All that said, Steve was friendly, seemed honest enough and his pricing was moderately more competitive. We were not interested in a system that requires salt. This company provides a solution that's straight forward, low / no maintenance (it flushes itself) and will last a good amount of time hopefully. We moved forward with Steve. His son Dalton did the installation a week later. All went well with the installation. So far we have not used the system a great deal but we are encouraged by what we have noticed so far. It's a salt system intended to soften my water... and soften it has! Way too much! In fact I can never tell if soap/shampoo/laundry soap is off of me, out of my hair or off of my clothing. I've called Northeast to ask them about it, I've called Kinetico to ask them about it, both say use less soap. Great, well, any soap seems to stay, and, not only has it continually frizzed out my hair, leaving me to want to join the circus, but it's left soap residue on everything - friends and family that have stayed with me tell me sheets, towels make them itch. Rinsing and rinsing things out is a huge waste of water - a huge waste of water! I've been paying to go to the local pool to shower so I don't look like I've stuck my finger in an electrical socket. Believe me, I've waited to see if anything will change, perhaps it was too much salt, perhaps the system will change, perhaps the water will do some magic that I have yet to discover. I've asked for advise, I've asked god for help, I've wondered if I should pay a huge sum and get rid of this thing. I truly have come to hate this system, worse is, I feel stuck. I am glad that my family and I are still alive to post this review!…read more After opening the RO filter housings for routine maintenance, I found out that the original filters were still sealed inside their plastic wrapping. This means the filters were never actually filtering water from the time the system was installed. Leaving the filters wrapped completely defeats the purpose of the RO system and potentially exposes to untreated water while giving a false sense of safety. This is a serious installation error. Most customers would never think to open the housings to check, so this could easily go unnoticed until time for replacement. I have photo documentation clearly showing the filters still wrapped in plastic inside the housings. And Awni, I know what I am talking about.
