When I called to make a reservation she was so kind and explained in detail the difference in rooms. I couldn't wait to meet her in person. She was just as sweet when I met her. A weekend stay to this lovely Lewes hotel is what made us decide to get a condo in the area, even though we eventuality found a 1050 square foot property in nearby Rehoboth Beach. Hotel Blue is classy, from its facade, to lobby, to fancy pants coffee maker to our room which was on the 2nd floor immediately above the hotel entrance. The room was fine for the 2 of us and would be a great venue for a romantic escape. The bathroom was updated, spacious, and clean as was the room. The gas fireplace was a great touch, and I fired it up for several minutes to the utter dismay and disapproval of my wife as we were there on a balmy August weekend and she is chronically hot. The staff was polite and accommodating, our room had real as opposed to plastic keys, and the parking lot out front was adequate in size. There is not someone on duty at the front desk during part of the late night hours, but I've never required assistance from a desk clerk in the middle of the night, or at least not yet. It is in easy walking distance of charming Lewes Second Avenue with Its abundance of restaurants and shops. Hotel Blue is not cheap, nor is it a no-tell motel sort of establishment accommodating screaming guests. If you're coming to the area, make reservations well in advance, and treat yourself and your honey with a stay at the Hotel Blue! read more

Boutique-style hotel in convenient location across the street from the canal in downtown Lewes. Beach is a short walk (even shorter drive) down Savannah Road. Our room was spacious, nicely furnished, electric fireplace (nice ambiance) and had a huge bathroom with separate soaking tub plus shower; double vanity with bowls that are lit blue! Clever! Plush towels. Balcony for sitting outdoors. Room had refrigerator, microwave, drip coffee pot and wet bar style sink. Coffee machine in lobby offered a variety of coffee drinks and hot water for tea. Delicious coffee! Staff could not have been nicer. Close to shops and restaurants; can't emphasize enough the great location. We had a short stay but look forward to our return. Absolutely and enthusiastically recommend Hotel Blue. read more

My mom and I were very happy with hotel blue! The pool, although small, was very relaxing with pool rafts and towels provided. The room was absolutely beautiful as was the decor around the building! It was quiet and relaxing. The only thing was that the room temp only went to 68 degrees, and although I would have it liked it cooler, we were able to manage it with the fan! I really think this is my favorite hotel. The staff is friendly and the rooms are great. Nicely appointed with a bed, comfy chair and TV. Most rooms have a balcony you can sit out on comfortably. There is also a working fireplace and a huge bathroom. The hotel does not have a restaurant or bar but each room has a small fridge and a micro wave and it really doesn't matter. The location is wonderful. Just across the street or just over the bridge were numerous places to get food, all within walking distance. Go the other way and the beach is just a few blocks off. We were just here for a couple of nights but absolutely loved it and for the first time ever in our travels, look forward to going back to a place. read more

Overall, great little boutique hotel in lewes. The hotel is convenient to the beach as well as the main downtown street with all the restaurants. Our room had a balcony that faced fisherman's pier. I was a little worried that there would be a lot of commotion and I could hear everything, but I couldn't hear a thing! Staff was very friendly when we checked in. It's not a big building so if you need something, there is always someone there to help. The beach was about a 10 minute walk, the street with all the restaurants was about a 5 minute walk. Only complaint I had was in regards to the AC & the beds. The beds weren't the comfiest and they made a ton of noise. Every time you turned over, it squeaked and woke you up. The AC was set at 68 when we were sleeping, but it definitely didn't feel like cool. I didn't sleep with a blanket for most of the night. The last complaint - more of a recommendation for the hotel - our bed was tucked away in a corner while there was a couch/living room right outside of it. They had a huge TV for the couch and this tiny - maybe 28 in TV for the bed. They could have saved themselves money and just got a swivel for the big tv read more

