Our family's Ford Explorer required a water pump replacement. I visited several local auto shops to obtain quotes and was shocked, disappointed, and discouraged at the prices I was being quoted for the work my vehicle required ($5,000-$7,500) Shame on me for not reading Yelp reviews before wasting my time visiting other auto shops. I read the many positive reviews for Hye-Tech Auto Repair and decided to visit them. Upon entering, I was greeted by John (owner) with a friendly, "Welcome, how may I help you?" I explained that my Ford Explorer needed a new water pump and a few other items that other auto shops had advised me would require repair or replacement. While John looked up a few items on the computer to provide me with a quote, he introduced me to his son, Harry, who happened to be in the office. Thirty seconds later, John provided a quote that was $3,500-$4,000 less than the other shops. I could not believe it. John explained that he makes his living and succeeds in his business through repeat customers, and he does not believe in gouging customers for every last penny. He also shared that when he retires, his son Harry will take over the business, and he wants to leave Harry with a solid foundation of loyal repeat customers. It was then that I knew I could trust John and his son Harry. John went on to explain that replacing the water pump on a Ford Explorer was a 10-12 hour job, as it was an internal pump requiring numerous engine parts to be removed to reach it. This was the same thing all the other shops advised me. John suggested that I leave my vehicle, and he would perform a full inspection of the engine and contact me before doing anything to it. I agreed and left my vehicle. The following day, I was contacted by John, who advised me that the water pump did indeed need to be replaced, as it was the source of the constant leaks of the water coolant. I left my vehicle in John's shop for three days. During this time, John or his son, Harry, contacted me numerous times to keep me updated on the progress of my vehicle and also to point out that mechanics had discovered two or three very inexpensive items (under $50.00) which they recommended replacing, which I agreed to have done. All in all, I was and am extremely impressed and satisfied with everything about this shop. I spent much less money to have five different issues repaired on my vehicle at Hye-Tech than what I was quoted to replace my water pump alone by every single shop I visited prior to coming to Hye-Tech. John and Harry are very friendly, honest, and trustworthy. They are also very knowledgeable and experienced, and they offer GREAT customer service and communication. I opened a Yelp project to try to get my transmission serviced. The dealership wanted to charge me $1300 for this service. Yelp projects are one of the best things I've ever experienced. It's nice to see you can get quotes at the touch of a button on your phone. This morning, I had time off, so I headed in to get my service done. I did not have an appointment and that did not seem to matter. I arrived first thing in the morning at 8 AM and ask if the service could be done. Harry was an exceptional young man, he took me in with no problems, no questions. He said they could do it this morning. I told him I would have to wait. He had no problem with that either. Prior to bring in the car in this morning, as I said, I used a yelp project and had several people reach out and give me quotes. I've been once before and was satisfied. The young guy was easy to deal with. I returned to have my oil changed ,oil & filter and front headlight bulbs replaced. After I payed the old guy with glasses he begin to argue with me that the lights don't need to be aligned when I asked if he made sure they are level and not pointing every where? Telling me I'm getting upset for asking. I watched the youtube video but my hand is too big to fit to do myself. Don't believe videos he said. It's not a conspiracy ? Was told by an older man that the diagnostic would be FREE and that the car would be looked at and we would be given a call over the weekend. Monday 1/29/24 comes and we did not receive a call on how much longer this process would take so I advised him we go and see what's going on. So we get there around 3:30ish and are treated quite poorly unfortunately, a younger man working was abrasive due to "short handed staff" and pressed us about paying for $160 diagnostic fee! i stated the car model earlier because that model has a microchip and if you needed to know what was off with the car you just plug in this device under the steering wheel and in less than 1 minute you are given a print out that tells you what is wrong with the car. $160 dollars for less than a minute of work is insane let me state again that we were told this would be free when we first got here, they neglected to tell us that the diagnostic fee is free IFFF you give them your business. He was quoted $2400 to fix his car. We asked for copies of all the paperwork they did and we find out they ran the check and figured out the problem the same day at 1:00 pm AND FAILED TO CALL US. So we left the car there all weekend and missed work monday for n o t h i n g. we realized all too late that AutoZone down Azusa has this same device for the diagnostic check and does this process FOR FREEE we figured out it was the spark plugs and he was able to fix the issue himself for less than $200 This is my personal experience, you take from it what you will but beware of this place with all the 5 stars compared to our first experience here seems unreal. tech who printed out the diagnostic had the name JOHN unsure if that's who helped but that's what is printed on the paper. read more

When my 2016 Silverado engine bit the dust at 112,000 miles. Hye Tech was the only shop with great reviews. After talking to John about my options, I decided to replace the factory AFM engine with a Jasper NON AFM Remanufactured (not rebuilt) engine. This upgrade will remove the 4 cyl. disabling functionality that these engines have issues with causing the collapsible lifters to fail. They worked with Jasper to order the new engine, R&R my engine, and get my truck to basically new for 1/6th of the cost of replacing my truck with a new one. They were honest, and a pleasure to work with, didn't even charge me for the 500 mi. oil change to be in compliance with the engine warranty, and even replaced the engine mounts with free labor.
