Signed up my kid for the Ice Town: Beginning Ice Skating Camp Beginning Ice Skating Camp. The Main Coach there was great but the supporting ones were most times talking to each other & not helping the kids. Very disappointed to see that the kids only had less than half of the 4 hour class time to actually be on the ice rink to practice. Even the other parents & kids complained about this & asked why the hockey camp had way more time on the ice than the Ice skating camp did. Hopefully this changes because I'm sure parents did not pay good money for their kids to be doing silly little games off the ice rather than practicing on the ice rink. read more

There are 2 rinks here. We came for the open public skating. I thought it was a bit overpriced. About $37 for 1 adult and 1 child, including skates. I'm not sure what the price is if you don't need skates. Very few lockers and benches to put your skates on. I was disappointed that they didn't use the Zamboni in the middle of the open skating. The ice was pretty rough by the end. It was fun for my son to watch some youth hockey games. Overall a fun time, & we'll be back. read more

There's not much info on their website in regards to public skating/prices, so I took a glance at their calendar and went by that. I probably should have called to confirm as we drove an hour to get there, but it's summer and every day is an adventure. We get there after a hot minute of traffic and driving in circles. We couldn't see visible signs for the rink, but just a hint, it's right next door to the super big police station. Parking was ample, didn't seem like it would be crowded. We head in and it looks like that have double rinks, but the one up front is being renovated and when I saw that I panicked until the girl at the window told us there was another rink in the back. I paid $39 for three of my kids (including a 5 year old) for open skate plus skate rentals, they do give military discount, it's a dollar off. Wow. Super pricey and I wish she had told me about their Groupon that expired that day, would have been a better deal, but she was nice and friendly. So was the kid at the skate area passing out the skates. He was really patient with my kids and helpful. They finally get their gear and skates on and get to the rink. I figured for the money I spent, they were gonna skate for the whole three hours which they did for the most part. It really wasn't that crowded which made it more enjoyable for them since they hadn't gone skating in at least a year and needed that time to get used to it. There was a moment when my oldest stepped off the ice to take a break and she was holding her baby brother. There was an old man that walked past, don't know who he is in regards to the ice rink, but he told my daughter to make sure she doesn't take the baby out on the ice. As I stood next to her! It would have been one thing if he was making a joke, but he was dead serious. I understand that it's a matter of safety, but what an insult to my intelligence! The kids had fun, but probably won't be back due to that remark and the prices. We will just take our business back down to Ice-Plex in Escondido! P.S. They had weights on the floor to hold down the lifting mat covered with safety cones. To me it's more dangerous and posts a bigger hazard of having an unsuspecting kid or adult trip over it! Not to mention my one year old could easily move it. P.P.S. This place is filthy! I had a Groupon and it had expired. I called the manager to see if he I could still use the price I paid (not the deal itself) towards admission. He flat out said no. In CA, the price paid for a Groupon never expires, even after the deal expires. It states that on the Groupon website as well as in the fine print on this "deal" on Groupon from Ice Town in Riverside. Yet the manager was rude and refused to honor what was stated on their fine print. I called Groupon and they said these are the types of things that cause them to stop patterning with a business. Groupon refunded my paid amount. Thank goodness Groupon is true to their word (and CA state law) unlike the manager of this ice rink. read more

