Best bbq we have found in a long time. Chopped pork, beef brisket and pork ribs were all perfectly seasoned and perfectly cooked. The sauces to enhance the meat were spot-on in flavor and heat. The cole slaw was creamy and helpful to cool down my mouth. The grits were also creamy and delicious... just like my grandma would have made if she made grits. Eat here. We went on a Tuesday night after getting a 2 1/2 hour wait at a restaurant in Brownwood. Glad we did. Spent half of what we would have. Food was great. No way we could finish everything! Beef brisket and pulled pork dinners. Corn bread was very good. Had Mac& cheese, fried green tomatoes, baked beans, and potato salad. All very good. This is the best BBQ I have had in years. It is the real deal. Cooked over real wood and has just a hint of that smokey flavor I love. No need for any sauce it is good just off the pit. I had the pleasure of eating here this week. My co-workers rave about how authentic the bbq is so I had to give it a try. I had the chopped pork sandwich w/ fries and the pork was cooked to perfection and the sauces were a nice touch as well. My only complaint is they didn't season my fries but that's just preference. We went there today for the third times since it opened. The first time was good, the second time was not good. With that in mind we have not visited for over a year. Decided to have lunch there today. Won't do it again. The place is dirty, the windows are dirty, the walls are dirty. I know it is a casual BBQ place but there is no excuse for being dirty. I ordered the BBQ chicken White meat for lunch. It came with 2 sides for $11.99. I expected a full breast but instead I got 1/2 a breast, 1/2 a back and a wing. In all my years of eating out I have never been served a chicken back in a restaurant. The chicken was cooked well but the apples were over cooked and over seasoned with cloves. Service was slow and inaccurate. I ordered tea with lemon, which was right on the ticket, and I never got the lemon. This is the third and last time I will eat there. Not my type of place. read more

We were visiting some friends in the Villages and they suggested this place. The reviews were good, so I said ok. The Ribs had just the right amount of smoke for my tastebuds. The sauce is served on the side with several choices. I like sweet cornbread and that's what they serve. For my side dishes I had mac and cheese and onion rings, both were very good. The onion rings was served with a buttermilk ranch dressing on the side which was excellent. My wife had a salad with brisket on top and loved it. The Sweet Potato Pie for dessert was outstanding. Unassuming exterior but food inside is very good. Had gone for lunch with a ladies group and everyone seemed to have enjoyed their food. I tried the spare rib lunch basket which was served with cornbread and two sides. I chose collards and fried green tomatoes. Everything was yummy! This place was phenomenal! I took my grandmother here and she absolutely loved it! Huge portions, quick service, great prices, great homemade side dishes (we got apples and baked beans that were to die for), and a unique experience. OK, my 5 star rating is relative. This is not a 5-star restaurant in the absolute sense, but a rating that is relative to the genre, the type of place and the geographical area. First of all, it's not a fancy or large place. It's a small re-purposed and redone ex-old diner in a nondescript part of central Fl that is part rural/small towns and part retirement communities, the biggest, of course, being the Villages. We were in this part of the world and wanted bbq, because, well, there is supposed to be a lot of good bbq in the south, and there is certainly no shortage of bbq places here. I've tried several, but this place is the best of them all. These people know what they are doing. The meat is slow-smoked perfection, with generous portions. Fantastic pulled pork, ribs, chicken, brisket, etc. I pity vegetarians because of this place. The sides are fantastic too, with great greens, mac and cheese, beans, etc. The prices are very reasonable, and the staff is super friendly and nice. They even gave us an extra mac and cheese free of charge because they saw how much my daughter loved it. I just wish these people were in the SoCal area, because bbq is mostly overpriced and mediocre here. These people are great candidates for "Diners, Drive-ins and Dives," which we told our friendly and animated waitress--she and this place are ready for prime time. Drove up from Tampa today on business. Used to come to this location when it was called Dinner Bell years ago, when the main attraction was jumbo fried shrimp. Glad we tried it and glad these folks opened this place. This is a family affair. Local's to this area, husband bar-b-que's the meats wife supervises the kitchen. We got the three meat combo w/ 2 sides (double brisket & chicken, cause we don't like pork but were told from another patron it's the best), so we were able to try the fresh (not canned or frozen) green beans, fried okra, fried green tomatoes (don't miss this one), Mac N Cheese (old fashion way, baked with real cheese, Not Kraft), corn bread with melt in your mouth brisket & perfectly barbecued (not smoked) chicken. Four sauces to choose from, but hands down my favorite was the spicy mustard sauce that lingered but not too hot & a big ole glass of fresh brewed ice tea. I was so full from sampling all of the sides, that I barely made it to the meats that I'm looking forward to having for dinner tonight. We've tried all of the bar-b-que places in the Leesburg area & I can attest no other place comes close & can't think of any in Tampa that is this good. You will not be disappointed. read more

