I discovered a small dent on my car that occurred while it was parked. I went to Shalom auto body for a repair estimate. The estimate was outrageous for such a small dent, so I decided not to have it repaired. Today I found out that it was reported to CARFAX. There was no accident, no police report, no insurance claim, and no repair was done. This auto shop was the only place I went for an estimate. I highly recommend to stay away from this shady business. I wish I had never stepped my foot in there.

Seems like no body shop wanted to deal with an older vehicle, and many didn't want to deal with anything at all that wasn't an insurance claim. I was quoted "well over" $12,000 by one of the few shops that even give me a price. Lucky's did amazing work on my old warhorse. I would recommend them to anyone with an older or unique vehicle. They did absolutely outstanding work on both the paint and bodywork. If I ever need anything done again, I'm going back there first. Word of warning, though: be prepared to deal exclusively in cash. Not a huge deal, but good to know ahead of time!

After the service, I called mentioning that it wasn't looking finished yet, I was told that I should, myself, wait for 3 weeks then wet sand the area then wax it. If this was mentioned prior to the service I would be fine, but it wasn't. I guess to summarize my feedback: * Over-communicate what is and what isn't included on the service. * Make sure people understand what they are missing out for not going to a proper body shop space. * I'd suggest doing a second visit for so that the sanding and waxing can be done properly and so that any missing imperfections can be fixed. Instead, there was no call, no heads-up, nothing. I live just a few houses away and made it clear I needed a call so I could meet them immediately. Apparently the technician showed up early, knocked, waited, and left--without ever attempting to contact me. To make matters worse, the company then tried to shift the blame, claiming I was supposed to be there exactly at 12:30, which contradicts the window they originally gave. That's not how appointment windows work, and expecting customers to sit and wait without communication is completely unreasonable. After the confusion (which could have easily been avoided with a simple phone call), they refused to complete the service and told me to find another company. As a business owner myself, I would never treat customers this way. Poor communication, zero flexibility, and even worse customer service. Save yourself the headache and go elsewhere.