This is, quite possibly, the most poorly designed rink I've ever been in when it come to game play for hockey. This review is just in regard to hockey game play, not regular skating for pleasure or figure skating. The ice is really the only part that is ok. Just ok. There are two rinks, which is great. More games at one time, right? Well, during those games, you can hear ALL THE BELLS AND WHISTLES FROM BOTH RINKS. I can't even tell you how many times our side hesitated every time a whistle blew or the buzzer rang ON THE OTHER RINK. There's a huge open space between the two, and with no wall, all the sounds carry. All of them. Super frustrating. The player benches are also crazy uncomfortable and oddly designed with METAL in places that come in contact with skate blades. Kids skates need to be resharpened after that debacle. If you have a locker room upstairs, be aware: the lower locker room door on the right, when opened, almost completely covers the exit to the stairs. The hinges are on the side closest to the stairs. Our players started to come down and exit and the lower level locker room door kept opening into them as kids exited that lower locker room, nearly knocking a few exiting the stairs down. Is there some reason the hinges aren't on the other side? Spectator benches were on the home side only- the bench only makes it to the red line, so you'll be craning to see the guest side as well as trying to get a view around the multiple poles in your way. One side of the benches is completely blocked by a railing so there is only one side to enter/exit. Seems like a potential hazard if there is a fire. Maybe the bench is movable? I don't know. The snack bar was just ok; the photos of items are misleading and there is an undisclosed credit card fee of 50 cents per transaction. Nowhere was that fee stated, not on the menu, the desk, or the register. The attendant also said nothing about the fee, just asked if we were using cash or credit and when we said credit, added 50 cents, which was when I asked if there was a fee and searched for some kind of disclosure (as required by law I believe). FYI for anyone ordering- the popcorn is a small to regular sized bag, not a bucket as the menu might imply. We ordered two corn dogs and fries and she didn't even give a plate, just handed one corn dog over (with her hand) on paper and stacked the other one on top of the fries (which were quite small and in one of those little checkered paper fry boxes). On the plus side, the rink is literally attached to the police station, so your car might be relatively safe from the drug addicts we encountered wandering the side street and the main street. I hope we never have to come back here. read more

We had purchased a Groupon which was a great deal but the ice rink itself could use some maintenance. The ice was very choppy, one would think they would go over it after switching sessions. Having kids skate after figure skaters wasn't ideal as there were huge chunks missing in the ice. Service was pretty much non existent and not the friendliest, you could tell they did not want to be there. My kids and I still had a great time and that's all that matters, but I would go to a different rink next time. read more

It's nice it's cheaper than other areas the only little thing is the skates do tend to hurt after 5 minutes so I recommend using double socks or very thick ones so it doesn't hurt so much and you can enjoy it .other than that everything was good . This place does not have accurate information on the website at the time of this review. Masks are required to enter but are not required on the ice per the website. While on the ice we were asked to put our masks on and they are unaware of the websites information. Also as far as skate rental is concerned. The rental skates are crap, everyone knows that. But the skates are not properly sharpened and if you are a beginner it is unsafe to skate with dull blades. All ice skaters know this. When I asked if there was anything sharpened the skate attendant said "probably not". Please sharpen the skates, for the sake of safety. I gave more than 1 star because the ice is maintained well, but other than that they have work to do. read more

Ice Town is a must-stop spot during the holiday season! I've been visiting Ice Town since middle school to skate during their public skating sessions. This rink always brings up instant nostalgia and is a ton of fun, even in my adulthood! If you're not a master skater this is also a safe place to get out on the ice and practice. You have the option to skate during the public sessions, but they also offer private classes for beginner skaters and for the more advanced. I would be sure to check the website in advance for their public skating schedule, typically the rink is open during the morning/early afternoon and late evening. While I usually visit during the Winter months, I would still recommend wearing warm clothes during the Summer - both thick socks and gloves are a must have. They have a small food court on site, but it definitely gets a little pricey. Instead, I like to visit some of the nearby restaurants at the Tyler Mall for some delicious eats after or before skating! read more

