Georgia Bramhall is a curly hair magician. I loved the way she took the time to get to know what I wanted out of my haircut but at the same time was confident enough to make the cut that she thought would work best for my curls. She begins with a dry cut, so she recommends showing up for your appointment with your hair down and in its natural form (try to have most of the tangles out for her sake and sanity :)). Her DevaCurl expertise was spot on. After the cut, she gives you a no poo rinse and condition and styles the hair with a DevaCurl technique. She explained the techniques she was using, but also informs you of ways to make it work at home for you. Her pointers for how to style your hair based on how much time, resources, etc. you may have are extremely reasonable and helpful. After drying for a short time she comes back and loosens up your curls and plays with them to develop a gorgeous finished product. I've never been happier with a cut! I have always had really oily skin, and any issue I've had with my skin in the past could always be attributed to its oiliness. I went to a dermatologist all through high school and finally found a balance with it in college. Everything had been fine for about 10 years or so, and all of a sudden something TERRIBLE AND AWFUL happened. Be it hormones or what have you, my skin did a complete 180 in a matter of a couple of months and it was suddenly dry, itchy, scaly, red, swollen, and irritated 24/7. I have baby fine hair but a lot of it, she listened to my obscure idea of what I wanted and somehow was able to get into my brain and see what exactly I envisioned, because it's perfect. A pixie cut that's not too short, perfectly shaped with tons of movement. I was even disliking my hair color (had done somewhere else awhile back) and seriously am liking what I see now I was a little hesitant because she's pricey, but I had zero problem paying because it looks expensive and I absolutely love love love my hair. I visited Laura Munoz for a facial at I Love You Pink because my skin was looking sad, tired, and not even remotely glow-y. I don't like to use weird chemicals on my skin, which is super pale and susceptible to redness. When I found out that Laura uses only natural products (some of which she concocts herself) I was sold. Laura is super warm and gentle, and she loves what she does. Each step is explained with enthusiasm and detail. I love getting extractions (I'm weird like that) which is basically when the aesthetician squeezes/gently pierces your pores to clear them out one by one. Laura is VERY good at this process and it didn't hurt at all. She was able to recommend steps I could take to keep my skin looking clear and smooth, and I left with an entirely different, well, improved face. I highly recommend a visit to Laura! read more

I Love You Pink is a godsend. I'm from Ohio and had a hairdresser who I trusted with my cut and color for 17 years. Then, I made a horrible decision on a vacation in NYC two years ago and had my hair absolutely destroyed. As you can imagine, I was very hesitant afterward. I had a really great experience at I Love You Pink. Georgia gave me a first time curly cut and it was honestly transformative. I've had Deva cuts before (including one prior great cut) but no one has explained the styling process to me better than Georgia. And I loved the cut itself. After some deliberation we decided to go shorter than I've ever gone, and I loved how it came out. The first time price is pretty high but over time I've learned you get what you pay for, especially when it comes to curly hair. I went from wearing my hair up 90% of the time to almost always wearing it down. The salon has a great vibe and everyone there was super friendly. Get in with her as fast as you can people :) Kacy has been doing my hair for over 5 years now- we have done everything from bangs and bobs to the latest, super short and I have loved each and every style and color we have played with over the years. She is an excellent listener, really taking the time to figure out what you are wanting and always giving you keen perspective on what would work best for your hair, face shape and lifestyle. I went to I Love You Pink on a recommendation from a friend. The first result was great but things just slipped. First it was a 2-hour appointment taking 4 hours without explanation or apology. Then it was a lopsided haircut that embarrassed the stylist I changed to for fixes. Then, a canceled appointment. I had to move lots of things to make a different schedule, but I thought, well, they went the extra mile to track me down for a new appointment, so maybe things aren't so bad. Only today, when I went to that scheduled time that was worked out and confirmed over several phone calls, I wasn't on the calendar at all. No record that any appointment had been made. And an expectation that I would wait around to see if they could "fit me in" for what was supposed to be cut, hair color, and highlights. Um, no. Nobody can create the range of perfect redheads the way Tisa Watson can. She has consistently produced beautiful results for my fine, flat hair over 7 years -- and has done it in a way that keeps my hair healthy and long even though I'm over 50. The owner of the salon, Farah Reid, is a hair-cutting genius, and stylist Georgia Bramhall is a wizard with all kinds of curly hair. I have watched these women work for years, and they are brilliant. I had my curly hair done and trimmed by Lauren this past weekend. I drove all the way from San Antonio (I'm an Austinite so I knew they'd have a good salon there!) to see someone who could handle this beast of curly hair. I've always had stylists that INSIST that they need to cut my hair wet or STRAIGHT because they're the trained ones and that's what school told them. Um, I don't wair my hair wet or straight and it would look good at first but then it'd be uneven once it dried and started to grow! There are only about 2 DevaCut certified stylists in San Antonio so I ventured to Austin and it was WELL worth it! Lauren was so great! I saw all the reviews for Georgia but she doesn't work weekends but I had read a couple good reviews about Lauren, too, so I came anyway and I'm so glad I did! She was trained by Georgia, the "curl sorceress" so she's on the path of being the next one! She was super helpful, friendly, and polite and made my hair look AMAZING! They use DevaCurl products which is what I use at home, so I didn't have to worry about them using sulfates or silicones. The salon has such a cute ambiance and smells amazing. I love the classic old-style music they play and the decor. It's in an easily accessible location near downtown Austin. I WILL come back (To be fair, I do have family in Buda so it makes the drive easier) all the way from San Antonio for my future cuts! read more

I waited way too long to get a haircut. Mainly because I hate trying a new stylist only to not like the cut or experience. I made an appointment with heather and she was super informative and really nice. I didn't feel guilty for not blow drying or styling my hair. I do feel inspired to try to in the future. IM ECSTATIC!! Kacy is the best thing that's ever happened to my hair. After being butchered by Melanie at frenchies and then again by Jody Rivera at mint salon, I've spent 6 months really depressed at the status of my fried, mangled hair. When I thought I'd have to chop it off, I noticed a beautiful girl at work with amazing hair and asked her where to go. That's how I found Kacy. She's fantastic. Listened to every last word I said, spent a lot of time explaining what she'll do and how she'll fix everything else (when my other stylists would just brush off my concerns and hack away) and made sure I was 100% comfortable before continuing. Oh my god. I never thought it would be so affected by having terrible hair and even more impressed with how beautiful I could feel. Of all the stylists I've ever been to she tops any experience I've ever had. The salon is beautiful, the atmosphere is pleasant, it's no bullshit. Every person I saw in and out looked fabulous. She wanted to make sure that I was happy with my haircut and set up a complimentary appointment with their curl expert, Georgia. Although there wasn't much Georgia could do except offer me advice for the grow out period, I did appreciate the sentiment and the salon's willingness to listen to my feedback and try to make it right. Even though I still wouldn't recommend seeing Marisol if you are a super curly girl, I would recommend the salon because they truly do stand behind their haircuts. read more

eeep! Adrianne took my hair from natural/partially dyed chocolate brown to BLEACH BLONDE. AND IT IS AWESOME. She was so sweet and helpful, did exactly what I asked and didn't even chastise me for or try to fix my shitty, DIY bob. Being my first experience going blonde, she was so comforting and fun to talk to. As I watched clients go in and out and the employees interact with each other, I definitely got the familial vibe from everyone in there. Farrah, who was also working, kept interjecting with adorable squeals and words of advice. I wouldn't have wanted to go anywhere else for my major hair change.
