We were greeted by a staff member and told her about needing a wig. She began pulling some options and asking for styles/shapes of the wigs my mom was looking for. She was helpful but not all that helpful - did not say much about how to care for the wigs or best practices for them? We had to ask about all this. The cap to tuck your hair was also pretty cheap. We did find a wig for my mom which was $150. There were much pricier wigs that include human hair and wigs that have a built in part - those were $300s+. A foam mannequin is not included in a wig purchase and was $4.99. Tip - you can get these cheaper online or elsewhere.

She also encouraged me to get the topper cut into a style I liked better that framed my face. I then met with LaAngel, who cut the topper to perfection! The purchase includes color and a haircut. While I was pleased with the color, I was extremely dissatisfied with the quality of the cut. I was told by staff I would have to pay for the second cut and was advised to schedule another appointment to have it corrected. I felt I should not be charged to correct issues that resulted from the original service. I made multiple attempts during the course of a month to discuss my concerns with the owner and business manager through phone messages and email but received no response. For a product and service at this price point, I expected much better communication, support, and quality. This experience fell far short of my expectations and I cannot recommend this business to others.

At the last minute (Sunday, we were leaving Wednesday) she decides she wants to get a wig. I looked up a couple of wig places on line and had her make calls on Monday. Fortunately, the lady (Peggy? don't remember her name) noted she was about to leave but would wait for us if we could get there in the next 30 minutes. We got there and explained the situation and she was fantastic - and wonderfully patient! I lost count of how many different colors/styles of wigs that were tried out as the wife just couldn't make up her mind. I appreciated the fact she asked for a price range we could afford & brought out a variety of wigs in that price range and not just at the upper range noted. Finally when the a wig was chosen she took the time to trim it up, something she said ordinarily is done at a follow-up meeting but obviously we didn't have the time. Everyone at the wedding and when looking at pictures noted how great the wig looked - some were surprised to find out that it was a wig. I would recommend New York Design to anyone who needed a wig.

I called Betty Dee's Wig Shop to get a cut, I was told when I called the shop that she cuts wigs but couldn't tell me the cost til she saw it in person. When my partner and I arrived at the shop, she seems mad that we didn't purchase it from her shop, she pulled the wig out of the box, and said it was good quality. We thought that's Great. Then she asked where we bought it, when we told her it was hand made and that we made the purchase on line, she then refused to help us. Then after saying it was a good quality wig, she immediately turned around and said that it was a hack job. I explained that the company purposely leave a couple inches in length so that you can have them styled. She just kept saying it was a hack job and that we should of bought a wig from her. We explained that all her wigs in her display window were for women that's why we never thought to look there. It's bad enough going into a wig shop as a man (it more socially accepted for women to wear hair pieces), but when you are belittled and lectured, it sours you on the entire idea.
