So nice we had to go twice, or actually come to this one once and the one next door a different time. The place next door (which is what I'm assuming the other Yelp page for I Fratellini, not I 2 Fratellini) is the OG place and the place you can buy alcohol from. Yes, you can buy it from this side but only when the one next door is open. But I wasn't in need of alcohol at 10am so it was ok. We happened to stay at an Airbnb across the street (literally 5 steps away), which I was excited for because I had I Fratellini on my radar before I booked the place, so we were able to get a sandwich and come upstairs and eat it. The place next door opens later at around 11am but we were starving after we saw David. We were just going to head back to our apt but noticed that this one was open earlier. Turns out they do this on purpose to catch more business, which I think is pretty smart. The menu and food quality is exactly the same as next door. The people working were so friendly and nice. They helped us pick the perfect sandwiches. The case is so beautiful with all the sandwich fixings. We didn't have a line for this occasion but it goes by fast and the proximity of the buildings shields you from most of the sun and all that so there were no issues.
First Impressions: dunno how I missed this spot on yelp, but I ended up staying at the AirBnB across the street... came back from a shopping excursion, and saw a super long line, which piqued my interest The Noms: I got the #1 (prosciutto, cream cheese, arugula) and hubby got the #30 (roast turkey, tomato, salad). I love the crunchy crisp top of the bread and the ratio of meat/cheese to bread was perfect... but the cream cheese was waaaaay too much. I had to scrape it off. Hubby loved his dad which and said it was the best one he's had in all of Florence... I felt like the "roast turkey" resembled packaged deli meat more than roast turkey. In Conclusion: I much prefer the Marsala (speck, smoked provolone, honey) at the spot around the corner (In Vino Veritas) versus this spot or the very popular All'Antico Vinaio (whose sandwiches are very good but too heavy and too much)
If you're in Florence and looking for an easy and tasty sandwich while on the go, then Fratellini is the place to go. They have 2 locations (the second one is literally to the right of it) both are on a small side street near the shopping area. Both windows had 2-3 people behind the counter and can whip up was a bit undecided so they let me create my own. We both thought they were perfectly sized and tasted great. Highly recommend!
Solid sandwich! The bread is a little more dense for my liking, but still pretty good and quick / easy to eat. The sandwich was super affordable and ranged from 5-7 euros! I asked for a recommendation because I honestly didn't know what to choose and they recommended something with truffle cream. The truffle cream was perfect. It wasn't too truffle it but enough to make this sandwich well worth it. Got an aperol spritz to wash it all down as well. There isn't much seating; only two small tables set up, but there's plenty of seating spots around the block!
Yeah, the hype is real. Just a few blocks from El Duomo in the heart of Florence, your perfect lunch awaits. When the line is long, you know it's good! And this is for takeaway sandwiches only, so it moves fast. 30+ options for sandwiches and you can't go wrong with any. All are a simple 4 euro - cheap and delish! If you're hungry, id recommend splitting another one with a friend so you can taste more than one. We got the: - prosciutto, soft cheese and arugula - salami and cream cheese - pork and truffle cream and all were incredible. Grab a stool out front or find another spot with a view, and you've got the ideal lunch!
Counter-service sandwich spot that's not to be missed! Okay, yes, I made this place a destination because Conan went there on a remote segment, but it's genuinely amazing. I tried the ham, goat cheese and rocket salad panino, as well as the tuna, tomato and onion one. At 4€ each, you really cannot go wrong.
Came here to grab some sandwiches for lunch and there was a long line, but it was worth it and it went by quickly! Make sure that you look at their menu before getting to the front so that you don't hold up the line. I thought that the sandwiches was a perfect size for a midday lunch (considering I was having all three meals plus all of the gelato and pastries). It was the most affordable lunch that we had in the trip since the sandwiches were less than 5 euros!
definitely worth the hype! A hole in the wall find, standing tall since the 1800's. They have good vegan and vegetarian options. We ordered the vegetarian and tomato cream cheese panini with cheese and chilli!! Sipped them down with some chilled Prosecco! Both the paninis were amazing flavours. There is no seating space, so be prepared to sit on the street side while you eat or walk and eat! Loved the vibe, service and the food. Definitely recommend