My son decided it wasn't for him, but my daughter just fell in love, and we have been taking lessons for a few months. She is just absolutely loving it! This is a pretty average ice skating rink. It's pretty big though because they have two rinks here. It's cold of course, some people don't understand this living in socal that it is a building full of ice. I've never seen both rinks used for open skating at the same time, usually one is running a practice or a game or something. The rentals from my experience are AWFUL. They aren't just uncomfortable, they will literally destroy your feet and leave you bloody. You can't survive a whole session with reantals here. This has been my experience every single time i've rented here, so you have been warned. Never bought anything food or drink wise here, so I can't comment on that. The music can sometimes be awful. I have seen like 3 children basically running the music there, so you can expect literally only Tiktok music 99% of the time if that is happeneing. The only other really big drawback is it is MASSIVELY overcrowded. They pack WAY to many people intto the open skating sessions. They have 2 rinks they should be using, but instead use one and throw hundreds of people on it. You can't really pass anyone, and if you try to cut through the center you might have your face slashed by people doing figure sktaing tricks in the center. So be careful there too. All in all it is a good time; I imagine even better if you have your own skates. They need to probably only allow half the amount of people they do in though so you can actually skate more than fear being run into or running into someone. And definitely get new rentals. read more

My daughter started taking basic ice skating lessons a few months ago through Riverside Parks and Recreation. Then she took a break, but recently wanted to continue. We were able to get her lessons paid for through her charter school! This place is pretty big and obviously cold, so make sure to prepare, but you get used to it. I wish they had better seating (with back support), but they have bleachers. The lessons aren't too long so I can manage. The coaches are nice and appear helpful during the lessons. My daughter loves learning to ice skate! She recently moved on to level 2. I'm glad this place is here and wish we could come more often so she could practice more. read more

Took my 3 little ones on a field trip to this place. There are signs all over that say you have to wear a mask at all times, but the second you get on the ice, you can take it off. Shocked at the amount of people without a mask, I asked if the mask mandate is enforced, and the woman at the window said "yeah, we don't enforce it"... Rental skates were pretty horrendous and run down, some had blood on them still. Customer service was super friendly but took a long time to get ice for an injury. It's a regular ice skating rink. The price is good ($14) and you even get the rental skates included. It's only usually busy during the weekend and Friday. It does get pretty crowded and the rink will get a bit "rusty" after a while since theirs a bunch of people. The snack bar is okay. Nothing too out of the ordinary. Decent ice rink. It's pretty clean, and they maintain their ice pretty well. The staff isn't the friendliest, but most ice rinks don't have super friendly staff. From what I've seen, they have a decent in-house league. If I still played hockey, I would definitely sign up. I inquired about employment here a few months back, but never got a response, but that's not really the fault of the staff. For some reason, their winter schedule is a lot thinner than their summer schedule. I really hope that they still offer the same amount of free skating sessions, because I'd like to start coming here more often when I get off of disability. read more

First time here and visited with two expired groupons. But they let me use the purchase price of my groupons to apply towards my rental and public session. We had soooo much fun!!! Called to confirm public session times, and loved how easy they were to find. Bundle up!!! Layers were easiest because I did work up a sweat. Place the stickers visibly on you, lace up, and off we go on the ice. Pretty busy afternoon but definitely able to enjoy the skating and watching some hockey action. There are some lockers to store your belongings, one-time use lockers took 4 quarters. Two rinks were available, but open skate was in the back rink. Fun music and we had a great time. Didn't visit the snack bar, so can't comment on that but overall experience was great and my son can't wait to go back. Found a good deal on Localflavor.com ($15 for admission for 2 + skate rental). Came here with my boyfriend for the public skating session and overall we had a good experience. Nothing to complain about. The ice was a little rough (probably because we came towards the later part of the afternoon before they were going to re-ice it for the pros) but not so much that we were constantly tripping. There were a good number of people without being super crowded on a Wednesday in late July around 2-4pm, which I was honestly pretty surprised there weren't more people since it was 100+ degrees outside. There's enough seating/benches for people to take a break without fighting for a spot, or if you want to just people watch. Overall I'd probably just come back if the deal is still available as it's the cheapest in the area, and not ridiculously crowded. read more

I signed my son up and he started Tuesday. Whoever took our registration information was really rude and gave us no direction. Just pointed to the arena and told him to go in there. He started his class and couldn't find an instructor to help him and ended up bawling his eyes out the first 15 minutes, because he was so lost and overwhelmed. It's not like he could skate around from group to group to find out where he goes, it's BEGINNERS. It was a horrible experience all together.
