Hilton Garden Inn - Guest room

    Hilton Garden Inn

As a Hilton Diamond member for most of my life, I have met so many amazing Hilton employees. This…read moreparticular Hotel is not your typical Garden Inn. It is owned and managed by some backward thinking individuals. Take the sloppy thug-looking guy at the front desk named Hardwin. We have had numerous problems on this 5-day stay. But tonight Mr. Abrasive Hardwin says that tonight they are starting the new policy to not offer Diamond members free bottles of water. He says it's too expensive and they have a filtered tap water system to fill up old bottles, which I don't have. Mind you, in the prior 3 nights we have been provided with several comped bottles of water, from at least 3 other managers who informed us that because I am a Diamond member we take care of it. But not with Hardwin at the helm. He said, I don't care if you are Diamond or not; no more water. Again, he was totally rude about it and the only thing I can think of him is that he must be the owner's son. If not, Hilton should carefully review his track record. Nobody acts like this out of the blue; he must have been acting like this to many others in the past! Nobody needs this guy's pity nonsense.

    Place Vendôme, 2ème

This review is long overdue, but very much deserved. We booked five nights at the Park Hyatt…read moreParis-Vendôme as part of the European leg of our honeymoon in October 2025, arriving from London via Eurostar into Gare du Nord. From there, we took the metro to the Opéra station in the 1st Arrondissement and walked to the hotel. After a long day of travel, we were tired and a bit flustered, and handed our bags to the bellhops without properly identifying ourselves. This led to a brief mix-up locating our luggage, though it was ultimately our own fault as we had given my wife's name rather than mine, which is what the reservation was under. Everything was safely stored in the back, and it was sorted out without issue. At check-in, our Guest of Honor booking was immediately recognized and we were upgraded to a room with a balcony overlooking Place Vendôme. The front desk apologized for the lack of suite availability but assured us we would love the room, and they were right. We were welcomed with a bottle of champagne and a chocolate cake in celebration of our honeymoon, a genuinely lovely touch. The lavender pillows from the pillow menu and our requested mattress firmness, both submitted weeks in advance, were honored to perfection. The hard product was of very high quality. While I understand the critique some make about the décor feeling dated at this price point, I personally appreciated the classic Parisian character of the space, with its warm wood tones and gold accents. The shower setup was one of the most unique we've encountered. And being on a high floor with a direct view of Place Vendôme? That's the stuff of dreams. The soft product matched every bit of it; the service throughout our stay was warm, attentive, and consistently made us feel like the trip was being taken care of. We left the champagne and chocolates to explore the neighborhood and quickly discovered that nearly everything we wanted to see was either within walking distance or a short metro ride away. That first night, we got wonderfully lost wandering into the 8th Arrondissement before settling in for a late dinner at the bar of La Petite Vendôme, sandwiches and fries included. If you know, you know. Seats are hard to come by, so reserve well in advance. Breakfast each morning at Café Jeanne was a genuine highlight. Between the super fruit bowl, made-to-order eggs, eggs Benedict, premium coffee, and the shakshuka that I personally could not get enough of, it was a wonderful way to fuel up for the day. As Globalist members with the Guest of Honor benefit, breakfast was fully included, along with a glass of very nice champagne. Refills were offered, and while it certainly wasn't bottomless, two glasses of quality champagne to start the morning was a very welcome touch. Communication with the concierge in the months leading up to our stay, and on the day itself, was seamless. Museum and restaurant reservations were handled in advance, and the team was able to secure tables at some genuinely difficult spots. If you're staying here, lean into that perk early and often. All in all, we couldn't have asked for a more magical first stay in Paris. In our view, the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendôme lived up to its Palace status at the time of our visit, and we hope it earns that designation back in the future. Our stay was nothing short of superb. Effortless luxury, start to finish. We would love to return in the future!

My mother is a diligent Hyatt Globalist, and last year, she used just about all her points to do…read morethe ultimate Hyatt booking: four rooms at the Park Hyatt Paris-Vendome, for 45,000 points per room per night, for a big C. family vacation. That rate has since climbed to 75,000 points, and I don't think any of us are likely to go back for all that. This was a free stay for me and my crew, so let me start by saying the hotel was generally very nice. The location was excellent, central and close to transit, and the common areas were opulent and attractive. Everyone I interacted with on staff was polite and helpful, and housekeeping did good work. I also appreciated the complimentary wine and chocolates left in our room, and the breakfast and dinner at the lobby restaurant. My brothers and I had rooms on the 4th floor, while my parents were in a suite on the 6th. My room had a king bed and room for a rollaway, which my kids took turns sleeping in when they weren't just piling onto our bed. The rooms were comfortable and upscale, if more in line with 45,000 points than 75,000. No wow factor, and some things felt weird and old. The outlet situation wasn't great. There were no adaptors, and there were a couple USB ports, but they were for smartphone cables from like five years ago. The lighting was also nuts. We wanted to turn off most of the lights when our kids went to bed, but keep one on so we could hang out in the room. There was legit no way to do this, and we sat in the dark rather than have spotlights keeping our kids awake. These are minor complaints, which I might have ignored if not for my big complaint: the planned power outage on the last night of our stay. We were not notified of this outage in advance of our trip, and only learned about it through a printed letter left in our room. The power outage was scheduled for between midnight and 4:30 in the morning, an we found out about it when we returned to the hotel after midnight and learned the elevators weren't running. We walked up the stairs and spent the night in an overheated room with no electricity in the middle of July. It was really unpleasant. When we woke up, we learned the electricity was still partially out, and neither of our phones had charged. My husband's phone was dead, and he went downstairs to get it charged and complain to the front desk. He told them that the hotel shouldn't have been open for business, and they offered to refund my mom 45,000 points, the cost of our room for that night. This was a good start, but only accounted for one of our four rooms. When we compared notes with my mom, we also learned that a hotel employee had opened the door to our room that night while she was in there watching our sleeping children. He didn't announce himself until she asked who he was and chased him out, and when she inquired with management about what happened, they told her we'd requested help with a safe. This wasn't true, but they acted like it was, and were generally dismissive and unapologetic. My mom ended up emailing management about all of the above, and they were, overall, dismissive and unapologetic. At some point, they did quietly give her the 45,000 points promised to my husband, but there was no other acknowledgment that she had been inconvenienced. As my husband pointed out, the hotel wasn't fit to be occupied that night, and there must have been a meeting to discuss whether or not to close for business. Management must have decided that would be too expensive, and that the letter would be sufficient. Look, I'm not a difficult customer, and I certainly don't go around complaining about fancy hotels. But our Park Hyatt experience was a solid B. I wouldn't recommend it, especially not at the new rate.
