This is the place where I ordered my first vermentino of my life and have forever changed since. I thought I was just a sauvignon blanc girlie but I think I love vermentino more. I didn't get a chance to take a photo of the mussels we ordered but both the mussels and the spaghetti alle vongole (Spaghetti with Clams) were so tasty. Met some new friends from England while were were here that's from similar area as my partner's ancestors... The service was amazing, the restrooms were clean. Definitely a nice pitstop before moving on to sightseeing near the Duomo for the evening. Really love their seafood dishes that we tried. I thought they were very reasonably priced but maybe it's because I'm from a landlocked state. :) read more

Very cozy little spot right near the Duomo. I ordered the ravioli and a glass of vermentino, a white grape local to Tuscany. They were both wonderful and just what I needed as a first meal in Florence. The service was welcoming and I didn't real rushed through my dinner at all. Would recommend! read more

Ambiance =10 AC= !!!! 10 (it was 100+ outside) Bathrooms= beautiful 10! Eggplant app =12/10!!!! The rest was ok.... Wanted a glass of rose, not on menu for glasses, but small 1/2 bottles exist but not on menu.... Open during the quiet time when most others are closed so that's a plus for jet lagged Americans. We decided to stop at this restaurant on a whim. Wow! We were blown away by the food and service. We started with the bruschetta, which was served with fresh tomatoes, olives and arugula. It was delicious and so light! We also ordered wine. We got the Rosso di Montalcino 2024 and it was definitely one of the best glasses of wine I ever had. The steak we had was also amazing. It was tender and so flavorful. The potatoes were also fantastic! At the end of the meal, we had Vin Santo (dessert wine that you dip biscotti in). Very delicious, but very strong. Lastly, the server (maybe manager or owner) brought us out complimentary limoncello. It was also delicious. We definitely had to walk (or try to walk) it off after all that! I can't say enough about the food and service. We went to another steak place a few days before at Trattoria Dalloste. It was a couple of doors away from this place. The service and food didn't even compare to this place. We spent a lot more money for rubbery and fatty steak. They also tried to overcharge us. So, do yourself a favor and try La Cantinetta Osteria con Cucina. You won't be disappointed! If we ever go back to Firenze, we would go back to this restaurant in a heartbeat. read more

Dining for 1 on solo travels is only awkward when couples stare at you. But that also means more about them than you. I walked by this place after making a birthday reservation for the top 101 steakhouse in the world. This place is known for seafood pasta. Server told me it was spicy but it was not. It was flavorful though. My rose Prosecco went well with it. I love the peace that they don't come back to check in on you. Once you get your food, you can enjoy until you flag them for your bill. Was really good. I had the seafood pasta and it was absolutely amazing. The only thing that would have been better was if there was sufficient air conditioning. It was August, I had dinner at 8pm and it was blazing hot, even inside, which made it hard to enjoy my food because I was dying inside (too hot). Friendly service, clean, inviting ambiance. It's a busy place and understandably so. Great friendly service, carbonara and ravioli were so good! I'd recommend making a reservation if it's later in the evening. Early evening, no problem. Ask for the house wine. The octopus salad was plentiful and came perfectly flavored with lemon and olive oil, which is important to know since all the salads we ordered in Italy came without anything on it and needed to ask for oil and vinegar which then the restaurant charges you per person. read more