We had a wonderful stay here. The hotel is super clean (I'm not sure how they get their bathroom floors so darn sparkling white!). The lobby was nicely decorated for the holidays. The rooms were spotless and pristine. The hotel is walking distance to the shops and restaurants of Lewes. Best of all, they were so flexible with our reservations. My husband and I just spent a very enjoyable weekend at Hotel Blue. The hotel is in a perfect location for walking into town to shop or eat, or to walk to the beach (when it isnt July hot). Everything was very clean--much appreciated in these COVID times. And very quiet! I loved being able to recline on the bed and look out the windows at the canal and town. If I had one complaint, the tv had some weird distortion going on with the picture that made watching opening weekend of baseball rather difficult. Also, be prepared for the daily 7 am wake up call/horn from the departing fishing boat tour just across the street. read more

Room was clean and bed was comfortable. Bathroom was nice, only complaint was the sinks did not drain properly and shower could have greater water flow. Those are minor issues. My wife and I stayed here a few weeks ago, while on a trip to the Dogfish Head Brewery. Great place, clean rooms, very modern looking, a flat screen and fireplace in the room, a balcony (yeah, overlooking the parking lot, but you could see the wharf from there), and a very comfy bed. Great amenities, close to a lot of attractions, a very nice stay. My one negative? Crappy wireless service, it kept cutting out every couple of minutes, and there wasn't that many people in the hotel. They fix this issue, it's easily a 5 star place. read more

This past spring I surprised my husband with a birthday getaway to Dogfish Head Brewery. I booked Hotel Blue based on Yelp and Trip Advisor reviews as it was nearby, upscale, and did not allow children from what I gathered (it was our first weekend away from our son born last Fall and not hearing small children in the hotel was just perfect). Hotel Blue is a neat little place off the beaten path from "downtown" Lewis. It is contemporary and comfortable. The beds were great, the room has a fridge (I always have leftovers from dinner) and the bathroom was large. The bathroom fixtures had this neat neon, glowing, nighttime thing going on. Sadly, I can't explain it any better than that. The room had a great little seating area and two TVs so that you can watch in bed or from the couch! We were able to have a short walk downtown where there were quaint shops and top notch restaurants. Down the street from the hotel is a large bar/restaurant. We stopped down there around 11pm and they had live music. It was the first REALLY nice weekend after the longest winter ever so people were out and about and enjoying weather like it was a perfect early summer weekend. This was a bit higher of a price point than my husband would like to pay for a hotel (he is a $75-100 a night type of guy) but I've worked in hospitality and know what your dollar will get you. This place is fairly priced for the amenities you get. Also, there is parking right there at the hotel which is nice. Over all 4 stars and I would definitely return. The front desk service was nothing special or memorable and is my main factor for not giving a 5 star review. read more

Nice hotel. Rooms are a nice size & clean. Walking distance to the shops & restaurants.The reason I am giving it 3 stars is that the room temperature runs on the warm side. They have the thermostat only be able to be set to 68 degrees & it doesn't do a good job of keeping the room cool especially when It is hot outside. Wow, my husband and I spent a night at Hotel Blue for a wedding anniversary and it surpassed all of our expectations. The room was impeccably clean, and all the furniture stylish and pleasing. The bed was very comfortable, and the room/bathroom were spacious. The gas fireplace made the room nice and toasty. There were two flat-screen televisions, one facing the couch, and a smaller one facing the bed. I really got the feeling that a lot of love went into this hotel. Parking was right across from the door, and the view of the canal was enjoyable. You can easily walk to the little shops on and around Front Street, it was less than a quarter mile away (just over the bridge, which has a sidewalk). Perfect for a weekend getaway. Park your car and forget it, you can walk to either "town" or the beach. The room was great, I went off season so Pool was closed, but the Sauna was fantastic. The hotel is right by the harbor, you might hear fishing boats, but that's all part of the charm. .HOTEL BLUE...was just renovated very modern and the rooms are huge. Each room (16) has a long hallway, w/ a microwave & a nice size mini refrig & a bar...and then an entire sitting room/living room w/ a dining table, couch, and a comfy chair w/ ottman , a flat screen TV and one in the bedroom just off the living room....it was really lovely...and the word BLUE definitely has meaning in this hotel..Decorated in a very modern tone, it was comfortable and very stylish. It has a rooftop pool w/ a fireplace and a great sitting area where we had cocktails each nite (we provided that stuff) I would say it was a place to return to, the final bill had a charge for a gratuity...which was fine they really were helpful if you needed directions or suggestions for dinner. This place really did have great fetures, fresh fruit in the lobby and a great coffee ,expresso & cappicino machine. read more

