Sunday night me ,my friend and her daughter went out to dinner. It didn't take long for them to take us to our table. We already knew what we wanted so we didn't look at the menu. So we all got Hella hot roll and added a salad for 1.95. Well that's what we thought...... We ate our food and talked and the waitress brought us our receipts. My friend looked at hers first. She goes I'm not paying for this salad. I was like why what's wrong. So then I looked at mine... 3.95 for a add on salad. So the waitress came back and so my friend said to her we always get thus and the salad isn't this price. We always pay 1.95. She said not anymore. Hasn't been for a couple of months.. My friend told her she should have told us. Cause we wouldn't have gotten the salad. So my friend asked for the manager. She said the manager was off that night but the assistant manager was there. She said okay I wanna talk to her. So she went and got her. So my friend talked to her. Basically the assistant manager told her either we pay it or it will come out of the waitress' check. So we were like okay so you would rather lose business instead of trying to fix this. We both said that we will post a bad review and let people know.... She didn't say I'm sorry let me fix this. It was like she didn't care at all.... So my friend told her that she would pay but the waitress wasn't getting a tip. And then the assistant manager left. Well my friend asked me how much money I needed to add to mine. Cause I had just enough for what I thought I was getting.. I told her nothing cause the waitress is gonna pay the rest of mine! So the waitress came by to get our money... She took my friends first. Then came back and got mine. I told her this is all u had.. That I had the right amount for what I thought I was paying for but since she didn't inform us that the add on salad wasn't 1.95 anymore that I didn't have the right amount. She said that's okay I'll pay the rest! So while we were waiting for the waitress to come get our money. I notice that they were starting to mop the floor. So I asked the girl if she could wait to do the part that we had to walk on to get outside. She said of course. I said thank you. Well a different girl got the mop to do another part of the restaurant.... BUT. She left water marks on the floor. I was like wow... They don't listen. Cause she was in the same room as the girl I was talking to. I had to make sure I didn't fall..... I really don't think we will be back. Tonight was my very first time trying Ichibar. I called my order in at 6:30pm and when I called I was left on hold for over 5 minutes, so I just hung up and called back. I finally got my order in. I ordered one chicken and shrimp hibachi & one chicken and steak hibachi. Extra white sauce. I went to go pick it up the total was around $30. I wouldn't pay that much again for knock off hibachi. The food was ok. I'm not really pleased with bagged rice with peas and carrots. Nothing like real hibachi. I'm not really sure if I'd go back. read more

Okay place to eat...this is the closest hibachi place to me. There service is usually great if we get one particular waitress, the others are just okay. My only two complaints are the tables are always sticky and the food is always lukewarm and not hot..kind of like they just stuck it in a microwave. read more

I eat here quite frequently, love the sushi, food is decent considering we don't have anywhere else to get sushi or hibachi locally. Staff, however, I've had several issues with. On my previous visit the waitress would run away before I could even finish asking for everything I needed. I've also called in orders and had a male employee be very short on the phone, sighing when I stated that I needed to place an order. It was as if he had better things to do. As a Japanese food addict, I was desperately seeking something close to what I had become accustomed to in New York and Phoenix. Excellent Japanese restaurants in both cities, by the way. Since moving to Henderson, I have found limited choices when it comes to ethnic food, and I was excited to hear about Ichibar. I went in hoping for halfway decent and was pleasantly surprised. It is now my favorite Henderson eatery. The sushi is really good. The hibachi items are great, and the portions (coming from a thick girl here) are very large. The Green Tea Icecream is wonderful. I love the Miso soup. The Gyoza is my favorite. I am still searching for some place like Tokyo Express in Phoenix (I miss the sukiyaki bowls), but this place is a good fix when you're sick of country-style buffets, southern food and barbeque. read more

