Room # 1 - No upright mattress would be complete without the bedding be piled up in the bathroom floor

Don't do it. Just keep driving. Spend a few more dollars if you have to. So much to unpack here, so I'll just dive right in. After a long day at work, we left and drove in from out of state. During our trip, we hit some extreme weather (I'm talking missed a tornado by the skin of our teeth, hail, heavy rain). We check in after 10:30PM, load everything on a cart, and head up to the 6th floor. When we travel without the children, we book a king size bed-- we enjoy the extra space on these rare occasions, since we sleep in a queen size bed at home. We unlock room 611 and it's pitch black (generally the lamps are on or something). We stumble around for a light switch and find the king size mattress and box spring standing upright in the room. The bedding is wadded up in a pile on the bathroom floor. We were tired and frustrated. By the time we made it back to the lobby, a group of what I assume were a travel ball team, were lined up waiting to be checked in. After waiting in line, we still had to wait, since the gentleman assisting us was new and required further assistance to address our situation. Somehow they were "booked out" but found a room for us. A double-- two full sized beds. With an adjoining room. Much to our chagrin, our neighbors were enjoying loud TV. And the people across the hall had a very yappy little dog-- what a treat. While my husband showered, I went to work setting up his CPAP machine. The built in night stand had one of those cheesy extension cords dangling with the plug for the phone and alarm clock. I unhooked those items and was relieved his CPAP was a 2-prong and not a 3-prong. Then I brushed my teeth. While rinsing the sink, I noticed it wasn't draining-- why wouldn't it! The next morning, I was rather irritated I could not sleep in longer. The sun was pouring in to our room. I asked my husband if he'd opened the drapes or why he hadn't closed the blackout curtains behind them-- both layers were closed, but they were moth eaten and laser beams of sunshine were peeking through. With an early start to the day, we went down to address our room with management. We wanted the king size room we paid for or we wanted to check out and find somewhere else to stay. Ms. Shirley made it happen, finding an available room with a king size bed. But not before explaining to us that the original room we walked in to had actually been fumigated and should have never been marked as available, let alone provided a key for entry. I asked her about the electrical situation and showed her my photo. She said a guest must have plugged that in and housekeeping overlooked it, because that was not "the Hyatt Standard". While I waited in the lobby for the new room keys, I was surprised they didn't have coffee available to guests, shortly past breakfast hours. Arturo to the rescue- he had some left over and gave me a cup. Afterwards, I moved our belongings to the third and final destination during this stay, where I found 2 more cheesy extension cords-- one on each side of the bed, dangling from the built in nightstands. Oh boy! Someone else must have been so lucky to stay in multiple rooms, like us, and just so happened to have a bunch of these extension cords on hand. Or, this was just the Dallas/Plano Hyatt Place standard! Based on the fact the sinks from our 2nd and 3rd rooms also had mixed sink and plumbing hardware, I'm going to assume it's the latter. Since hubs had to fast, we hung out in our hotel room. We were in for another treat, since the television had basic cable and the channel we finally decided to watch (A&E, I believe), wasn't working all that well. I never realized how spoiled by a smart TV or on-demand television I was until this moment. But! If for some reason you're in to early 2000's relics, you will enjoy the assorted cable connection built in to the TV stand! Not sure what you'd use that many cable adapters for, but maybe you could program a space ship from all those gadgets. The bathroom was cramped-- if you were on the toilet, you either had to plan ahead and close the door or you had to use the bathroom with the door open. The lamps did not have their own individual switches, they were powered by the overhead light switch. The next morning, we experienced another set of moth eaten curtains that woke us up bright and early. It was 6am-- we decided we'd eat breakfast and head home-- this place made me more home sick than I've ever been. Saturday breakfast is not served until 7am. Surprisingly, Arturo's breakfast was the most pleasant part of our stay and worth the wait. Long story short-- we will likely have to stay in this area again and will absolutely find somewhere else to lay our heads.

Not a great stay at this location. First time trying a Hyatt Place and I won't return. Tips: request a room opposite side of the pool. If on first floor you hear doors slamming your entire stay. Also if it's garbage day that will wake you too. Nothing like being woken to the sound of a slamming dumpster, But hey first time for everything. Food sucks don't try it and they updated rooms yet didn't bother to install USB chargers. How is this updated?

They offer self park for $23 a night (May 2026) or valet for $45. We did self park. The lobby is very attractive and melds into the lounge area. We were greeted immediately at check in and the process was very easy. In terms of the room, our room (two queen beds) was definitely on the small size. It was functional but certainly one of the smallest rooms I have experienced in Dallas. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The room was clean and the carpet was not stained. The shower had a very strong water flow and was a sufficient size for one person. Overall, it is a very nice hotel. There is lounge and restaurant. The pool was supposed to be heated but in May the water was cold. The pool area has a small bar but beer options are quite limited. The best thing about the hotel is its excellent location. You are literally steps from Legacy West with the row of seemingly endless eating and shopping options. Having parked in the hotel lot, there was no need to drive and fight for scarce parking along the street. The reason for 4 stars is that at night we could hear loud music. I am guessing it came from a nearby bar or restaurant. The noise was loud enough to notice but not so obnoxiously loud as to prevent sleep. Still, the preference would be for quiet.

