Wonderful campground with a great location. Nice sized lots. Gated and feels safe. Don't let your pets out. Coyotes are thick and will take your dog even when on a leash. Cats are definitely a no outside. read more

I give the facility 5 stars for cleanliness and feeling of secure. Unfortunately, the green areas or grass are populated with STICKER BURRS, 100%. So it's a problem if you brought dogs. The beach area and jetty are very nice wit a shower upon returning to the RV park and picnic areas/ tables near the waters edge. read more

Enjoyed camping here for a week after new years during the pandemic. The first few days were great, but then it got cold and rainy, as expected. Staying the last few days was a mistake given how crazy windy and stormy it got, which shouldn't have been a surprise considering the location. We did enjoy our time on the beach and the spots were nicely spaced out with long concrete pads and full hookups. The staff was nice enough and was able to get us in smoothly. Definitely would consider coming back again, but would head out early for any aggressive weather next time. read more

The best place to hang on the beach in Port A. The IB Magee beach park has camping on the beach, a bath house with hot water & is in walking distance to Keepers pier. The best place for people watching, boat watching, bird watching, dolphin watching & fishing can be had right here at this beach park. It's also nice to be able to walk to the pier for ice, food & drinks when your on the beach. It's dog friendly & there is also lots of parking for those that bring their horses & trailers to ride the beach. Watching the horses at first light in the surf is a magnificent sight. You can build a bon fire on the beach, fly your kites, or just hang & watch the surfers surf by the pier. There is a small area across from the bath house next to the pier where you can drive ON the beach & launch your boat. If you have a golf cart you can drive down to mile marker 40 where you will see the best sand dunes on Mustang island. You can drive the beach down to beach access one & after that you can drive your golf cart/car ON the beach. There is not too many people down there & lots of great photo ops. On my last trip I was driving around down there & found a giant piece of drift wood that must have came off a old ship on the beach. I brought it home & had it made into a coat rack. It's so stunning. A constant reminder of the natural beauty & wonderful memories of IB Magee beach park. My favorite destination in Port A ;) read more

I have some good memories over the years surfing by the pier and hanging out at the beach. When it's not crowded, it's really nice. Water is nice. The beach is cleaner than most Texas beaches. Camping and bonfires are allowed. Lots of hot women. Fishing is good. Drinking is allowed (I think). What else could you want? read more

With a great location that's right on the beach and not far from town, IB Magee is a good option for camping in Port Aransas. The 3-story park headquarters offers hot showers, coin laundry, and an upper deck with chairs and great views of the beach and gulf. The park's free wifi, while spotty at times, was accessible from our campsite and worked well enough to handle email and basic surfing. The people working at the park are super friendly, especially office manager Donna, who quickly learned our names and gave us tips on things to do. The sites are not particularly secluded - grab one on the outer ring for maximum privacy. If you want a campfire, you'll need to bring your own portable fire ring and wood. The plus side to doing this: you can have a campfire on the beach if it's not too windy. Rules are posted at the park office. Minor annoyance - the maintenance crew likes to close the bathrooms for cleaning between 8 and 9 am, right when everyone wants to take a shower - so plan accordingly. read more

I love the location and the services offered by the park. Staffed until 10pm, clean showers, wifi and access to both the beach and fishing pier. I suggest bringing cash and only pay for the daily camping fee daily. They offer NO REFUNDS for anything or any reason. Also if you are using credit they charge a "service fee" for each transaction. Even if you are buying a beverage, they add a 3.95 fee for each transaction. My next issue is with the maintenance of the road inside the RV park. It is in horrible shape and as a county park you would think that the county would maintain the roads better. Campsites are really close together but if you're lucky you can get one of the more desirable sites. read more

A fantastic place to see the beach! This beach has all the amenities that you'd expect from a great beach- showers, bathrooms, good parking, and easy access. This beach is right in town, right down the way from the ferry. It's on the gulf side of the island, so the waves are bigger over here than the other side of the island. There's plenty of parking, you can park right on the beach! There are permits required if you're going to park or camp over night. It's not much per night. There are plenty of places to toss your trash, and it's a clean beach! The place right by the pier seems to be the most scenic spot, where they have outdoor yoga classes, day care field trips, and kite contests. You can't go out on the pier without paying an entry fee. You can take your dog out here, but it has to be on a leash. I've never camped out on this part of the island, but it does look nice! read more

