The room itself was cozy and nicely appointed without being overly fancy. There were really just 3 bad things. First, I think the fridge was broken. If it worked, it was only keeping things a few degrees below room temperature. Maybe that's because they had it stuffed with sodas and alcohol for purchase, but it kept neither the beer we brought nor the medicine we brought cold. Fortunately, it was cold enough on the balcony, that we could at least get the beer cold. Second, after putting the kids down the first night of two, we realized the heat didn't work. So, when the door between the two rooms was shut, the room with the balcony started to drop in temperature really quickly. It got down to 66-67 degrees overnight. We didn't call the front desk that night because we didn't want to wake the kids up after getting them down. The next morning, when we called, they had a space heater up in ~20 minutes and fixed the heat while we were at breakfast, but if it's less than 10 degrees outside, you might think to check the heat before letting a guest check in. Third, while we had a great view of the ocean and beach during the day. At night the lights on the porch and lights on the boardwalk came on automatically making it much harder to see anything at night. The light on the boardwalk was particularly annoying since it was smack in the middle of our view. Maybe on higher floors (we were on the 2nd), it's less problematic. Still, the overall experience was nice and the off-season rates in the winter made it much more reasonable. The really fast walk to all the things from the hotel was also nice. It's right on the boardwalk and 2 blocks from the main drag. I don't think I could be convinced to pay on-season prices for it though and even as fancy as it was, there were still snags, which is disappointing. read more

I have been coming to this hotel since the mid 90's and have always been completely happy with everything. Last week, I returned again with a friend and her step daughter. I told her this was the best hotel in Rehoboth. To say I was disappointed is an understatement. The service was horrible. The mindset of the staff appeared to be what is best for the establishment and not for their customers. They were annoyed at every turn. We complained and told that we would receive a hundred dollar refund. I checked my bank account and did not see the refund. I called this morning explaining the circumstances. The man on the phone immediately argued with me and raised his voice interrupting me repeatedly. I will never come back. After almost 20 years of appreciating this hotel I will not come back. ...completely disappointed. read more

Great location and very family friendly! Service was fantastic! We had both breakfast and lunch at the hotel and both were really good. I was a bit nervous at first because of the Victorian decor but quickly found this place to be family friendly. Rooms are small but having a balcony makes it more spacious. Beds were so comfortable. All of the amenities that we could need. The pool was small and crowded but we spent our time at the beach so that didn't matter much! Will come back! read more

It's more like a high-end Bed and Breakfast than a hotel. The bed is so comfy! We have a soaking tub in our room. I love having the sink outside the bathroom. We have a clean, new balcony to watch the sun rise. We have access to the indoor/outdoor hot tub. They have everything you need at the hot tub and will bring drinks, if you want them. We held our wedding at this hotel and it was spectacular. Everyone stayed in the hotel and we had our ceremony and reception in the hotel as well. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and inviting. The interesting decor of the hotel made for excellent photographs. There is also an incredibly picturesque cottage next to the hotel for additional outdoor photos which they manage. The Kent/Sussex hall inside the hotel fit our needs for a wedding ceremony and reception perfectly. The food was excellent (Filets, CrabCakes and more). The hotel also owns a nearby coffee/bakery shop which gave us a great deal on our wedding cake. Most of all, Karen, the Sales Manager, diligently organized the entire event for us. She made everything a breeze! She really knew how to handle these events.The rest of the staff were all very polite and accommodating. Highly recommended for anyone looking to plan a wedding. read more

If you're going to Rehobeth Beach and have a few extra dollars, this is the place to stay. It goes out of its way to provide that Victorian B&B vibe and does a pretty good job at it. The service is great and if you reserve online and share on social media (as I did) you get a nice little gift when you get there. We went in October so it was outside "the season" so we had a really good time hanging out, watching the sunrise from our waterfront balcony and eating in Victoria's - the in-house restaurant. We really enjoyed the hotel and the amenities. Next time we go to Rehobeth, this is the place we'll be staying. read more

We returned for our anniversary and to put it mildly it could have been much better. We entered our very small room to find the bed seemly dirty. We called front desk and they did send two people to redo the bed. One of the craziest sites on day two was seeing a maid sitting on the floor on her phone hiding not so well behind her cart after we got off the elevator and were startled by seeing her. Not being a shy person she remained there for at least 30 minutes, we chose not to report her to the front desk for multiple reasons. When it was time to check out we noticed a crack on our windshield in the hotel parking lot where it has set most of our time in town. I reported it to the front desk and he shrugged his shoulders and said you have insurance it will cover it. The location of the dated property is excellent, the view from the top of the building was beautiful and its such a shame that no one at the front desk took the time to tell you the amenities you paid extra for like two free drinks ( price cap), morning coffee but where. We encountered two employees that seemed to care about customer service ( our bellhop bobby and our first time bartender both did a great job). Thank goodness we experienced some great meals and services outside of the hotel which eased the bad taste left by the overpriced stay. read more