Finally.. 20 days into being in Italy and Greece.. I finally had dish that made me in food heaven.. Read some good reviews of this place so I decided to try it out. Very friendly staff and the price was very reasonable. Ordered mixed salad and caprese salad. Five euro for huge mixed salad. And so far best caprese salad I ever had. Ordered lasagna and linguini allo scoglio aka linguini frutti di mare. And can I say OMG best seafood linguini I've ever had. I've been waiting for this moment since I've been on Vaca .. I had to have moment of silence to indulge the flavor of this dish... I enjoyed every last bite of it.. Only thing negative is that mussels weren't as fresh and tasty as ones I've had in Naples. Lasagna was also one of the best I've had at a restaurant. Over all I was very happy I came here. Service was great and food was amazing.. When we arrived, there was only one server and he was running around getting orders and pouring wine and picking up dishes from the kitchen, it was almost hilarious except he was very experienced at his job that I liked him instantly. One of the best authentic Italian meals we had during our 9 days in Italy. The lasagna was unforgettable rich, flavorful, and perfectly cooked. Touristy place with very good food with a limited wine list. Limited menu but a varied choice of options one would expect at an Italian restaurant. My wife and I love pasta, but can't eat it every night. So this review is about the seafood. Our server was very personable and made some nice recommendations. We started with octopus salad. This was recommended by our server and a great suggestion. Picture included. I had the whole sea bass expertly filleted at our table by our server. Well-seasoned and perfectly grilled. My wife had the grilled tuna steak. It was supposed to be rare but she still enjoyed it despite not being pink in the middle. I only bring up the music because I'm in historic Florence and want the Florence vibe. There is actually a Hard Rock Cafe within steps of this restaurant if that's what I wanted. The background music was a series of songs from the 60's, think Beatles, 70's, Bee Gees and Led Zeppelin, and 80's, Blind Melon. All the songs were either English or American bands and of the songs were after the 80's. read more

Was hungry after visiting the Duomo, and this restaurant was really conveniently located with a decent number of tables indoors. If you are craving a little bit of seafood, I think this spot could be great for it. I ordered the seafood spaghetti after seeing all the Yelp reviews, and it was well worth it! This was our favorite meal in Florence. We enjoyed it so much we came here twice on a 3 day stay. All of the food was fresh and made to order. The waiter is pretty much a one man show waiting on the entire restaurant and paying out tabs. It is also very affordable. I am glad we stumbled upon this gem. read more

This was overall the worst restaurant experience in all of Italy. To start, the door did not open because it was jammed shut. After 3 minutes or so, a staff member came to open it. We were seated by the front door for dinner. During our stay, the front door was opened and shut (uneasily, loudly, annoyingly) multiple times (at least 20 times) which shuck the table and entire front glass window and door. This also brought in cold air. Food wise, the Tuscany starter appetizer was absolutely awful. One of the bread items had a foul smell to it and tasted bad. The service was few and far between until we received our meal. The only good thing was our wine which was bottled and not created by this restaurant. Would not recommend you try while on your beautiful holiday. read more

This place probably has the best value meal during our entire stay in Florence. Small price for decent food in large portions, recommended if you're worrying falling into tourist traps. Went there for a late lunch at 2:30, the place was not super busy at that time. We ordered a caprese salad and a plate of truffle pasta to share for two of us. Everything came in HUGE portion (psst...pretty much the food size you'd expect in North America!) and they were definitely enough to feed us full...and satisfied. Yes, though each plate cost less than 10 euros, the flavor was pretty decent. Truffle pasta was especially neat, the amount of salt was just right that the flavor of noodle was enhanced, but the taste of truffle didn't get overpowered at all. read more

Saturday night dinner, very small restaurant but super crowded so we took that as a good sign. Upon entering there is a carving station and small area of refrigerated cheeses. Bruschetta al Pecorino e Tartufo Nero Bruschetta with Pecorino Cheese and Black Truffle Bruschetta had a nutty pecorino on top of crusty Italian bread with black truffle spread. Really great starter. Pici alla Fiaccheraia con Ricotta Salata Home Made Spaghetti with Bacon, Garlic, Hot Pepper and Salty Ricotta Cheese 8.50 € No flavor and too al dente. Looking back it was the worst pasta I had in my 9 days in Italy. Ravioli di Ricotta e Spinaci ai Funghi Porcini Ricotta Cheese and Spinach Ravioli with Wild Porcini Mushrooms Sauce 9.00 € Really delicious, earthy and silky pasta. Wine by the glass was on the pricier side at €9 for Brunello and €7 for Chianti, pours were a little short. Service was consistent so no complaints. read more