Nowhere on IB Magee's website does it state that you cannot have tents alongside your RV!! Interesting since this used to be a tent campsite. We brought our large RV and was planning on having the kids stay in tents on the concrete patio on the side of our RV (one for the boys and one for the girls). Instead of addressing the issue in a polite empathetic way, Donna was completely rude! I came back from the beach in the afternoon and was approached by another couple who was camping. They asked me about my tents to see if they were allowed and I said I think so. They told me a maintenance guy came by their site and told them tents were not allowed. They said they were headed to the office to inquire about it and that they would stop by and tell me the results of the conversation. They came back and said that tents were allowed but not on the grass, only the concrete so vegetation is not harmed. I thought everything was okay since mine were on the concrete. I then got a call from Donna who completely denied that tents were allowed in anyway. I told her that this is listed nowhere on their website and their Facebook page as of 5/28/21. I told her that we would have stayed somewhere else had we known this. She justified the no tent policy by saying they do not have the facilities to accommodate tent camping. However, our RV provided all the facilities we needed. I understand not allowing tent only camping but what is the harm if the tents are on the concrete? Completely ridiculous! I then discovered the office (Donna) left a passive aggressive voicemail earlier reprimanding me for my tents while ending it with the ole "have a blessed day". Well Karen, I mean Donna, we didn't have a blessed day because you failed to set the expectations on your website about prohibiting tent camping which at a campsite is a huge oversight! Plus, their office was located in a flooded lot and you had to wade through six inch water to get there. Maybe that is why they are so cranky! read more

We stayed at IB Magee on a last minute family camping / surfing trip. It was a nice little camp site and very affordable. A tent campsite with water, electricity, and access to the shower house runs $20 a night and a camper with all the amenities is only $23. That being said there are a few things you should know: #1) Under no circumstances camp towards the back of the campground. There is a marsh and with it comes the most insane amount of mosquitoes that I have ever seen in my life. I highly recommend camping as close to the sand dunes as possible. These are the best spots on the camp site. #2) There are rules like "no fireworks on the campsite" but when your neighbors decide to shoot roman candles towards your tent at 2am there is no one there to reinforce those rules. Thanks guys, my 18 month old baby especially appreciated that one. #3) The beach and public bathrooms are cleaned first thing every morning. Unfortunately they are cleaned by criminals straight from prison donning their black & white striped outfits and everything. This didn't bother me too much but it did put me off a little. Overall (other than the mosquitoes) we did have a good time here. The beach is nice with great waves for surfing and lots of shells for the little ones to pick up. I would probably give this place 3 1/2 stars if it were an option but I'm being generous and rounding up. read more

I have no idea how to rate this park. We've stayed here two years in a row and had a great time. We were warned of coyotes both times, when checking in. Our beloved dog was taken right off the leash last night. The coyote must have been under our camper waiting for us to walk out. Thursday night there were two large coyotes circling our camper. There were 7 adults sitting outside, playing music and cornhole. These coyotes are NOT afraid at all. My son chased them away multiple times but they just went a few feet away and came right back. These coyotes are also the biggest I've ever seen. Now, if you don't bring a dog this is a great place to stay. There are no frills, lots of stickers in the grass...but it's a great location and you can walk to the beach. Just PLEASE do NOT bring your dog. You simply cannot be careful enough. read more

If you like the beach and you like tent camping, definitely go here! The park is located directly across the street from the beach. And, if you like camping but prefer not to rough it, then this place is definitely ideal for you. They have 24 hour showers and bathrooms available for those doing either RV or tent camping. And at a mere $20/night for tent camping with electricity and water, it's a steal! The shower stalls can get kinda grody by the afternoon, so I suggest going right around 9/10, right after they've been cleaned (bathrooms and showers are closed from 8-9 for maintenance). The office is open from 8am -10:30pm 7 days a week and they take cash and credit cards. They also sell a number of convenience items like ice! I'll definitely be back here next time we head to Port A. read more

