I can't believe I spent 2800$ for this. But here we are! They're supposed to find the root cause and treat it naturally...well they pumped me with antibiotics and anti fungal medication for months! Still can't believe I drove 1.5-2 hrs each way to this organization. My advice to this place, show some positive results and provide at least some answers before charging your poor clients. I was dealing with IBS for a little over 1 year prior to finding this center. I had gone through tons of specialists and testings throughout the US and even consulted with doctors in Mexico. I am very impressed by our treatment at the IBS Treatment Center. Dr. Karen D'Huyvetter is an excellent listener, and we never felt rushed while talking to her either in person or during phone consultations. Before we came here, our GP, and even a Gastroenterologist, dismissed the symptoms as garden variety IBS-D. These previous doctors recommended low FODMAP diets, but the symptoms persisted. Dr. D'Huyvetter utilized the comprehensive allergy screen and identified several foods which were severe allergens - by cutting these out, the symptoms are virtually gone. She also utilized the biome screening to look for elevated levels of yeast, bad bacteria, etc. Our lives are completely changed by the treatment we received at the IBS Treatment Center. This place is worth every penny and I wish we would have tried them ten years ago. I brought my mother here last year because gastro doctors had no answers for her symptoms other than to get a colonoscopy. Dr. Forghani recommended a series of tests which would identify any pathogens or food allergies and the tests revealed an overgrowth of yeast in the intestines. The doctor was very patient, understanding and generous with her time. However, the cost of every consultation and testing is VERY high ($300 for 30 minute consult and around $700 for tests) and is not covered by insurance. My mom was put on a VERY restrictive yeast and sugar free diet that has not been fun but has seemed to help calm down her symptoms. In short, I was dealing with IBS for about a year with gut-wrenching upset stomach, diarrhea and the constant urge and anxiety to find a restroom. Within 6 weeks with meeting with Dr. Diflorio, my symptoms were completely relieved. In length - My Story: After my first trip to Europe, I started experiencing upset stomach, nausea, and diarrhea everyday that progressed for about 6 months before I decided to go see a gastroenterologist. Prior to seeing the gastroenterologist, my PCP ordered a stool sample, but the results came up negative without any telltale sign of what was causing my symptoms. My gastroenterologist recommended and performed a colonoscopy but to no avail. He subsequently prescribed Dicyclomine for one month to treat my gut-wrenching symptoms. I'll admit, Dicyclomine helped relieved my symptoms, but it did not ultimately treat my condition. At my follow-up appointment with my gastroenterologist, my gastroenterologist was happy to hear that Dicylomine was alleviating my symptoms. At that point, he concluded that I had IBS since Dicyclomine was helping. Although I was grateful for my symptoms to be relieved, my condition and symptoms were not completely eradicated. I expressed my concern and frustration with my gastroenterologist, who simply reiterated my condition was incurable and that I was just going to have to live with maintaining it. Disappointed with my gastroenterologist's ability to do his job as a scientist/physician, I adamantly requested that he prescribed a blood and stool test to at least provide a peek and insight (literally) into what could be going wrong inside my internal being. Reluctantly he ordered a blood tests, but at that point, I knew my gastroenterologist wasn't interested in getting to the bottom of my particular issue, so I decided to find help elsewhere. On a desperate search for an alternative reality, I stumbled across the IBS Treatment Center in a google search. I was skeptic of its reviews and its claims to CURE IBS, especially holistically and naturally. I was initially concerned of how expensive it was, and how the costs would first have to come out of pocket and then reimbursed through my insurance's out of network policy. But being so desperate - I gave it a shot. So I called the IBS Treatment Center in Santa Monica. Made an appointment and met with Dr Diflorio who was so pleasant to visit and speak with. She and her staff genuinely cared and wanted to help. At our initial consultation, Dr. Diflorio prescribed a blood and stool sample test. Dr. Diflorio explained that the stool sample test would analyze the state of my gut regarding good and bad bacteria, and the blood test would determine what various types of foods were inducing an immune response in my body and possibly cause inflammation in my gut. The stool and blood results took about 4 - 5 weeks to return. I had a follow-up appointment to go over my results, which were eye-opening. The blood test reiterated some of the foods I was already aware of that I was very allergic to e.g. shellfish, however the blood results also showed foods that I was commonly eating everyday that might have been contributing to my constant, upset stomach and diarrhea symptoms e.g. almonds, egg whites, brown sugar, and salmon. The stool sample test results showcased how my good bacteria was extremely low and bad bacteria was extremely high. Before I left the follow-up appointment, Dr. Diflorio provided me with an action plan to treat my IBS: - Eat with mindfulness and be grateful for the food and the nourishment it is providing to my body. - Go home and listen to my body