Called Hydro Tech to come figure out what was wrong with my Spa. It wasn't heating, and I wasn't sure what was going on. Greg came out, same day and was able to determine it was a faulty heater. I asked him about getting a new heater, but supply chain issues put a few weeks in between time I ordered and received. However, Greg had a workaround. We moved into a new house that had a hot tub. When we first used it, it tripped the circuit breaker. So, I reached out to a few businesses via yelp. Greg was the first to reply, in spite of it being a weekend. He came over within an hour, diagnosed that one of the pumps was leaking. Said he will come back on Monday, remove the pumps, take them to his workshop to fix, and come back the next day to put them back! And he did just that, with superb workmanship, great attitude, friendly interactions and he went over and above to give helpful tips on how to take care of the Jacuzzi. It was a pleasure to watch him work as he knew exactly what he was doing, no guessing, no experimentation! I felt his charges were a little higher than what I was expecting, but my expectations could be wrong to start with. I read the reviews and decided to call Hydro Tech because they were open on Sunday- a rarity among Spa repair places- and had mostly stellar reviews. Greg answered, said he'd be going in to the shop later and could stop by. The pump had started making grating sounds. He showed up removed the pump and said if he had the parts he might be able to get it back by the evening. One and a half hours later he called and asked if he could stop by for a re-install. half hour after that, it was done. He basically rebuilt the pump- new seals, bearings and propeller. The last time the pump broke down they wouldn't even talk about a fix, just had us buy a new one. So for half the cost, I was soaking in the tub the same day it broke. Greg said it was lucky- he was free, on his way in and had the parts. Sometimes we all get a break. He is very professional, explained things and made a realistic estimate of time and cost. Greg took great care of us when our 1997 spa died recently. He replaced the recirculation pump, cleaned the venturi valve, showed me how to replace the ozone generator and advised me what kind to buy (corona discharge, not UV). He also spotted the rat that had made a home inside :‑( Finally, he saved us a bunch of money by suggesting I clean the filters instead of replacing them. Called Greg on a Friday afternoon in which I described the error message on my Spa. He diagnosed over the phone and was at my place making the repair within 2.5 hrs. He made the repair in 30 minutes and his fee was as estimated over the phone. He spent the time describing what part failed in the spa and provided general overview of other parts in the spa. I have an older Sundance hot tub that was not used by the prior owner and not properly maintained. After doing extensive researching online, I found Greg at Hydrotech. He was the original Sundance hot tub technician in this area and was the only one for many years. We scheduled a time for him to come take a look at my hot tub. He was accessible by phone, text, and email which was very convenient. He arrived on time, was very personable, and extremely knowledgeable about hot tub systems. After replacing a few parts (which he had on hand!) and explaining the basic functioning of the system and maintenance, I was able to get the system up and running. If you need any service done on your hot tub I recommend you consider Greg from Hydro Tech. Mine stop working completely. Greg came out within 2 days of me contacting him and determined circuit breaker was bad. Replaced it with non GFCI breaker since that was all that was readily available to get operational right away, reprogrammed the unit, and I was good to go. He determined that one of my pumps was leaking, so he arranged to come back after I emptied the tub (needed to be drained anyway) and replaced all the seals in that pump as well as the other, and after the tub was refilled, it was working like it did when I purchase in late 2002. Just came by today at no cost to me, to replace the circuit breaker with a GFCiI circuit breaker I purchased at Home Depot. His prices are very reasonable and he saved me money repairing those pumps opposed to replacing them. Can't go wrong with this guy. Thorough, knowledgeable, not pricy, and honest. read more