First time I've taken the time to review a restaurant. This Was without a doubt the best Italian dish I've ever eaten. I chose the seafood spaghetti and the amount of perfectly cooked seafood did not disappoint. The pasta and sauce were delicious as well. My wife had the truffle pasta and was thrilled It's typical for us to split a dish these days as we watch our portions, but tonight we each order our own and figured we eat the leftovers for lunch the next day. Both of us finished our entire meal. Hats off to the chef and the staff. One thing they could do better. Change the music. The Italians eat dinner much later than us but even by that standard this place stays open longer than the other restaurants in the area. It was almost 11:30 pm when we got there and they still served us. We had a bottle of Ruffino IL Leo chianti and an appetizer of Carpaccio mozzarella and tomato. I had the Tagliatelle with black truffle in Olive oil and my girl had the Florentine steak. The food was delicious and not pricey at all. The pasta was just the right portion for such a late meal. Actually, I've come to realize that wine and grub, especially pasta, in Florence is much cheaper than in California and the quality is much better. Cheap, reasonable place for dinner after visiting the Duomo, as it is only a short walk away. When we arrived, the place was empty other than one person, but as we ate, the place filled up quick and was soon busting with people (but not crowded), mostly locals. The caprese salad had fresh mozzarella and tomatoes, which was extremely good together, although the balsamic provided was not very good. They also offer a deal; 16€ (i believe) for two courses. Two members of my family ordered this. One got seafood risotto and stewed beef, and the other got lasagna and chicken. The risotto was drier than most risottos but still pretty good, and the stewed beef was flavourful and tender. Chicken was a bit dry but still good with balsamic. Another deal offered for 23€ (once again not sure on prices) was for bruschetta with duck liver pate and steak. The steak was cooked as we ordered (medium rare), flavourful, and tender. The duck liver pate was well done as well. The desserts, tiramisu and ricotta with caramel and chocolate, were very good. The tiramisu tasted light yet the coffee was strong, and the ricotta was fresh and went well with the toppings. Overall, this is a good, decent, and affordable place to drop in for dinner/lunch when you're visiting the Duomo. read more

Giving it five stars for the value. Fantastic pasta for a very good price. I had the fettuccine with wild boar sauce and my wife had a spaghetti with garlic, cheese, and bacon. I thought they were both great. Our bruschetta with black truffles was also excellent. Lastly, the house wine was very good, and quite a deal for 4 Euros. Great restaurant for traditional tuscan dinner! We came here for a relaxing dinner (without reservations - had no problem getting seated!) and it was exactly what we were looking for! We ordered the bruschetta, a Caprese salad, pesto pasta, and gnocchi with fresh tomatoes. Everything was delicious! We had indicated that we were planning to share all of the dishes and the kitchen kindly split everything for us! The pesto pasta was awesome! The gnocchi was heavenly and like a little pillow - perfectly cooked and the tomatoes were abundant (#nevertoomanytomatoes!) We sat inside, which was really much larger than I had thought when we walked past at first! The atmosphere is somewhat intimate, since there are so many cute corners, the decor (displayed wine bottles and sign-age) was cute too! In a sea of cookie-cutter restaurants, our visit to La Cantinetta Osteria con Cucina was an oasis of pleasure. We ended up getting an assortment of appetizers that we ate family-style, and it ended up being a perfect lunch for a wonderful day in Florence. The staff were cheerful and responsive to our needs, and there were enough locals eating there to suggest that the meal we were enjoying was a bit more authentic than some of the neighboring tourist fare. read more

Fantastic restaurant in the heart of Florence. While we were what seemed like the only tourists at this local haunt in the heart of the city, we were treated warmly. The food was excellent - try the steak with green pepper sauce, it was perfectly cooked and the flavors were exceptional.