and my gut - It is trying to tell me something. - Drink plentiful water - Based on the blood results, slowly remove foods from my diet that are potentially causing inflammation in my gut and body. - Based on the stool sample results, Dr. Diflorio prescribed natural supplements of Bearberry to eradicate the bad bacteria, probiotics to support the good bacteria and enzymes to support my digesting in my body. I followed Dr. Diflorio's plan for recovery and within ONE week, my symptoms were noticeably alleviated and my urge to constantly use the restroom began to diminish Within ONE month, my symptoms were at a minimal and at times unnoticeable, and I was relearning how to live without the anxiety of upset stomach and diarrhea. It's been about 8 months since I've started seeing Dr. Diflorio. Thanksgiving and Christmas has come and gone, and I'll admit that I've digressed from my diet and supplements Dr. Diflorio had laid out prior to the festive times. I came to the IBS Treatment Center a hardened skeptic. I'd spent 5 years bouncing from one gastroenterologist to the next trying to solve the problems I'd been having with my stomach since taking a course of antibiotics for a simple case of bronchitis. I had given up despite my husband's urging to keep trying to find the answer. I was driving home on the freeway one day and heard the radio ad for IBS Treatment Center and, as hokey as it sounds, they were "speaking to me". All of the comments I'd heard from doctors over the years, "you're fine", "don't eat after 8 pm," "eat smaller portions," "have this test or that other horrible test," all resulting in the same non-diagnosis, IBS. I Googled the center convinced I would find "scam," "not worth the money" but what I found were glowing testemonials about what they were able to accomplish with their patients and 6 months after that first visit to see Dr. Dorian Holmes, I am a believer. There are myriad causes for the symptoms lumped into that IBS category and Dr. Holmes makes sure you approach your course of treatment focused on the actual problem, not the symptoms. My particular issue turned out to be candida (an overgrowth of yeast in the intestine). The treatment was a combination of diet changes to starve the yeast and natural supplements to kill the yeast and restore my body to its natural rythm. Gone are the bloating, painful gas, bouts of alternating diahhrea and constipation, acid reflux and stomach pains. Not only have I eliminated the symptoms that sent me to the doctor in the first place, turns out there were other things I was experiencing that were also being caused by the inflammation in my gut and I didn't even know it. I had been experiencing bleeding gums for years. At my last dentist appointment my dentist couldn't believe she was looking into the same mouth. I just wanted to thank the IBS Treatment Center and Dr. Forghani for the help I have received here through the past few years. I have suffered with stomach problems for quite awhile, and other doctors put me through so many invasive tests and were not able to give me any help. I tried so many different diets, and while some helped a bit, I still felt sick and had stomach problems. I then started developing horrible anxiety and my daily life was suffering - to the point where I didn't even want to leave the house. When I decided to try this place out about 3 years ago, I wasn't expecting much but went in with an open mind. I ended up getting the normal food allergy blood test, an extra food allergy test, and a stool test done. I had a slight bacterial overgrowth and multiple foods that I had to avoid, such as all dairy, eggs, corn, shellfish, most fruits, black pepper, and sesame seeds. It was terrifying thinking of cutting out so many foods but I stuck to it. The changes did not happen overnight. In fact I think it was 2-3 months before I started feeling a bit better, and about 6 months before I would call myself stabilized. I was like a new person after this. I could go out again, I could eat at restaurants, I could travel. For quite awhile I was feeling on top of the world and invincible after such a long time of feeling hopeless. Everything was great. Then I slowly started eating the foods I had been avoiding and I was still feeling great. It was like a miracle. I went a bit out of control though and started eating anything I wanted, every day of the week. It took about 3 or 4 months, but suddenly I started feeling the way I used to when I was sick. It was the worst feeling ever having stomach problems again after having known what normal feels like. I went back to my strict diet immediately but I was still getting sick, and the anxiety came rushing back. I am 34 and never had any GI issues until September, 2013. I was diagnosed with Gastritis/GERD and IBS after my local Doctor ruled out Crohn's and Colitis (this is usually the first 2 they rule out via colonoscopy and endoscopy). I was soon on various PPI's and H2 blockers and home and very miserable. The Gastritis was easy to heal, but the GERD/IBS was not, and it was tough to function since my sleep was very poor. I started searching the internet and forums for answer and natural cures and really wanted to know what happened to me and my body. I found the IBS Treatment Center on a Google search and studied their website extensively. At that point I decided to make an appointment and had nothing to lose. The appointment was very easy, Dr. Nelson sat down and went over all the exams I already had. I then had blood drawn and then flew back home. I was given a stool test kit to submit to a lab, this gets sent via FedEx overnight. 