OK, I find it difficult to believe some Bbq ratings because everybodies expectations for good BBQ are different. Also, I don't give out 4 star reviews lightly, but this is a special case. When you pull up to this place you immediately think, this place is a full on dive. Small parking lot and they use big window chalk writing that makes it look like an abandoned 90s diner. When you walk in you definitely get some older decor, but with a very familiar family feel. The menu is short, which in my book means they do less than other BBQ places, but they do it better. That instinct was correct. I got a basket so I could sample 3 meats. The ribs were the perfect balance between tender, and chewy. They didn't fall off the bone, but they were still super tender. They also had a char on them that added a great added depth of smoke. They didn't have baby back ribs, which is a little disappointing, but I can't fault them for that because the spare ribs were still incredible. Next was the pulled pork, which is always my go to. Juicy, not super stringy, almost more chopped than pulled but amazing flavor, and again, the char bits that were mixed in just made the dish. Lastly of the meats was the smoked sausage. Awesome skin, great smoke flavor and just the right amount of spice. Their BBQ sauces were all pretty great, their base sauce had a little spice and sweetness and that's what I used on all of my food. They had a hotter one that was good, but I didn't think it was necessary. Their sides is why I gave it a 4 and not a 5. Their coleslaw was super sugary and so were their beans. Almost candy sweet. Their mac and cheese was grainy, almost like they didn't use enough fat or didn't cook the roux long enough and the flour is still uncooked. The corn bread was OK, but nothing amazing about it. Same with the onion rings, good but nothing crazy. While it had a few downfalls, this place is a home run and if your in town and want to try a local BBQ joint, this should be on your list. read more

We recently ate here on a Saturday night after helping my parents move into their new house in the middle of our hotter-than-usual late-June heat wave. We were starving, so to be fair, we probably would have devoured anything put in front of us. Either way, the food here was amazing! I had the two meat combo with beef brisket, smoked sausage, baked beans, mac-n-cheese, and corn bread. The brisket was excellent, not too dry and not too fatty with a good smokey flavor. The mac-n-cheese was the best I've had in a long time (I will be getting a full pint of it next time!) Both my sausage and baked beans were good, no complaints with either. They have several sauces on the table for you to choose from. I mostly just used their sweet sauce and it was excellent. My wife had the burger with fries & my daughter had the chicken strips & fries off the kids menu. Both were happy with their food (good portion of chicken strips considering it was the kids menu, I tasted one and I thought they were good as well), as was the rest of the table. No one in our party of 8 had any complaints about the food. Also, my sweet tea was really good if that is your sort of thing. My three suggestions for improvement going forward (but don't make a lot of changes because why change a good thing), 1: add some pulled pork or brisket to the baked beans to give them extra flavor, 2: offer dinner rolls or biscuits as a substitute for the corn bread, and 3: Get a tune up on the AC in the back because this is Florida and it was a bit hot inside. The only reason I gave it a one-star was because of the side of hair I received with my order along with some attitude for dessert! In any event, this place came highly recommended from a local I met as a newbie to the area. The food was great, the service could have been a little better but I understand it was lunch time. Ordered the catfish lunch meal and the rib tip special. Catfish came with a side of hair mixed in with the breading! Brought this to their attention, no apology, no offer of refund... Just cook another order? I think the proper thing to do would have been to offer a refund and another meal in an attempt to maintain the business and good relations, but maybe I'm just weird like that? Once again, the food was great but no one wears hair nets and or beard nets, thus explaining the hair in my food! FYI.. I let them keep the second order.
