I have also utilized their TNR program for a feral cat who birthed my new kitten which was also quick, efficient and a great experience. My regular vet does not perform surgeries and referred me to Metropolitan Veterinary Center for my…read more10-year-old pitbull mix's mast cell tumor removal. The tumor was located on his abdomen and was smaller than a quarter. The surgery was performed by Dr. Terbrack--and the condition in which my dog was sent home was nothing short of horrific. A few hours after surgery, I received a call from the clinic stating that my dog had developed some swelling and bruising, which they described as a seroma--a common, non-painful, fluid-filled swelling that typically resolves on its own. However, when I arrived to pick him up, a vet tech asked if I had a bathroom or hallway I "didn't mind getting dirty" because my dog was a "bloody mess." They had apparently performed two additional incisions to drain the so-called "seroma." This was not a seroma. My dog had a hematoma--he was actively bleeding, and the discharge was clearly blood, not clear fluid. His entire abdomen was severely bruised and swollen. Shockingly, the clinic had no proper bandages to manage the bleeding and instead sent him home wrapped in a scrub shirt and pee pads. What kind of surgical facility doesn't have basic wound care supplies like bandages? I was repeatedly told that mast cell tumors "sometimes act like this." My dog has had an MCT removal before, and this did not happen. I was advised to take him to the emergency vet only if the bruising or bleeding worsened. By that evening, I had no choice but to do exactly that. He ended up hospitalized for three days, receiving IV fluids, pain management, and antibiotics. He was also properly bandaged--something that should have been done from the start. The emergency vet told me he was in significant pain for the first 48 hours, and that oral medications alone would have been entirely inadequate to manage it. Despite spending over $2,500 on surgery and pre-op testing at Metropolitan, I had to pay an additional $4,000 in emergency care to save my dog's life. Fortunately, I had pet insurance and could afford it--otherwise, I may have lost him. Dr. Terbrack and the team at Metropolitan Veterinary Center downplayed my dog's condition, failed to provide adequate post-operative care, and sent him home in a state no animal should be in. I cannot recommend this clinic to anyone considering surgical care for their pet.

Then said doctor prescribed 2 scripts for 7 days. If dog didn't get better to bring him back. We asked to personally speak to doctor but he never entered room where we were. Received itemized bill showing paid. $39 offi e visit, $175 lab tests and $60 medication. $297 total cost of visit for about an hour. MY DOG DIED BY THE NEXT MORNING. Unable to get any coordination from these people. Dr. had staff call back after several attempts and offered to pay for cremation. But I want my money back except for office visit. I don't believe any labs were done and I certainly don't need any medication for a dead dog. This business needs to shut down.

To start, the receptionist was rude, which I should have taken as a sign to leave. I am horrified on how they handled my 12 year old dog with hip dysplasia and arthritis. At first things went alright, the first vet tech was sweet, kind and patient. The second vet tech that came in to help with trimming his nails was rough, trying to wrangle him like a bull by grabbing his back legs to slam him on his side. He whined and yelped and tried to get away. My dog was in no way aggressive, just scared because someone was hurting him. I had no idea how to react or what was going on, I was horrified. Then she had the audacity to yell at my mom and I that "this isn't working, you need to take him some where else!" Are you kidding me? If you hate animals that much, which by your actions and yelling, you clearly do, you should have NEVER chosen this career field. I wish I had video evidence so I could take legal action. My dog is traumatized and in so much pain from them. Hes limping and can barely walk tonight because of them. Please for the love of God, take your fur babies somewhere else, anywhere else. I will never ever take my animals back here nor will I ever recommend them to anyone ever.
