Visiting The Brick and Barrel Public House in Leesburg, FL reminded me of my recent trip to Scotland. They offered a full service bar with a wide variety of food. It felt like stepping back in time. If you want a nice quiet afternoon, go to Leesburg. Walk the quiet streets of this lazy town, and visit this pub. People go and stay for hours and no one rushes you. I met a friend here. We enjoyed a nice meal and had a nice quiet place to sit, talk and catch up on each other's lives. The food was very "English." We split a gigantic pretzel and fish and chips. Had we both ordered our own, it would have been too much food. The waitress was very accommodating. She didn't rush us and was there whenever we needed anything. Although we stayed for about 2 hours, other customers were there longer than us! I definitely will return. It is about and hours drive from Orlando, yet a stark contrast. read more

Service was good. Almost every beer tap was out. Wine selection is pretty low end wines. The pretzel was good. Really crisp on outside and warm and soft inside. Perfect. Cheese sauce for pretzel was good. Ordered a burger and asked for medium. The bun bottom was soaked and wet in blood so I knew it had to be undercooked for sure. It was extremely rare. I didn't want to send back so I ate the outer parts of the burger but it really wasn't good. Fries are good. Not those breaded seasoned deep fried things everyone is going to. They were like a nice normal steak fry with salt and pepper. There were so many of those tiny gnats or fruit flies everywhere also. They got in our drinks and our food. It was annoying. Visitors to the town of Leesburg, Florida, we were happy to find The Brick and Barrel where dogs were allowed. Although outside dinning was available, the weather wasn't conducive. The restaurant is a bit nostalgic with photos of past decades. While one long room serves meals and seconds as a bar, an adjacent room has a billard table with a live band, which is open late on weekends. The Simply Grilled Mahi Sandwich was nicely prepared, as was the B&B Cheeseburger with Bacon. When it came to dessert, our waitress suggested the Cinnamon Churro Donuts, which were slightly sinful, but greatly delicious. read more

This was our first visit to Brick & Barrel. So glad we went! We ordered a couple of drinks and three different appetizers. The drinks were good and each appetizer was fantastic. Our server was Sam, she was exceptional. Prices were reasonable. Nice atmosphere. We will definitely be back. read more

Party of six for dinner on a Saturday around 6 p.m. We all ordered different entrées--flatbread, ribeye, sirloin, pineapple chicken, ribs, burger, and drinks. The ribeye could have used a bit more salt in my opinion, and the red mashed potatoes were on the sweet side, which was a little unusual. We chose this restaurant because they had outdoor seating and we had our dog with us and wanted a burger. The waitress came out with menus and tossed them on the sticky table with no intention of wiping it down. She brought our burgers, we asked for mustard, the bottle she brought might as well have been empty, but the ketchup that was on the table was brand new and still had the seal. The chips were good. The burgers had no seasoning at all and was preformed, frozen and tasteless and a little overcooked. Our waitress never came back out to see if everything was ok or if we needed anything...like salt! She never brought our check so my husband went inside, which was empty, and all she said was "$32.50". There are a lot of other restaurants to choose from in that same area. We definitely won't be back for a less than mediocre burger and service. Downtown Leesburg is a cool old town. read more

The place is very inviting. Unfinished ceilings with exposed ventilation ducts, along with strings of white lights. A long bar was full of patrons enjoying the various brews. Our server was attentive and friendly. One particularly loud customer made for a slightly less enjoyable meal. My fish sandwich was very good. My only complaint: it was small. Wife's meal, a Chipotle chicken sandwich was also small. Both came with a handful of greens. Bottom line: I enjoyed our visit. Fun little place in downtown Leesburg. We were down in the area and came across tis place to grab a bite. It was the day before the Leesburg Motorcycle Fest was coming into town. We sat outside and was watching a lot of the bikers already coming into town. Our server was very pleasant and engaging. They had a good beer menu. Ordered a blueberry ale which was very good. This isn't your average bar and grill... the menu has a great variety of choices with dishes that each have their own uniqueness. We started with the fried mozzarella moons and although they are a bit pricey, they were very good. The marinara! Definitely homemade! For our meals: the fish and chips: The fish is excellent. The beer batter is nice and crispy with nice flaky fish inside. The tartar sauce was very good. Not overpowering, but has a wonderful flavor. The seasoned fries were cooked perfectly. This was all complimented by a not too sweet or too tangy coleslaw. All together, I would say it was a very classic fish and chips dinner made with care. The Cuban sandwich was just as delightful. I had a brown sugar old fashioned that tasted like Christmas. Service and ambiance is excellent. We will be back!! read more