Not happy at all , i came here for the first time and at first was very impressed, i was in town for a funeral of my best friends father , the owners saw me with their children when we checked in, nothing was said at the time about children not being allowed at hotel , we were in our room for an hour after they saw us and still nothing was said, after funeral arraignments were over we came back to the hotel at 10 pm with three little kids in tow a 2 year old a 7 year old and a 9 year old , we had offered to have them for the night so my friend whose father had just died could have a peaceful sleep in the next day , so kids stayed with us , all were exhausted and ready to flop into bed , when we arrived at 10pm we were told by the owners that the three kids were not really welcome and that they were charging us 50.00 dollars per kid to spend the night , we did not have a choice at that point as parents were already 30 mins away . i later went on line and saw their policy for rate charges and over 18 allowed only at hotel. still no where did it say additional charge of 50.00 per guest or child , i had not booked the hotel the father of the children did , he was paying for us as my niece and i were taking care of the children for them so they did not have to go to the funeral of their grandfather . i have never been treated this way at a hotel and never been told children were not welcome . my fist impression of hotel was great but after this treatment i would never come back here again . i think if the owners of hotel are so strict with there polices it would have been decent of them to make us aware of this on the three occasions they saw us with the children thru out the day and not wait till 10pm when we had not choice but to keep them with us and pay the extra charge of 150.00, at least let us know of policy so we would know for the next time . they clearly needed the extra 150.00 !!!! luckily there are nicer kinder hotels out there ., and people who like children . read more

My wife and I escaped the hustle of Washington for the weekend and can not say enough on how much we liked our stay. We arrived on Friday evening and decided to stay in for the evening. The room was clean and nicely decorated in a very traditional. We loved the fireplace and enjoyed our wine and our sushi. We stayed on the third floor deluxe suite with a great Lewes. The staff was professional and pleasant. We have stayed in hotels in Paris, London, and Brussels among others but this was one of the nicest rooms. We will be back. read more

This place definitely surprised me. Not your typical beach/shore hotel. Beautifully decorated, hip and clean. We came in April, kind of a spur of the moment trip. The only thing is that there is no one at the front desk after 7pm. We didn't realize that, but someone called us from the hotel to let us know and our key was in a lockbox outside when we arrived. Being that it was off season, I would imagine that is why there was no one at the desk. Anyway, the room we had was huge! Probably the biggest hotel room I've been in. The ice bucket had lights in it and changed colors! We had a table with two chairs, a sofa with a table, a chair and ottoman, a fireplace with a tv above, and a queen bed and balcony(even though ours faced the back of the hotel it was still peaceful). Small refrigerator, microwave, sink, coffee maker and robes!! It felt a lot like someone's guest room rather than an actual hotel room. The bathroom was also huge. The toilet had its own room and there were double sinks in the bathroom that had blue lights in them! The shower was ok. That's my only dislike. It had a chair and rails for handicap which is cool, with a handheld shower. The handheld was attached to the wall in a way that you couldn't really stand underneath though. You actually had to use it as a handheld, which was quite a pain. But everything else, I really liked a lot. I definitely will stay here again in the future. I've never been to Lewes and it looks like such a nice and quant town. read more