***3.5 stars*** extra points for service, but points removed due to food quality The location of this hotel is pretty convenient to the main drag where all the tourists walk and it's right next to the beach. The parking is a little limited with some above ground parking and a small garage. The feel of the Boardwalk Plaza is kind of an old timey bed and breakfast, it's quaint and the staff is really nice. There are two parrots that hang out in the lobby area and you can view the indoor pool from the front desk. The pool is smaller than I imagined, but I guess that's because the beach is just a few steps away. The wifi is a little slow, but I suppose that's standard speed for a hotel. I had stayed here over the weekend, not too long ago, for a wedding. I found the staff to be as accommodating as possible. They put out a great spread for the cocktail hour - charcuterie and cheese, deviled eggs, and bacon wrapped scallops. I can't speak as positively for the dinner though. I had chosen the filet mignon with crab cake and risotto. The food wasn't very warm. The crab cake and filet were almost bland and the risotto tasted like I added some cheese sauce to rice. We also opted for room service breakfast the next day. My husband ordered the corned beef hash special and I had the sausage, eggs, potatoes and toast. I also ordered a croissant as a side, because I just love croissants. I really was just anticipating a fresh baked croissant, flaky on the outside and soft/hot on the inside. Our breakfast was not very satisfying. The beef for the hash was dry and tasted like it had been made a day or two before and just reheated and had fresh eggs and potatoes added to it. The croissant was a real disappointment for me because it wasn't fresh and store bought - I thought a Costco croissant tasted 100% better. The rest was standard fare and there wasn't anything wrong with it. There were two things that we would have liked to try, but didn't get a chance to - their high tea and Sunday brunch. Given the kind of food we had at the wedding and from room service, I am a little hesitant to try these things, but I would give it a chance; primarily because I love high tea and brunch. I'm just a sucker for these things I guess. I would definitely stay at the hotel again, but maybe seek other choices for my meals. If you're in Rehoboth during the off peak season, be aware that a lot of the smaller businesses are still closed for the winter. read more

The location is excellent but that's about all they have going for them. I've paid top dollar to stay at this hotel several times over the years. The service has been inconsistent in the past but this time was the worst! The hostess in the restaurant was angry (she told us this) and extremely unprofessional. The bartender was miserable and made sure we knew it was closing time. The room was average,, at best. The food quality was subpar. The prices are inflated, which I expect at the beach. But, in the past I felt I got what I paid for. Not this time! They really didn't care if I was happy and it showed. Won't be returning! read more

Will start with the positive... on the boardwalk. Victorian funky/shabby decor (my opinion), if you like that. Sweet and entertaining parrots in the lobby. Registration folks very nice. Negatives... called in advance to ask if hairdryer in room. Told yes, but not one there. Someone brought one. This was no biggie. Coffee maker did not work. Another no biggie, just another annoyance. Okay, here's the deal breaker and will NEVER stay there again! Brought a small bag for my clothes (never pack much) plus a small carry on bag. Placed 2 expensive sterling silver bracelets (worth several hundreds) in a zip lock bag in a compartment in carry one. NEVER took them out because NEVER wore them! Upon returning home searched both bags several times. They were GONE! Called hotel explaining the above and suggesting, perhaps, they speak with the housekeeper (not accusatory, just expressing concern). Said I needed to talk to housekeeping. Was transferred; spoke with someone explaining situation. She said she would call me back. She called me back a couple hours later stating "it's not in lost and found." Huh?!!!! They were stolen! Called back main number again, and later was told I was speaking to some manager type. After explaining, again, what happened, she stated, "so you found them?" Was she listening? Again, explained. Her response was, " you should check you luggage again or call the police." What?!! Feeling very frustrated, called again! Spoke with someone else who stated, "are you accusing the housekeeper of stealing." My response was, "I was just suggesting you talk with her." Her final response was, "you can call the police " and "please don't ever stay here again." Honestly, I was shocked! No apology, sorry for your loss, asking if I had insurance to cover, etc. Only defensiveness, zero concern, personalizing, and acting as if I was just annoying them. Not to mention, not cheap to stay there, like $400 per night. The WORST customer service I've ever experienced. BTW, later recalled someone leaving a hairdryer in the room while we were out...perhaps it was that person? As much as I would like to share this information with them, given my previous interactions, know it would be a total waste of my time. read more

Step back to a time when a classy hotel offered the highest service level delivered with a personal touch, and that sums up my wife and my recent visit to the Plaze. We pulled up and from the time we checked-in, we actually had a staff member direct us to the garage, then follow us in on foot, and then to grab my bags for the personal escort to the room... to the unbelievable service from room service, not to mention restaurant quality food we received with every meal just delicious.... to literally opening of the lobby door every time we came in or left.... The beach towel availability, coupon for beach umbrella... etc... everything was simply spot-on. Now add the wonderful location right on the ocean for convenience... the concierge level ocean front suite that was both spacious and very comfortable... the nostalgic ambiance of the hotel design and layout exuded charm.... and of course, the parrots in the lobby are special, with Emro, a Sun Conure parrot spending some quality time on my wife's shoulder, along with a couple kisses exchanged as well.... Conclusion, wonderful time and a very relaxing 4-day weekend for a couple in need of exactly that... great job and kudos to the hotel and their team for a job well done! read more

I usually avoid beachfront hotels like the plague. They are usually shabby, in dire need of an update, and packed with screaming children. After reading some positive reviews of this hotel, we were optimistic. To be fair, we visited in the off-season, so our chance of encounters with vacationing families was pretty slim. We chose an Ocean View King on the Concierge floor: adults only, tub with jets in the room and access to a private hot tub on the roof. Sounds great to me. Our room did not disappoint and was so luxurious. The hotel itself is incredibly detailed to look antique without feeling ancient. The room was gorgeous and extremely comfortable, and the roof hot tub...well, I wish every hotel would come with one of those! VIP, baby! Would definitely stay here again! read more