The food here is mediocre. It doesn't taste bad, but for the prices it's not impressive or good either. I got the pineapple chicken which was marked as a favorite. It was dry and just not that great. The rice tasted like it was premade from a package. The grilled pineapples were good and a nice touch. The brussel sprouts had good flavor, but need to be cooked a little longer. For crispy sprouts they were quite soft and small compared to most sprouts. The servers were nice but I found myself spending quite a bit of time waiting to be greeted, waiting to place my order and for my check. Ambiance is the best part of the experience. Cute place well laid out, indoor and outdoor seating. The looks and ambiance gave me hope the place would be better than it was. I hope they can sort out some of the food quality as it is a promising location. read more

Ordered online for delivery. Took over 3 hours with 2 phone calls before received order. When order came the order was not correct. Ordered 2 orders of fire cracker shrimp tacos and a cheesecake. Received fire cracker appetizer and a piece of cheesecake. Called a 3rd time to let them know. Was to receive refund and only refund was for the cheesecake for $11.99 which was the only thing correct in the order. Terrible Experience! We had a reservation for a large party, which they assured us they do all the time. It took 1/2 hour to get our drinks and 2 1/2 hours to get our food. Several tables were served at the hour and 45 minute mark and the rest of the party had to wait the 2 1/2 hours for their food. The food was just marginal!! The manager was notified several times of the issues and never addressed the issues. He avoided us! I will never visit or recommend this restaurant again. read more

Passing through Leesburg at dinner time and this place had a nice menu, GREAT pics, and decent reviews. I went with the surf & turf. Asked for the filet Medium. Shrimp were barely seasoned and I had to tear them apart to get them off the skewer. If it was a filet, it was extra well done, it was more like a baseball sirloin butterflied and grilled beyond well done. The "crispy" brussels were not crispy at all, just soft and drowned in glaze, that wasn't very good. Service was good. They up charge you if you pay by card. read more

The young woman behind the bar informed us that she would not honor our Craftapped offer for a free pint with food purchase. Even after I showed her the offer. I am including an image of the offer. We eat outside. Nice quiet evening, no mosquitoes. Our waitress was wonderful. We have four people and 3 of us decided on jalapeño burgers, two with seasoned fries and one with greens, the greens had a lemon vinaigrette my son said it was delicious. The other got a chicken burger with sweet potato fries. My son ordered a strawberry lemonade which was not on the menu but the waitress said she could make it for him so we all changed our order. When she brought the drinks out she brought us a pitcher of it along with our cups full. We ended up drinking it all. We have had the fish and chips in 2 separate occasions and were consistently good. The second time we were there was a Friday night, service slow, not all that busy, but were out of so many offerings on the bar. The server was great, but spread a little too thin. We will definitely return, but keep our visits to a week night. The dining area is definitely casual, not a date night place, but did not check out the bar scene, where they definitely had music. read more

The atmosphere at Brick & Barrel atmosphere is very nice, Service was very good, with attentive and friendly staff. I ordered their highly recommended Fish & Chips, which had a good presentation. Unfortunately, the dish itself was a major disappointment. The fish was almost entirely breading, with a small amount of fish inside that was mushy and undercooked. It was, quite honestly, the worst fish I've ever had and a very bad choice. While the ambiance and service were great, the poor quality of the food makes it hard to recommend this dish--or the restaurant overall. read more

This was my first time trying The Brick & Barrel thanks to an invite from our friends, and I know that I'll be back soon for another great experience! David, our waiter was very good at his job. David made sure that we were good the entire evening, starting with finding a few Stella's although they weren't on the drink menu. I ordered the Bourbon Glazed Salmon and Brussels Sprouts. The salmon was cooked perfectly, a nice sear on the outside yet moist and flaky on the inside. The Brussels sprouts was without a doubt the best thing that was served at our table. They were professionally charred which lent itself to be a bit bitter but the bourbon glaze from the salmon smoothed the entire dish out. I'm guessing I'll try something different when I go back but I'll be ordering the salmon to go. I hope to see you at The Brick and Barrel soon. read more