3 weeks later I had the results of the first test, which showed which foods I was allergic to, and had to avoid. The report I received was very clear, it is divided into different food groups (Dairy, Meats/eggs, fish, vegetables, fruits and legumes). It then shows you which foods produce an allergic reaction in the digestive tract and how severe the reaction was. During the follow up with Dr. Nelson, I learned that some of these foods may be introduced later and in moderation (6 months) and some particular ones I will have to avoid the rest of my life. (a small sacrifice in order not to have IBS, acid reflux) I started following my new diet on 02/21 and it didn't take more than 2-3 days to feel just about 100%. Still have to watch out for hidden cane sugar and other foods that cause problems. I opted for the Standard 96 food panel, I may do the additional spices as well soon. Part of my new regime is reading labels and looking for certain substances that are forbidden. All in all, I am very happy with the treatment so far. My sleep is almost back to 100%, I am not bloated or constipated and I go to the bathroom on a regular basis. I do take my probiotics everyday. read more

This was the second experience I have had with the IBS Treatment Center, the first for my college-age daughter and the second time for me. Both times we had very good experiences. We learned what the problems were with our diet, made changes based on their suggestions and both feel much better. She is extremely professional and compassionate. Dr. Forghani has the rare capacity of being an excellent listener who carefully considers the unique needs of her patients. She is a clear communicator who gives patients her full time and attention. Suffering from IBS for over three years, I had been seen by two general practitioners, five gastroenterologists, a specialist at the Mayo Clinic, an acupuncturist, and a holistic medicine therapist. The Mayo Clinic had been able to diagnose some food intolerances, but all the other pursuits had been unsuccessful. During my fourth year of symptoms, I tried the IBS Treatment Center in Santa Monica in desperation. Dr. Forghani was the first doctor to search for the cause of the problems, rather than merely prescribing medication to mask the symptoms. I went to IBS treatment center first back in July of this year. My stomach was having issues for a year or two I had tried everything I could think of. Other doctors told me it was just heartburn or anxiety, I was almost ready to give up. Then I stumbled across this place looking online and made an appointment. The first appointment I had I discussed how I was feeling and right away felt like the doctor really cared about how I was feeling and wanted to make me feel better. The first thing that was done was a couple of tests, one was a blood draw for food allergy testing, and another was to check good gut bacteria levels, parasites, yeast, etc. It turned out I had a yeast overgrowth and some pretty serious reactions/allergies to food. I began treating the yeast overgrowth and staying away from the allergy inducing foods. I noticed a difference right away. Dr. Sanaz Forghani is an outstanding doctor and knows how to expertly guide patients to curing or greatly improving their irritable bowel symptoms. I am currently a patient of the IBS Treatment Center. Dr Sanaz Forghani. Helps me out and understand what I am going thru. I have been suffering with IBS since I was 19 years old. Gaby is the best receptionist on the phone. She stayed with me on the phone for 1 hour. As I don't speak english. But she made me feel that I was not the only one as she told me she suffers from IBS as well. (AND I'M NOT THE ONLY ONE GOING CRAZY HERE) When gaby was not available Dawn the receptionist would give me very short answers and I would only call sometimes just to talk to Gaby and let her know what is going on with me before I made the appointment. I know my english was not good but she made me feel like she did not want to talk to me. I called many times before to make sure the ibs treatment center wasn't a fake company that just takes your money. ( and FYI I actually heard Dawn telling Gaby to hang up yyje which I was assume was Dawn next to here telling her to hang up the phone because I was on the phone with gaby for too long)* But still isn't it your job to listen to me because I am suffering from this mess and to be positive that I am giving all my money to you guys to actually cure me and not just take my money??) If it wasn't for gaby I would've never made the appointment especially because I can relate to her. When I finally came in Dawn was the first face I saw, I asked for Gaby as she promised she will be there. I wanted to tell Gaby thank you for actually caring about me as a human. Not just money walking thru that door) Unfortunately I found out she was fired, Which makes me sad we need me Gabys that actually listen to the human of us and like I said not the money talking.) When I saw Dawn I asked a lot of question reassure myself i'm not wasting money. But she is just too short and very rude. I don't understand how her boss cannot see she really isn't friendly when it comes to potential patient asking questions some may be repeated but like I said we need to make sure if we are wasting our money to the right place. Just word of advice be more friendly. I own my own business and people like that will get fired real quick from office. I came to the IBS Treatment Center in Santa Monica a year and a half ago, after hearing about it on the radio. I have had stomach issues since I was a child, and have seen doctors on and off over the years for it. I was told time