I actually saw this place on a Rick Steve's episode on kpbs- it was only like a short segment, but I remembered it lol. When we arrived in Florence, we were hungry after we checked in our hotel and I had bookmarked this place on my maps. It was an 8 min walk and when we finally arrived we saw a long line. I hate lines but honestly the line moved really quick and it was worth it. It's a tiny shop.. actually it's not even a shop.. it's more like a stall in a wall. Three guys working- one taking orders and pouring wine, the other making the sandwiches, and the third drawing the customers in. Their menu is fairly long, but all good things! Great things actually! We asked for recommendations and I went with number 28 which had ham with truffle cheese spread and OMG this sandwich was to die for! (If you like truffle). This sandwich was so good and incredibly flavorful- I was in love! My husband ordered one of their other favorites which was prosciutto and something.... clearly I was distracted by my own sandwich lol. Amazing sandwiches and you can have a glass of wine in the alleyway- neat! Not expensive, super friendly, and they take credit cards!
Let the tourists go to that other panini place (not naming because they are good, but, ugh...those lines....not worth it when you can go here), those who know find this little gem tucked off Via dei Calzaiuoli on Via dei Cimatori. 4 euro for a big array of fresh, large panini, as well as wine in small and regular pours, ranging from 2-4 euro. It is a steal! Always friendly, fast and fun to hang and chat with folks. And they have shelves to place your wine on while you eat - practical and helpful! No seating but there is public seating a few steps away on the main pedestrian thoroughfare. They prove great things come in small storefronts ;)
I Fratellini is a small family-run Italian wine bar and sandwich shop that opened in Florence, Italy in 1875. The name translates to "The Little Brothers" in Italian, but the establishment is informally known as "I Due Fratellini" ("The Two Little Brothers") to the locals. This type of establishment is known as a "vinaino", which is a type of old-fashioned street wine vendor. At one time, Florence had several "vinaini" scattered around the city. Today there are only a handful of these traditional establishments left. The owners prepare delicious sandwiches that are made with fresh local ingredients from small Tuscan producers. My wife and I visited I Fratellini in July 2018 while we were honeymooning in Italy. During our stay in Florence, we decided to stop there for a quick lunch one day. We had heard about them in the Rick Steves' Italy guidebook. It is just a short walk away from Piazza della Signora and the Palazzo Vecchio. The space is so small that customers can't even actually go inside. There's a small entrance with a counter and behind it are a couple of workers, a small kitchen area and shelves filled with wine bottles. They had a menu posted which consisted of 30 different "panini" that only cost €4 each. My wife and I both decided to order the 'Panino of the Day': Burratina with fresh tomatoes and greens served on a ciabatta roll. It was out of this world! We each ordered a glass of Chianti to go with our panini and ate on the street with other customers. Long lines can form during the lunch rush, but the line moves very quickly. This is fast food Florentine style! When you're finished with your glass of wine, simply place it on one of the shelves that's mounted on the wall outside the entrance and then you can be on your way. Not only was our lunch fast and fresh, but also very cheap. We highly recommend this historic gem in the middle of one of Italy's most beautiful cities!
A great place for a quick lunch while exploring Florence. It doesn't look like much, but the sandwiches were delicious. They have wine by the glass. There was something charming about just standing outside the place enjoying our meal. They did a lovely gluten free version of their turkey sandwich with no bread for me - very accommodating to the special request - good service. Everyone else enjoyed the bread. We would definitely come back here again if we find ourselves in Florence.
This is the place for a delicious sandwich and a glass of really good Italian wine and yes you will just hang out on the sidewalk sip your wine and have a sandwich theres no seating area its just a walk up counter. When your done leave the wine glass on the shelf -see it on the wall there- this is a mid day snack place in Florence you need to visit. The price is very very reasonable.