This guy Greg from Hydro Tech got me in hot water with my fiancé. OK, on Saturday night my girlfriend killed our newly installed hot tub--our circa 2000 Beachcomber 550x we moved from a friends' s pad. Actually she just went to turn on the jets and it died. The next day I messed around with it, pulled out the manual, looked on the internet--i changed the fuses and got it going again but no heat. I was convinced that I needed a new heater(or at least a heater element). I even got the part number! I called Hydro Tech about 10AM Monday morning: I gave him my analysis of the situation. He said he had another job but would stop by in the afternoon. Around 2:30 he text me to say he was on his way over. When he got to the house he listened to what I had to say, pulled the cover off the controller, hooked up his meters, looked around, had me restart it. "I think it's just a loose connection." BOOM, fixed.I AM VERY PLEASED. He could sold me a new heater part for $100+, a new element for $40+, hell he coulda told me I need a whole new controller for $500+. Better'n that, I am glad I did not attempt the repair myself, because it would have been for naught- it was a loose connection! Professional, friendly, HONEST, Dude and Company. We've had our Bahai Sundance Spa for 14 years without any problems, and then several things happened. After calling many service companies, we went with Greg who was incredibly helpful and responsive. First, we had a leak, and before he came out, he looked at the photos and videos to save us time (and money!). He came out right away and fixed it, right before the holidays. Additionally, we had a "watchdog" error which kept shutting off the motor. Greg wasn't able to fix this at the same time, but he came out again and gave us a very fair rate. When he was here, he took the time to teach us how to change the heat sensor so we could do it ourselves the next time it happened. Ironically, we had another thing wrong so we contacted Greg again. He told us where to order the part online to get it at the cheapest rate and to watch YouTube videos since it was an easy installation. Greg had to return one last time to fix something and while he was here, he installed at no cost the flow pipe which had just arrived in the mail. We're very picky and we highly, highly recommend Greg. He not only is super nice, he's also competent, reliable, affordable, and honest. read more

2 stars. It would have been 5 for his good knowledge, but Greg lacks the ability to call you when he says he will call you, and certainly never shows up when he says he will. I am grateful he did the work, but, man!!! He does not run his self-employed business the way I ran mine, when I was self-employed. I wish I could recommend him, but am not sure I can. I offered a very big project to Greg during the early December 2014 timeframe when it was raining like heck and cold outside and he had no one calling him for work. I gave him my 28' square barn which is dry, fairly warm and well lit, to work on a project that he promised would take a week. What spa repair man gets to work in such an environment? It was from December 7th to Dec 23rd, so I have plenty of experience dealing with him. I have an old Sundance Optima that is probably 1997-1998 vintage. It leaked so much-- and the frame was so rotted out, it should have gone to the trash heap. But I had customized it to a degree I was willing to try to fix it rather than buying another used hot tub for $2000 or so and then having to customize that. Greg inspected it and offered to "rebuild" it for "less than $1000" as he put it. I was very incredulous. This included undo-ing and re-gluing most jets (I thought it would be ALL jets, like he said, and like my written agreement said, but he just ended up doing the ones he thought would leak from experience), rebuilding the entire wood frame, and cutting new outside wall pieces from plywood. I had to paint, which including primer, took about 8 hours of my own time. Things started out dicey when he kept promising day after day for a coupla days, he'd get "some of his guys" to come help flip the spa and move it into the barn. Never happened. Why would any professional promise to flip over and move your spa unless they plan to comprehensively hire some people who can do it, and charge you for it as part of the contract? I said, screw it, and had my own friend, him and my automotive cherry picker an we got it raised onto dollies and we moved it into the barn where I, single handedly, flipped it using my huge automotive lift. This also took a couple of hours of my own time, not to mention having to bug a friend to come help. Then, Greg only shows up half the days he says he will and always hours late. Not on time once. Not once. He informs me the job will now cost more than $1000. I type up an agreement and ask him to sign it, stating it will not cost more than $1500 and will include all the things I mentioned. He needs payment on a regular basis, since business has been slow. I help him out by doing so. I even accidentally paid him $200 extra since the last several checks were $200 increments. I did not care, I wanted my spa back and when he was working, things seemed to actually get done. Once the tub was done, Greg checked it for leaks as per our agreement, for about an hour or so, and left. But the agreement was to also fix any other leaks that are found afterwards. I found several, a couple that resolved themselves, probably