In each session, she asked me how my skin had been acting, what kinds of activities I had been engaging in (good and bad, i.e., smoking), and created a personalized session for that appointment. She also educated me about the crappy face supplies that I had been using (without making me feel stupid) and got me started on an organic, gentle line of skin care that has done wonders for me. We spoke briefly about my skin care routine and other than answer any questions I had (she was very patient, I had many, and was pretty nosy about the whole expereince), it was very relaxing. Whatever she did with paprika felt amazing, and I liked the mud mask and the facial massage. Ok, so I liked it all! I'd asked about a specific product and she introduced me to it at the end fo the session. It wasn't sale-sy at all (in fact, i'm wondering if or how she sells any product if the customer doesn't take the initative) and I got a great under eye product from Colorscience. The daughter even got me a glass of wine and talked with me about the messy reality show that was on the tv. I hate to do this update but i have to be honest because i left the shop this time feeling a bit differently than last time. I got more services, paying $100 (almost 3 times more than what I paid the first time); I wasn't as enthusiastic with what i walked out with. Particularly my toes. I got a manicure and a pedicure and while the manicure was AMAZING the pedicure was not done particularly well. When my little slippers were being put on she scraped my big toe. I asked if id moved (Even though i know i didn't i just didn't want her to feel bad because she was so nice!) She said it was fine. I thought she'd redo the nail but instead she just painted over the bald spot causing a kind of translucent dip and very thick paint. I didn't notice until i got home that several toes weren't painted properly. Also, i finished removing the dead skin because there were spots still left. Although, i must say, she did remove most of it and it was easy to get the patches left behind (I'm sure its easy to miss some and my feet weren't in the best shape). I'm going to repaint my toes tomorrow, and while I'm at it, I'll have to touch up my nails because the paint is already coming off the edges and there's a small chip on my left thumb. I understand these things can happen but i wouldn't imagine on the same day I've had them done. Also since i got the gel i thought it would last a bit longer. So overall not the way i saw this going but because its such a friendly welcoming environment id still come back.

When I was rescheduled, I was asked to come in at an earlier time that I had already explained I couldn't accommodate. And, just today, they asked me again to come in earlier at a time I can't accommodate. More recently, I booked a skincare consultation with Salma, hoping to receive a personalized treatment plan for dry, dull skin. Instead, the esthetician barely examined my skin before returning with an armful of expensive products. I was only able to sample one of them, and there was virtually no discussion of treatment options or facial services that might address my concerns. The entire appointment felt more like a sales pitch than a professional skincare consultation. As a longtime client, I expected thoughtful recommendations and a customized plan, not pressure to buy products and a poor attitude from someone one who is supposedly a licensed esthetician. I left feeling like my time wasn't valued and that customer care has taken a back seat to retail sales. Also, when I speak to someone at the front desk, I don't think it's too much to ask that they are professional with me but that wasn't the case today with Holly. Sadly, I can no longer recommend SkinEnvy based on the poor business acumen and unprofessionalism of the current staff.