Unlike many others yelpers, I was not aware of how famous this spot was until I was ready to type up my review. We ate here because we were hungry, it was cheap at 4 euros, there was no line and it seemed like they had a huge selection of sandwiches. I had the turkey and salad (#30) and at best it was bland. I requested mayo, which in my opinion saved the day. The turkey was good, but it was not a flavorful sandwich. Now, the bread was unique and I could've just had it alone. I am not saying that this was a bad place to eat at, but I do not agree with the fanfare. The sandwich artist was great, kind and had a huge smile; he truly looked happy doing his job. read more

Okay, I feel bad giving I Due Fratelli only three stars, but I was a bit underwhelmed considering all the hype. After the initial bites and me going, "ooh, this is good," I ended up thinking, "so this is it?" with more than half a sandwich to go. First of all, and maybe this is me being shy, but I initially wanted to ask the guys behind the counter for a recommendation I noticed from the people who ordered before me that they didn't interact a ton with the customers. They did, though, produce a sandwich very quickly. When it was my turn, after studying the menu very carefully while in line I decided to order the #4, which had roast pork ham (and I am leaving out a comma for a reason that I will explain below) and parsley sauce. My first impression of the sandwich was how warm and crusty the roll was. I love me a good piece of bread, and I Due Fratelli has fantastic bread to compliment their sandwich fillings. I also have to say the parsley sauce is very tasty. Very herby with possibly a bit of raw garlic in there to give it a bit of a kick. As for the meat, I expected a slice of porchetta and a slice of ham. Bite after bite I kept thinking that maybe the pork was on the bottom of the sandwich since I clearly saw and tasted a piece of ham. Finally, I opened up my sandwich and alas, there was no other piece of meat to be eaten. Perhaps this altered my opinion of the sandwich too much, but after finding this out I merely finished my sandwich out of obligation. So yes, I 2 Fratelli is cheap, has fantastic bread, and the parsley sauce is very flavorful. But I'd rather shell out two more euro for a panini from another place that has way more meat and fillings. Sorry, Florence. read more

Fabulous, literal "hole in the wall" sandwich shop. Twenty eight sandwiches on the menu. I have tried 6.... All delicious. Don't look for a place to sit, but you can have a glass of wine standing at the counter. All sandwiches are 3 euros. Find a great spot and have a picnic! read more

Right balance between price/quality/waiting/service. It's exactly what you aspect from that range of prices and it's enough to go ahead with your day without be hungry. There are too many god damn disgusting and dirty pigeons but it's not a business fault I guess... Anyway nothing special but a good compromise to have a cheap lunch and a glass of red wine without losing time with restaurants procedures. Go for it! Just remember it's a low budget food point. Don't be disappointed if at the end of your sandwich there is just...bread! ;) read more
Glad I was exploring!! I was hungry and walking around to see what's good in the piazza sangoria area. Everywhere had the same shit, then I stepped into this alley way and saw a line of people. For what? I observe for a bit and saw sandwiches, and there was a guy passing out the menu. I got in line and saw that a sandwich cost 2.50 euro! And it must be good to have a line of like 10+. So I decided to get the spicy salami and goat cheese. Very simple sandwiches, but it was good and sof fresh! They have a good selection. I wish I would have discover this sooner, it was my last day and only ate here once. read more

As soon as we landed in Firenze we were eager to grab some food and a glass of Chianti. During a Rick Steve's episode on Florence, Rick stopped by this small cubby of a wine and sandwich shop. It has been in operation for over four decades and it looked really cool so we decided to make it our first stop. It did not disappoint! The mozzarella and prosciutto sandwich was to die for. The Chianti reserva was out of this world. The guys are super friendly, speak great English and have a great story. They even make a cameo in a hilarious Conan O'Brien skit. Inspire of all of their fame, there wasn't a wait. A definite stop when in Firenze. read more

A great little wine & sandwich shop near Saint Michele church. This place has been around since 1875. They have wine and really great little sandwiches. The Italian bread was yummy. It's a stand and eat place. When your done with your wine you place on the rack. A really great find. Wish I would have found it before my last day or I would have gone again. read more