The main reasons for the three star rating are the check in process and my room. It took an hour and a half for me to get my keys because someone either hadn't booked my room or booked it incorrectly. After a long day of travel, I wanted to rest, freshen up, and eat, but I had no such luck. It really put a damper on my day. Secondly, once I got to the room, I had other issues. It smelled incredibly musty and I knew it was because the carpets needed cleaning. Some parts of the floor felt stiffer than others, indicating that something was spilled on them. I was so hungry and was actually willing to pay for minibar snacks, but there weren't any (no drinks either except for water). I was also hoping for a more generous bathroom setup as well (makeup wipes, etc.). The water pressure in the shower was a bit too low as well. On the plus side, this hotel is within walking distance of many great restaurants and shopping. This experience wasn't the best, but they are typically a solid choice.

This is a gorgeous property in a fantastic location. Checking In & Perks If you aren't a member yet, definitely sign up before you arrive! Upon checking in, we were greeted with a complimentary drink and free WiFi. Karina handled our check-in and was absolutely wonderful--extremely amicable, professional, and the perfect example of excellent customer service. The Atmosphere & Unique Daily Themes One of the coolest features of this hotel is the daily theme hosted in the lobby: Day 1: A complimentary snack cart stocked with chips, candy, and water. Day 2: A fun trail mix station. A bourbon and burger event offered at a very reasonable cost. On our second day, we interacted with Rashad, who was also the absolute epitome of customer service. The staff here truly goes above and beyond. The Rooms & Amenities The rooms are incredibly large, spacious, and well-designed. Our room faced the mini-field at The Star adjacent to the hotel. Even though the hotel was completely at full capacity during our stay, the room was remarkably quiet. The soundproofing is top-notch. The bathroom was equally spacious. We did have one minor hiccup where a provided bath towel was visibly dirty, but the staff handled it flawlessly, immediately exchanging it for fresh linens the next morning. The pool area is beautiful, and both the bartenders and pool attendants were incredibly attentive and quick with their service. Dining & Events We spent some time at Neighbors, the on-site bar and restaurant, and sat on the patio to people-watch. There are also plenty of other great restaurants within short walking distance. As for the birthday celebration, the event space was stunning. The decor leading up to and outside of the ballroom was beautiful and incredibly well-executed. The event food and drinks were great overall; the only minor drawback was that the fries were a bit too salty, but the rest of the meal was delicious. A Special Highlight As an added bonus, Samuel L. Jackson was filming a spinoff of Tulsa King right when we arrived! Despite the production hustle and bustle, the hotel staff did a seamless job of accommodating regular guests and maintaining a premium experience. In closing, I highly recommend this property for its spacious rooms, stellar location, and a team that truly understands hospitality. We will definitely be back!

The pool area was good and our server was super helpful the afternoon we were there. The bad....we checked into our adjoining rooms and they both had this weird smoke smell. We asked to be moved but they couldn't move us to different rooms. Someone came in and sprayed some air freshener instead. One of the adjoining doors was broken and wouldn't stay open so maintenance had to come fix that. The closet doors also would not close all the way so the light stayed on all night. The room was damp. When you woke up in the morning, everything and I mean everything, was cold and damp. Even my shoes. The duvets seemed like they hadn't been replaced since they opened. They were paper thin and all the feathers were clumped together and uncomfortable. On Friday and Saturday night they had a bar and snacks out, but once everyone checked out on Sunday it was like a ghost town. Sunday night there was no bartender at the bar, no snacks out and no water in the lobby. For the price I was very disappointed and would not recommend it. I only gave it 3 stars because of the staff.

Overall, I was really impressed! I've been to several conferences in my lifetime and this one felt professional, yet also elegant and warm at the same time from the set up and the snacks and formal dinner that were offered. Our conference had between 125-150 attendees. First of all, they had multiple rooms with multiple set ups, but all on the same conference hall wing. It felt very private. Not really any outside people strolling through because not much else is on that end of the hotel. All of the technology (including live video chat incoming to the room, playing videos during the conference, mikes, and video recording for later AND the lights and music of the amazing dance floor that night) worked as it should. They were kind enough to store a large sheet cake for us in the fridge until dessert. During the conference, they provided an incredible array of comfort/snack foods that you will see in my pictures. For dinner, we had an amazing several course meal starting with a seafood bisque with a flaky pastry crust, filet mignon, with delicious sides, and ending with an apple pie with the same amazing flaky crust, which is totally my weakness. That night I shared a room with other participants and slept on the couch since they already claimed the king bed. It was actually really comfortable! We had the doors open between our room and the room next to it which was super convenient for all the back and forth we had to get things needed downstairs for the conference. The hotel was always so helpful when we kept misplacing keys every time we loaned them to someone else who just had to run up and grab one more thing. All of the staff I interacted with had that great southern hospitality with a blend of professionalism. The next morning we grabbed the hearty buffet breakfast downstairs and I got a custom omelette, a biscuit with gravy, fruit, and a few cups of coffee! It was just what I needed to fuel me for my bus trip to spend under 24 hours in Waco, including #MagnoliaMonday! I highly recommend this hotel to stay or hold your event here! It was also a reasonably priced Uber ride from the airport to get here!