due to slight overfilling. One was an easy tightening of a air injector jet. But one was pretty major and did not show up until after the foam got soaked. He did fix that one, but as always, late in showing up, making planning for me and my family, difficult. After all this, I did some accounting and figured out I had overpaid him $200. I wrote him and told him it was no big deal, and he could keep it, since the actual work done was good. But.. I needed help with one final leak. I called and texted and called and texted about it all the way to December 30th. Sure, right after Xmas I can understand. But 5 days after? Only one text response: "I'll call you in a few minutes". That was yesterday. No call today. I dug into it and figured it out myself. It was a silly little O-ring on the diverter handle that he replaced himself with a used one. Luckily I had some I bought for the other diverter and once I installed the other two I bought, it cleaned itself up. Another thing that has a major impact is: Greg did not replace all the foam he removed from underneath and around all the pipes on the sides. He claimed the foam was not that important and all the heat is lost from the top. Wrong: My four 1-hour long heat cycles can now not keep up and the spa is a degree or two colder every morning. It went from 102, down to 92 in a few days. I checked with a thermometer, it is losing heat. I would need to run it on Standard mode all the time, spending 3-4X the money, to keep it hot. I have comprehensive PGE bills and Watt meter readings to back up my knowledge of this spa's usage. So had to drain the hot water completely, jack it up again, put it on jack stands, crawl under, and stuff the underside with fiberglass. Then removed each side panel and wrap pipes. All this would have been 10 times easier if the spa were still upside down. Then I had to re-heat 450 gallons of water. read more

I noticed that my spa was leaking so my next door neighbor tried to take the motor apart so we could check the seal. The last part was really difficult to take apart so we decided to take it to a small motor shop. I looked up "Hot Tub Repair" on Yelp and found Hydro Tech. We were planning on driving over to the address shown, but I decided to call first because it was late afternoon on Saturday. Greg answered and told me that he had another job and would come either Sunday or maybe later on Saturday. I didn't expect to hear that he would come to my place, but that was even better! It turned out that his job had been changed to Sunday, so he came to my house right away. He was very professional, knowledgeable about spa motors and friendly. He took the motor apart, replaced the seal (which he had with him), and filled the spa with water to test it and everything was great. Some of my screws that we used to replace the wood siding had rotted so he gave a bunch of his screws and a drill bit also! He recommended a stain that I could use to make the wood look better and I took his advice and it looks almost new again. For a house call, the time he spent and replacing the seal, I thought the price was extremely reasonable and I was pleasantly surprised. The next day (Sunday), I checked the temperature and discovered that the power on my breaker box wouldn't stay on. So, I called Greg and he came back to replace the heater element. He said that for some reason, heaters go out after there are issues with the water level or other issues that occur and it's very common. I've had my spa since 1999 and haven't had any problems with it, so it made sense that it needed to be replaced. He removed the heater element, tested it and confirmed that it was defective. He had the part in his truck and replaced it right away. Once again, his fee was very reasonable and response time was excellent. I highly recommend his work and have referred two of my friends to him. There is no reason to have a non-working spa in your yard. Give Greg a call and he will fix them for you! read more

We had another company come in and tell us that we needed to replace the motor then we had Greg come and give us a 2nd opinion. Good thing we did! My LifeSpa GFCI circuit was tripping off, and thought "here we go, the pump or heater needs to be replaced". Instead, I called Hydro Tech for help. Greg called me back the same day, and came out that day (on a Friday night!). He found the issue (just a couple wires too close together) after chasing it down - which involved a complete removal of all systems....which wasn't easy for him, yet, he persisted until he found it, even though it was getting dark....Such stellar tenacity and work ethic. Bottom line, he knows his craft very well, and his character is beyond impressive. You will not go wrong with someone like this who does their best, and gets the job done. We had a top rated yelp technician trying to solve a problem with our jacuzzi for almost a year (3 lines in display and jacuzzi not heating)!