So this place was not difficult to find at all, it's a little bit off the Main Street of shopping, a hole in the wall is the perfect description to how it looks. When it comes to service, they were very kind and the people can speak at least 3 languages seeing as how I opened up with "bueno cera!" Changed to English midway, then finished asking if he spoke Spanish (which he did). The food was fresh. No other way to describe it. They cut the meat for your sandwiches almost in front of you, deli thin, and the bread for the panini was freshly baked. The only qualm I had was that there are no special orders allowed, what you see on the menu, is what you get. But other than that. This place is a definite check out if you're around for a bite to eat. The price is killer too, €3.5 euros for a roast beef and cheese panini? And a euro extra for a glass of very nice house wine? Loved this little hole in the wall sandwich shop. Got the porchetta, which was ok, but the ambiance was everything. Grabbed my sandwich and wine and sat on the curb to people watch. This place seemed really popular with tourists and locals alike. Good pricing and would recommend for a quick bite. read more
Incredible value for a cheap lunch spot in Florence. The sandwiches at Fratellini are simple yet well thought out with high quality ingredients. The meats are all very fresh and flavorful. The veggies are also fresh and good quality. There are around 50 different options of sandwiches, I wish I had the opportunity to try more. read more
Some times you just need a sandwich Ever been in a place that has the most decadent, amazing (read: heavy) food? You think you can go on like this forever, but you can't friend you're only human. Sometimes you need a light lunch that wont break the bank (Firenze isn't exactly a cheap city). Enter the answer to your prayers, the local sandwich stand. The guy hawking sandwiches at Fratellini was basically operating a bodega deli counter minus the rest of the bodega; e.g., no chill cat or smokes, but you can get some booze if so inclined...win win. They had a pretty solid line up of sandwiches engraved on a board, which of course means that they know what they are doing, and you're not asking for a custom combo (like, you can, but why mess with perfection?). My girlfriend got the wild boar (this place is in the boar capital of the world after all), and I got some Tuna, because mind your own business that's why. The boar was perfect, and the tuna was absolutely fantastic, no mayo, fresh olive oil and Verde sauce. If you're looking for an escape from pasta (blasphemy, I know), this place won't leave you feeling like you just went a few rounds at Becco in either the waste line or the wallet. read more

The. Best. Paninis. Off the road. At the best price you can find in Florence. Do the prosciutto, cream cheese and rucola panini - you will not be disappointed. You also get small glasses of wine at an amazing 2-3€ per glass! read more

Easily one of the best sandwiches I've ever had. This is a small shop with just two guys working so it's super charming. Came here on a busy Sunday afternoon and there was a little bit of a wait but they passed out menus in line which made ordering quicker. Tried #15 which is a salami with cream cheese and fennel and OMG--so simple but so delicious! Also had a glass of their red wine because...when in Italy, right? Overall very impressed with the the efficiency of the staff and the food itself. Would recommend and will return! read more

We were just walking in the area and noticed All the reviews so we thought we'd give it a go. I had the first sandwich on the menu- ham and goat cheese, it was so good! The freshness of the buns is to die for and its so impressive that it's just a hole in the wall- literally. My boyfriend has a vegetarian sandwich and he also liked it. For 3 euro you can't go wrong but old even pay more for what we got! read more

Located in the heart of the shopping district in Florence near all the busy museums and large church's offers the best inexpensive sandwich in town with great taste. The owner himself works there all the time he is fifth generation family operator since 1875 offering the best customer service you deserve. I asked for a regular ham and cheese sandwich I end up getting a second one with mozzarella cheese and tomato it's delicious. Look him up if you're in Florence Italy it's worth the experience. read more

I had some amazing meals while exploring Florence but sometimes you just need a simple lunch that won't kill your budget. Enter Fratellini for a perfectly sized, simple sandwich with a huge array of options for you to hungrily munch on after only spending 4 euro. Sign me up! You can almost miss the small store front. The space is only about 4 humans wide and one person deep. The menu is anything from ham and cheese, tuna, porchetta or cheese and butter. They keep it simple and delicious. I had to grab porchetta since I so rarely have a chance to eat it and it did not disappoint in the slightest. It was hot, chunky slices of pork layered in a fabulously crunchy roll. My boyfriend got a tuna sandwich which was mixed with oil and verde sauce. I don't like tuna but he said it was amazing. When in a foreign country, you need to find a few cheap meals that are golden for a quick meal. If you're in Florence, this should be one of them. You can even grab a glass of wine for a few extra euros. Not a bad deal in the slightest! read more

Really great sandwiches for 4€. I had the cream cheese (other reviews say it's goat cheese, but the menu says cream cheese), ham, and arugula (#1). It was so good on crispy, fresh bread. I paired it with a gewurtztraminer that you can drink right at the food counter. I also had the roast pork ham and truffle cream which was also really yummy. Great stop on the way to the Duomo! The guy at the counter was also really friendly and offered to take pictures with and of me. read more
