Review for Nicklous Godley, PA -- Jacksonville Orthopedic Institute…read more this is my first review and I'm almost 70 years old I have been in chronic, excruciating hip pain since September 2024 and have been under JOI's care since November 2024. At my initial visit, I was diagnosed with bursitis and sent to Brooks Rehab for 11 sessions. After completing the rehab, I received no follow-up, no feedback, and no guidance on next steps. Months later, I found out my provider had quit -- but no one at JOI ever contacted me or continued my care. I was left in pain with nowhere to turn. Today, I had an appointment with Physician Assistant Nicklous Godley, and unfortunately, it was one of the most disheartening and unprofessional medical experiences I've ever had. From the moment he learned I wasn't ready to move forward with surgery, his demeanor completely changed. He became dismissive, cold, and disengaged. I explained that I've been waking up every night in pain and asked multiple times for him to complete an FMLA form so I wouldn't face consequences at work while trying to manage this condition. He refused, saying that I'm not a patient of his and that JOI would only consider FMLA after I scheduled surgery -- even though I've been with JOI for nearly a year. In the middle of the conversation, he did say, "I'm sorry this sounds so harsh," but by that point, the damage was done. His words and tone felt completely lacking in empathy. I came in desperate for relief and left feeling ignored and deeply disappointed. There is no continuity of care here, no accountability, and no real concern for what the patient is going through. I cannot recommend Nicklous Godley to anyone seeking compassion, understanding, or true medical support. I felt like he was a used car salesman if he wasn't gonna be able to close a deal by scheduling me with some sort of surgery! He brought up knee surgery back surgery and completely turn very rude and cold because I was not interested in surgery ! horrible experience today He asked and I quote "why are you here if you're not scheduling a surgery" Do your homework before you pick out this guy terrible experience Horrible bedside manner.

First off, the doctors and nurses here would get five stars easily. Every doctor and PA I've seen has been excellent, careful, willing to spend time explaining things. However...this facility has massive staffing issues. You literally cannot get anyone to answer the phone here. I showed up for a morning appointment recently, and the line to check in was 40 people deep, curling all the way around a pretty large room, with maybe three staffers actually working while the rest milled around. I had an afternoon appointment a couple months before that, and when I went to the lobby to check out and schedule a follow-up, there was literally one person working with ten patients waiting. I'm not sure what's going on, but they need to invest in hiring maybe twice as many folks to support the great doctors and nurses here. Otherwise this practice will grind to a halt.

It was very easy to get ahold of them and they are accepting new patients. I saw on their door they even accept walk ins, which I thought was nice. Their staff is very friendly and quick. They check you in on time and efficiently. I am new to my chiropractic journey so their team was informative when I had questions. Dr. Tina was also really great, she asked many questions that I felt were applicable to my situation and goals of general improved health and wellness. The appointments go by quickly but they efficiently get you through each part. For me, things are pretty simple, prepping before the adjustment (roller bed and tens unit) then in a room for my adjustment. I mentioned I have been having some sinus issues and Dr. Tina remember to focus on those as well. My experience so far has been a good one.

From the moment Dr.AJ Torres stepped into the room I felt like an inconvenience. His lack of compassion and patience made me regret even coming in. Dr.Torres made sure to scold me about the proper process when a patient has just been discharged from the hospital and makes an appointment with their primary. It's seems as if he was having a bad day, everyone has bad days but today he was a bad doctor. I started with Dr. Yurio and after a few sessions of physical therapy ordered an MRI. Turns out I completely tore my ACL and part of my meniscus. I was presented with my options and ultimately decided to have surgery to repair my injuries. I was transferred to Dr. Kaplan and he again presented me with my options. I decided to continue moving forward with the surgery. At no time was I pressured into having the surgery. For my lifestyle and health it made sense to move forward. Fast forward to surgery day - The surgery center is in the same building and is well maintained. I was introduced to several people who would be participating in the surgery and each one confirmed with me why I was there. It was clear patient care and safety was a top priority. Follow up appointments were a breeze. They email any paperwork required prior to the appt. And after check in the most I ever waited was 5 mins in the big waiting room or in the actual room. I saw either the PA and Surgeon during these appts. Both were professional and never made me feel rushed and felt comfortable asking questions. I was in and out in less than 30 mins from check in to check out. I had a positive experience from start to finish with this group of Dr.s and would recommend them. There are several Dr.s with different specialties available. I did see one of the foot Dr.s several years ago, can't recall his name, and did not have the same positive experience.

I was super reluctant to do PT, which is why it took me soooooo long to get in---but hindsight is 20/20 and I'm so glad I did. It has been several weeks of therapy, my pain has significantly decreased and my mobility improved. Aside from exercises, I also had Astym, Dry needling (which I am a firm believer in and experienced improvement less than 24 hours after treatment), stretching and other deep muscle techniques (ya know, the stuff that hurts but feels good?). It really was a holistic approach to my care, which I appreciate. I gained a lot of knowledge and tools that will help me continue to be active and healthy. I also improved form on many exercises I normally do. I am in awe of the work they do here. Brian, Charlanna, Mary, Sean, La'Neja - you all bring a high level of expertise, excellence and genuine care in all that you do. Speaking from experience, the customer service part of it isn't that good. There is a disconnect in…read morecommunication between the hospital, St. Vincent's where the procedures/surgery takes place and the Cancer Specialist office where the doctors, nurses and medical schedulers are. There is no communication between the two places where there should be because if no one can communicate with the other, that could mean that someone may die if proper communication is not made! There's got to be a better system in place for communication so everyone knows what is happening with the patient and everyone will know what care the patient is receiving. It would save a lot of time and energy in having to repeat why the patient or care taker is calling if the hospital and doctor's office can communicate!
