You'll also see complaints on Yelp for his previous Morningstar Turf company. -The complaints are mostly around Marc taking down payments and not delivering any services -This is exactly what he did to me -He owes me my $1,200 down payment after taking the money, not installing turf and then blocking my phone number when I requested the money back multiple times. -His last text before blocking my number was "Call a lawyer before you call the cops. If you expect a project to be completed in a timely or professional manner DO NOT hire Marc and his crew. There will be lies about project completion time repeatedly and no communication. We signed a contract on 9/20/16 with an estimated start date of 10/10/16 with a 10 day completion date. There has been weeks that has gone by with little to no work and failure to communicate. Please please do not work with Hybrid turf! If you don't believe the negative reviews on yelp, I encourage you to go to www.bbb.org and look them up. The complaints there will give you a good idea of what you're dealing with when it comes to this company. They have an F rating. We started a project with them on August 8 that was estimated to take one week. It was a super simple project, just a flat, square area of turf in our backyard. By the middle of October, they were about half way done and we couldn't take it anymore and parted ways. We had another company come in on a Friday for a consult and they literally came back the next Monday and completed the project in 5 hours (Marc said there were 2-3 days left of work). Similar to other negative reviews posted, Marc would go out of communication for weeks at a time. Reasons for the delays were either not given, due to having many projects, 3 claims of being sick and out of work and communication, and twice due to family issues. A new timeline, though frequently requested, was never given or estimated (giving us no idea/parameters of projected end-date). He then complained that we were not being flexible enough because we told him there were certain dates (well outside the estimated project timeline) that we had guests with us and didn't want work being done. Marc collected and cashed money for work that hadn't been completed (and then took forever to complete the work). He did this once and tried to do it multiple times, even though it is explicitly stated as illegal to do that in his own contract. We refused, saying we would pay him for each portion of the project as it was completed. He then kept coming up with "issues" with the project that would cost us more money to fix. His crew were not professional. They left trash on our property, swore loudly, came into our backyard unannounced on labor day weekend after not hearing from them for weeks, left materials in our driveway, blocking it's use for weeks, etc. Hybrid turf and Marc have very suspicious business practices, the quality of their work is substandard, the experience of working with them was virtually unbearable. He never apologized for the delays and we felt like were constantly being manipulated or mislead. This was an absolute nightmare folks. Stay away. I'm not sure we can do anything legally, though we are in the process of trying - mostly, our goal is to help make it so others do not have to go through what we did. read more

My wife left a comment regarding their willingness to assist even though we were not customer. When she asked to buy any left over turf they may have to sue for decorations they said we can just have them. In fact Mark (Owner) invited us to his home and even went out of his way to load the materials in our vehicle. Great People and will recommend them and use them in the near future. read more

At a stage in my life where if you want things done correctly, then you have to do it yourself. Over the past decade my experience with so called "professionals" doing quality work has been hit or miss, mostly miss. Convinced that I could DIY our turf project my wife prompted me to at least call around for a few estimates. I called Hybrid Turf and met with Marc the owner. After reviewing the project and sharing his insightful design ideas I was leaning towards having him do the work. I made another call to get an estimate from a competitor and received just that, which did not include any of the "extra" that Marc offered through his experience. Bottom line, I went with Hybrid Turf and could not be happier. TRUST ME when I tell you, this is one project you don't want to do yourself without any experience. The CREW: Luis and Luis, plus Martin were simply amazing! They communicated very well, made sure the work zone was clean and more importantly are all around HARD workers. They walked us through the process, made sure we understood everything, helped us make some design decisions and because of that the job came out PERFECT! Sorry NO! Contracted 6/17/15. Work to take 2 weeks and be done around 4th of July. Work was just completed 8/21. I kept getting excuses, Finishing this job, yours next week, next week, next week. Finally got them to start job after threatening to cancel the contract and worked one day and job sat there untouched for two more weeks. The crew are great guys who work their tails off when they finally get sent to the job but Mark has more excuses than ants on an ant hill and none are any good. Now that the job is finally done, it looks fine but if you deal with Hybrid Turf, GET EVERYTHING IN WRITING, don't believe he'll get it to you, and insist on a "non completion by" penalty clause up front. My wife and I have been in the market for some artificial turf installers for some months now. Hybrid came out to our home about month ago. We got a on the spot verbal estimate, yet never received and emailed estimate. Today was the 3rd time I called them to get the emailed quote. Because I've had other contractors come out to give us a quote there quote is unknown. Essentially meaning its feel like I'm chasing them in order to just get an estimate. Well now I'm moving on. Update MARCH 2017...got a quote in December to do the front of the property which I share with a neighbor. Marc Morningstar took our deposits and thousands in extra "payment plan" money from my neighbor and left the job hanging. He won't return calls/texts. Business line is disconnected. Marc, don't do this man. You are better than this. Sort out your legal issues and get to work. In the meantime, have some integrity and let your customers know what is going on. read more

I am very impressed with this company. I was trying to put in some artificial grass and decided to just google artificial turf companies. I have never been more happy that I found Hybrid Turf Corp. From the first interaction to the last this guy was great to work with. Anytime I had any sort of question, he was a wealth of knowledge. I was even very concerned about having a dog on the artificial grass, and he was excellent in letting me know all the facts. I am now glad to say instead of some backyard that needed constant maintenance and it still looked like garbage, I now have a back yard I am no ashamed of. A job quoted to take two weeks took over two months. I got lies every time I called "we got hung up on another job. We'll start yours tomorrow" No Show. Two weeks after the job was done, gophers sprung up all over the place. I have the records, my payments were madeon time as work completed and checks cashed without problem. We had grass strips between a grid of bricks replaced with turf. It had to be done right or it would have been a disaster. The owner came over and figured out a plan. Then Martin did the work. He was exacting, thorough and meticulous. The result was perfect. Could not recommend a better company for your tricky replacement of grass project. They probably can do normal jobs too. read more

This guy is a complete scam artist. I'm a licensed Landscape Contractor here in San Diego. I was informed this weekend that a customer of his signed a contract with Marc Morningstar using the name Hybrid Turf. The only problem is he used my license number as well as his own. This customer called me inquiring if we were associated with him. My company is Hybrid Landscape Maintenance & Design LLC. Not only does he rip off his clients he is fraudulently using my license number. I contacted the Contractor's State License Board this morning and am having to fill out forms to protect my name. I've been in business for 39 years and have never been sued. This guy is a real jerk and I've never met him. He needs to go to jail. read more

These guys are great! Marc came out to our house for a no pressure and very informative visit. He made promises and his guys delivered! With the help of Mae in the office, Hybrid Turf was able to send a crew out one day for some serious demolition in our weedy, overgrown, and basically horrible backyard. The next time they were out to the house they prepared the ground, and confirmed a final day to install which was the very next day! Great job! We contracted with Hybrid Turf in mid-July. Marc said the installation would be in 10-14 days. After a month, we still hadn't heard from Marc. Phone calls went direct to voice mail; it appears there is no business office. We had to cancel the project and go with another local vendor because we were concerned the delays would go beyond our rebate deadline. The other vendor did a great job and installed earlier than originally scheduled. Marc did return our deposit. read more