Came here a year ago with my venture scouts and attended Texas surf camp as well. We stayed 3 nights and had an epic time! The showers were awesome and the location and price is super'. The campsites have electric and water, so what more could you hope for! Staff was super friendly! Loved the upper deck of the park bldg to watch sunrises. The laundry area was a total bonus! If you like a dirty campground on a dirty beach with dirty, broken bathrooms, and disrespectful fellow campers then I highly recommend staying in the primitive camping area at I.B. Magee Beach Park. If however, you don't enjoy flooded bathrooms, finding leftover weed in the bathroom, having tent neighbors burn a leftover boxspring (and then having to smell the fumes all night), headlights aimed into your tent late at night, having the people around absolutely trash their camping sites and leave crap all over the ground, or loud traffic right behind your tent until around 1:00am then I suggest trying someplace else. The national park down the road is free, and appeared nowhere near as cramped and trash filled. Seriously, I wouldn't consider this place especially family friendly, and as dirty as it is, I just don't see any good reason to stay there. Maybe the camper side is nicer, it certainly looked it, but the beach camping was not pleasant. I would have taken pictures, but we bailed at 5:00am after we realized the bathrooms were both closed down for repair, and we couldn't take the stench of burned boxspring any longer. read more

We would stay here again. There is little to no protection against the wind! We had 35+ mph winds on the first night we stayed here and it was a little scary. Each sight has electrical and water and a little semi-covered picnic table. There is a check in area/ observation deck/ bathrooms and showers. Showers are for paying guests only and are quite clean. Obviously SUPER close to the beach. Just watch out for the stickers when walking there. read more

We really like staying here when we come to Port Aransas. The campground is clean and the grounds are maintained, though the road inside the park needs to be fixed this summer. Each camp spot has a nice picnic table for meals. The bathroom and shower areas are clean and working properly. The office staff is friendly. Ice is no longer available for purchase in the office, we do miss that convenience. The wi-fi is moderate through out the park. The park is pet friendly. The beach in front of the campground is combed and clean , the perfect place to relax. The beach has a row of picnic tables for family meals. The prices are affordable and budget friendly. read more

My husband and I have stayed at just about every RV park on the island at one time or another. IB Magee is the easiest and nicest. You cant beat the price or the location and space. The only amenity the other parks have that IB Magee doesnt is a pool. but I never understood why you came to the beach and needed a pool anyway! They allow tent camping as well as rvs in the same location, but I dont have an issue with that, some might. The showers and restrooms are clean if you need them, its EASY to call and reserve a spot and the spaces are very very roomy. Other parks on the island have you crammed in like sardines, here you actually have room and space between spots. I think the weekend rate during the summer is around $25.00, less in the fall and weekdays- compare that to $80+ at most other island campgrounds! After you stay once, your info is in their system and check in takes less than 5 min. Everyone we have ever dealt with has been very friendly and welcoming. We just booked our site for next weekend, this will be the 4th time this summer! read more

My family and I went this last weekend and camped here on Saturday it was really beautiful and clean beach. The water was clean and there was a lot of ppl camping. My husband took a shower for $1 at the office and he said it was clean also the restrooms by the camp site was okay for a beach environment they do however need to put trash cans in the stools cause there was trash. We only paid $12 from Saturday to Monday. Will definitely be returning. The ferry was also quick and easy to get in out out off. The town had bars restaurants etc. We will be renting a beach house here soon. read more

The waves were great. The actual beach was not to far from the parking area. Showers are located along the beach every so often. There are no actual restrooms with running water. Port A Pots only. Get it Port A - Port Aransas. Any way. Not to crowded. Beach was kind of messy. Worst part were the tiny stinging creatures in the deeper water. I think they were baby jellyfish. After awhile we just packed up and went to the hotel pool. read more

This park was my first experience of beachin' it at the Gulf, and it definitely made me love it! My family didn't camp, but we parked near the string of covered picnic tables and setup shop on the pedestrian only beach. Parking was not a problem for a Saturday afternoon in June, and there were quite a few picnic areas to choose from. The sand was relatively clean save for a few buried bottle caps and the usual shells that are expected. Everyone who was there was very respectful of others' belongings and also helpful in pointing us in the direction of the restrooms/showers. The part of the beach itself was mostly clear, but of course, the ocean usually wins over any human efforts to clear off fruits of the sea like seaweed/kelp and dead crabs/fish. This was a great free beach for the day. read more

Just got back from a 3 night 4 day stay on the beach. When we left we had our doubts about where we were going to camp and the place we made our reservations charged half of what the others in the area charged however it was directly on the beach. We still showed up and to our surprise it was decent and for only $23 a night with private CLEAN showers and water and electricity you can't go wrong. Everyone was really nice and being right on the beach allowed us maximum beach time. We will be back. Oh yeah they don't have sewer hook ups but they do have a dumping station so really for the savings and being on the beach it was worth the extra 15 minutes at the end of the stay to dump. Make sure that you ask for a beach view when reserving. read more