I'm glad we got here at a fairly early hour, because the joint was already hopping. Our dear barkeep Michelle quickly showed up when we sat down...if only because we sat in a spot where there were dirty dishes, etc. She asked whether we want food menus and anything to drink...yes to both. So she left us to our own devices for the next EIGHT minutes before we even get our drinks, never mind a menu...probably ONLY because she saw me tapping my fingers. However, as soon as she got to us she immediately said "1st round in the house; sorry guys!" That was a class move; to be fair, she's working the bar by herself and it was well near full. Anyway, we started with fried mushrooms, which are supposedly fried in Yuengling batter with house-made ranch on the side. We got choice of ranch or chipotle ranch, so we got one of each. Well twenty five minutes later, they FINALLY show up. Michelle had to remind them to drop the 'shrooms. Meanwhile, at 5pm, a set of wood doors near the front opens...lo and behold a second bar room with tables and a pool table, dart games and so forth! You can order food in there too, if you want. That's actually a nice feature: one of the very few. So once the kitchen finally got itself outta the weeds (manager was running the dishwasher), our Shrooms showed up and were fairly worth the wait. Huge white mushrooms were nicely steamed inside an Ubercrisp batter. Both iterations of ranch were quite yummy and not a victim of the Sysco truck square box shuffle. Queen Bee's entree: their "pineapple chicken griller." Chicken with veggie skewers and pineapple (duh); sub Brussels sprouts in lieu of rice pilaf. Good thing we weren't in a hurry, because it was ANOTHER 40 minutes before we were served our entrees. Michelle provided update after the 40' mark...I asked her if they had to chase and kill the damn chicken before cooking it. She actually loved her food. Veggies were nicely grilled; sprouts good N crispy. I thought the chicken was way too dry for having been marinated. Me, on the other hand... BBQ Burger, medium; slaw on side 4 me. Cheddar, caramelized onion, smoked bacon, BBQ sauce (I didn't taste any) plus tomato and pickles...WAY too much happening for that poor brioche bun. It fell apart faster than a fat guy at a fitness contest. Burger came out a "perfect medium well." I didn't send it back because I didn't wanna wait another 30 minutes for them to get it right. Slaw DEFINITELY tasted like it fell off the Sysco truck; bland and blah... The speed of service and whole overall atmosphere say the same basic thing. Blah. Poor Michelle, much like the kitchen, was overwhelmed and thus a bit underwhelming. A second free round on the house due to the long wait though. Meantime, if the kitchen were any slower the food would go in cooked and come out the window raw, cuz it'd be goin' backward. However, this IS Leesburg. Quaint as this town and this place may be, it's STILL Leesburg. Blah. read more

Another amazing meal at this place. First off the servers are always great and they all help each other out. Drinks are always great. Food was outstanding. We both had the Bourbon Salmon. The bourbon sauce has such a great taste. Not too sweet but extremely tasty. I had the mashed potatoes and brussel sprouts and she had double order of brussel sprouts. This is located in downtown Leesburg. Not a bad location, but a block or two away is a little sketchy. Parking is on the street so this matters. Wanted to sit outside, but all of the tables (about 6) were taken. Sat inside and the atmosphere is really nice. There's a bar and multiple tv's. Also a separate room with billiard tables. Full bar service, Pepsi products for soda. I ordered the vegetable flatbread, which they put green peppers on- although the menu only states red peppers. I had to pick them off, although the server offered to return it for a remake. I didn't want to wait that long. The crust was soggy, but the flavor was delicious. I would not order it again due to the soggy crust. Server Daniel was great and there were many other good-sounded options so I'd be willing to try it again. read more

Had my first meal at the brick and barrel today. Great service waitress was wonderful. Ordered a flatbread pizza. It was delicious. I would recommend this place and I will definitely be going back. It's not a five-star lunch restaurant, but it may well be a five star dinner and or function restaurant as there were two additional rooms for karaoke groups.
