Wow this Farmers Market is truly a market, mushrooms, collards, pastries, fruit and many flowers…read more Street parking was not a hassle on Saturday morning. The crowd was manageable and we didn't experience no buffoonery. I'm going back because I had a greedy spirit and finished my treats from Pleasant House Pub and Royal pies. I'm sorry, I really wanted to like this market. Don;t get me wrong, the vendors were great and we…read morebought more than we should have, honestly. But there are some significant issues. From outside in, the parking sucks. All very narrow street parking. Good luck. Then just finding the market is a challenge. An almost unmarked door just down from a coffee shop. What is this, some kind of speakeasy? Once you're in you're looking at two rooms of about 8 vendors per room. Kinda weak. And only maybe 2 of them were actual "farmers". The others had juices or baked goods or breakfast burritos or whatever. Not bad, just not exactly farmers market items en mas. The venue is...weird. It's like an artist coop or something. Really poorly suited to the market. The first thing I noticed was the smoke from cooking (burned?) breakfast foods hanging in the air. Less than ideal. The prices are stupid. Like stupid high. Sure, you expect that from "artisanal", "organic", "small batch", etc stuff. But this was over the top. $8 for a loaf of bread less than 1/3 of a loaf at any other bakery is stupid. The vendors are great, the quality is great. The space, both inside and out sucks, and the prices border on criminal. I suggest you look around for other venues if you are on a budget.

Now Yelpers, listen up, do you SUFFER from Hayfever like I do??…read moreHere's a secret to save you money and make you less miserable: Buy local honey at this market (a bottle is $10--way cheaper than OTC Zertec or Claritin) and eat a tablespoon a day. Before you know it, your allergies will be gone. Why?! Because the bees roam around the city and pollinate from the same plants that give your that runny nose and those itchy eyes. Think of it as a painless immunization. The beekeeper has her beehives right behind at her Carpenter Street house. If you really get into it, you can work a deal with the caring beekeeper to purchase a huge bucket for several months. And the honey is BEE-LICIOUS! (yes, that was lame). More Good News: Gosh, what a cute cultural market! The salespeople are so sweet and friendly. The love for what they specialize in or do shines through in their smiles. The market is like none of the others in the city due to its Latin American cultural roots and flavors. They have private, original art for sale (meet the artisans themselves), fresh vegetables, breakfast items, coffee/tea/mate, delicious-looking pastries, dog treats, and my favorite...local honey products. They even have a great looking website (listed above). The Bad News: While it is VERY small (10 tents possibly), they have a great variety of local products. Bring cash! :) The VERY Bad News: You'll have to wait until next year ;(. The market only runs (well this past year) on Sundays from July 27th until October 26th 9 am to 2 pm. ---- Featured in the Weekly Yelp-Chicago "Farmers Market Almanac" on June 2, 2009: http://www.yelp.com/weekly?editorial_id=W8Z6vofGex0KswvVq8Uxhw

Agreed, it's a small Farmer's Market but still worth a visit. I always feel great about supporting…read morelocal farmers and merchants and the bonus is I get good treats to eat. Today we stopped there after grabbing some coffee on 18th and Carpenter ;-). We picked up some juicy tomatoes, corn, onions, grape tomatoes, potatoes and garlic. I also grabbed some chicken and mole and ground beef and potatoes empanadas on the way out for our lunch. We reheated them on the panini grill at lunch time. I also scored some fun peach jam. Can't wait to go back next week and try the fresh bread, pastries, vegetarian tamales and tarts. I figure we will take our own "carry out" bags to do good for the environment and take a blanket with so we can turn our Farmer's Market walk into a Sunday picnic. Farmer's Market ends Oct. 28 for 2013. I'm sad I didn't start going sooner but I plan on grabbing some treats from now til then.

This brand new Farmer's Market is a replacement for the old one that used to be at the Village Hall…read more(see https://www.yelp.com/biz/orland-park-farmers-market-orland-park?osq=farmers+market). This new Market has longer hours and a more expansive location to make it easier for people to attend. It is now located at the 143rd METRA Station in Orland Park...roughly one block west of LaGrange Road at 142nd Street. The Market is held on Thursdays only...from May 25 to August 31. Hours are from 4pm to 8pm. If you happened to be a METRA rider, you will find the Market as soon as you jump off the train at night. Besides adding some live entertainment at this location, the number of vendors is expected to grow substantially as customers find the site. Right now there are about two dozen vendors. The vendors are much like those that were visiting the old Farmer's Market, but this location will eventually attract many additional vendors. Food and food trucks, notions, candles, honey, fresh fruit and vegetables, and many Orland Park businesses are here. For example, the University of Chicago medical people are represented ... even more so because they have a new four story facility just a couple hundred feet away. This new Market is worth trying...it is just one more example of the Village trying to upgrade its offerings to the public. Recommended.

Printer's Row Farmers Market! You could be like me and play the "I'm not at a bakers market, I'm at a farmers market" and try to stay strong to avoid the bakery stands...or you could you just go to town on almond croissants next to Yvolina's Tamales from 18th Street, set right next to a coffee stand, and then MORE PASTRY. This last weekend, I left with Ruby's Hibiscus drink reduction for the second time which mixes so well as a mocktail. I went to two produce stands and got myself a beautiful heirloom tomato and yellow plums. Life is good :)

I'll plan on coming here again to try the tamales. So many great options to choose from however there should be a regulation on how fresh goods are displayed - served. Everything should be wrapped up individually or encased in some sort of covering. Many people were outside coughing dogs were shaking their hair which made getting the fresh baked goods un appealing because I literally saw hair fly all onto the fresh baked goods. Gross! Hopefully they can get some regulation in there because everything looked so good! There is parking around that area you will have to pay. Be sure to try the Matcha tea! I had the strawberry & mango Matcha it was delicious.