and time again that I had IBS, so I should eat a "bland" diet and just learn to live with it. Little did I know that a simple blood test could change everything! Yes, I found out that I am sensitive to a number of foods. I also discovered that many of them are the "bland" ones like bread & pasta(gluten). By eating this "bland" diet, I was making things worse and not realizing it. So with the help of Dr. Karen D'Huyvetter, I cut out the foods I was most sensitive to(in my case dairy, eggs, gluten, & almonds) and slowly things changed. It wasn't immediate, but over the course of 3-4 months, I started to feel much better with less stomach issues! I continue to take supplements prescribed by Dr. Huyvetter and visit the IBS for follow-up visits so they can check on my progress. Actual Medical Doctors will say the allergy testing they do isn't accurate anyway. I have had IBS for at least 5 years. when I talked to my GI and GP they said nothing could be done. I would have to live with it. I was afraid no I was terrified to leave the house in case I could not find a bathroom soon enough. I tried a variety of things, acupuncture, over the internet supplements, hypo-therapy. Nothing worked. I would take Imodium when ever I thought I would have a "problem". and Imodium has it's side effects. If I had an appointment in the am I would not eat. (I would usually have a "problem" after breakfast with the IBS D). while searching the web I came across the IBS center. I saw DR. Forghani and had blood and stool tested for allergies. She was very efficient, knowledgeable and did not push me into anything regarding the testing. I found out I had a yeast infection in my intestines and had to stay away from cane sugar and Brewers yeast.. I started the supplements and I have not had a "problem" with diarrhea since. expensive Yes well worth it YES! I can now leave the house and I am no longer fearful. I find Dr. Forghani very nice, pleasant, easy to talk to. ON our phone conferences she will go over the plan of care until I understand it. I can't say enough about her. About 10 yrs ago, I had a dinner that just would not digest fast enough. Even though I did not eat a large meal, I felt as though my stomach was going to burst. The next morning I had cramps and was a bit constipated. I went to my physician and he just recommended OTC medicines. These did not help. The only thing that seemed to help was Citrucel with meals. For the next 9 yrs I had to deal with cramps, at times diarrhea, mostly constipation, and uncomfortable bloating. After trying to find a remedy for my condition I came across the IBS Treatment Center located in Santa Monica. I found them with a simple web search. After reading their web page, I was a bit skeptical but was desperate to try anything at this point. I feel my IBS is a product of some kind of infection plus improper diet. I called and spoke to Dawn, one of the office assistants and she set me up with an appointment with Dr Diflorio. She asked many questions about my condition and suggested some blood tests to check on food allergies and came up with a plan to reset my digestive system as though I was rebooting my PC to resolve an issue. This is done mainly with diet and supplements. Although I am not 100% yet, many of the symptoms have regressed and as I continue with my plan I can see the results are paying off. I have full confidence that soon I will be able to live the life I had before this malady took away my mornings being spent in the restroom. I am about 70 % of normal and getting better. Dr Diflorio has great bedside manner and very knowledgeable, I can't say thank you enough to her. Dawn and Erica are great in the front office and always give exceptional help when I call for refilling my supplements. I am a 58 year old woman suffering with IBS since the age of 15. I have been to many gastro doctors over the years who run basically the same tests. I have swallowed the camera pill.. numerous colonoscopies, endoscopies, breath tests.. you name it. I have even gone to a Los Angeles' major medical center a few years ago. Nothing was found and various meds/supplements over several decades did nothing. My problem is chronic diarrhea. One gastro dr told me I could safely take as much pepto or Imodium as needed. Not a good solution and it did't help nearly enough!! As I get older, my problems were getting worse. My husband found the IBS Treatment Center on line and we decided to give it a try. THIS PLACE HAS CHANGED MY LIFE!! As the writer before me, I did the tests that were mentioned. The food sensitivity test is very different that an allergy test. The foods I can not tolerate were eliminated from my diet and within a few days, I began to see serious changes. This, alone, made me about 80% better.. I used to journal my eating & stress level to see if I could figure out what foods/bev were causing a problem. Sounds easy, right? What I found out by the food sensitivity testing is that some sensitivities will show up immediately and other can take up to 72 hours to flair. So writing down what you ate just does not work all the time. The other tests showed I was missing 2 certain type of probiotics as well as a suspected yeast over growth. Dr. Nelson sent me the two supplements needed to correct this portion of the problem. I am so happy with my new life.. My favorite thing to do is travel and as I have traveled over the years, it has been marred with this issue.. but now.. my traveling is so much more enjoyable. It will take my brain awhile to catch up to the fact that my stomach is so much better.. I still get nervous when out and about and not close to a bathroom..