Been coming here since they opened. The food is usually good however the serve can be hit or miss. They have gotten better lately. The sushi is good and I've tried everything they have to offer. It's strip mall sushi so don't come looking for the best sushi ever but it want kill you either!!! Great place to try sushi and not brake the bank. I've been to/bought takeout from Ichibar quite a few times, and I'll admit, when they first opened up, the quality was good, but over time, it has degraded significantly in the way of freshness of the food, to the point where I don't really care to go there anymore. When it comes to sushi, you don't want to wonder how fresh it is, you want to know its fresh. I've gotten sushi from Ichibar a few times, and it had that "fishy" smell to it, the kind that you smell when seafood isn't fresh. I simply defaulted to the Hibachi chicken the last couple times I ate there, and the portion sizes just don't seem to be what they used to be, but its still enough for a meal or two. I've eaten out at Akashi in Durham (near 55), and its now impossible for me to revisit Ichibar. If you are in the henderson area, and want GOOD Japanese food, do yourself a favor and take a trip to Akashi, or somewhere else for that matter. Their lunchtime special is off the hook. For about seven dollars you can eat like a king. The food is always delicious and they even take call in orders. Dining in I've always had an excellent experience. I once went with some friends and had this waiter give exceptional service. He had us laughing and carrying on and we had a ball. We did have a little bit of a negative experience during that trip. The manager essentially blessed out our waiter in front of us and was extremely rude to him. We all left him a pretty sizable tip because he gave us great service and she was so horrible towards him. She made a rude comment about him "really cleaning up"when she saw how much we left them. Worst restaurant experience, ever. After a hour and fifteen minutes our sushi finally arrived. Two of the four rolls were served incorrectly. When the server was told of the error, she quickly went to the sushi chef to let him know. The server returned with the same two rolls stating "this is the Evergreen Roll and the Spicy Tuna Crunch roll". We requested the menu and showed the server where those were not the rolls ordered and they were taken away. At this point we requested to speak to the manager, our check and our food to go. The manager never came out, we had to go to the register to retrieve the ticket and only one roll was corrected. They simply repackaged the same incorrect roll. When explaining our dissatisfaction, we were told the manager was not in and the person in charge didn't come to talk with us as "he doesn't speak good English". The reason provided for the wait and incorrect rolls were a new ticket system and a new sushi chef. Both the server and the lady at the register expressed their dissatisfaction, provided a number of excuses, yet did not offer any solutions. Our "quick"lunch turned into a hour and forty-five minute debacle. The two rolls served correctly were tasty; the experience and the customer service left much to be desired. After being seated it was a good 15 min. before we flagged down someone to take out order. It was another 15 before the drinks came. Service was good. Tuna roll was great. Fried rice was average but the white sauce helped it a lot. Had a bento box. Teriyaki chicken is what made the review lose 2 stars. Chicken was rubbery and the sauce was ehhh. But a good sushi roll made the experience worthwhile. I got the salad which was just a bag of ice burg mix from Walmart and the gyoki. Average. Great food. Amazing food. I LOVE THE FOOD. but, it's better to get your order to go...couldn't find a decent table in the restaurant. After hopping around searching for a clean, non greasy, non sticky mixture...I settled for keeping my elbows and arms completely off the table. Ive been 3 times in the last 2 weeks. Got sushi each time, always fresh and tasted great. Fairly slow though.

The food is decent but the service leaves much to be desired. As this is our second similar situation, about a year ago we decided to head out for hibachi during my husbands lunch break. After an hour post ordering we asked about our food and our server gave some spill about how the chicken takes a very long time to cook. Really, just admit you forgot to put the order in. We decided to go back last night and sat again for over an hour before another server, not our own came by and asked if we were waiting on anything. The server again had forgotten to put our order in and the manager at least owned up to it. However, with many excuses. Two times we've ended up at a fast food restaurant after leaving do that we could actually eat. The entire time we sat there last night not a single table got bused. Something about dirty dishes on every table really makes the restaurant look dirty. We will make the drive to Raleigh or Durham in the future. read more

The food is good and the service is friendly and attentive. The prices are definitely reasonable for the serving size of the Hibachi dishes, and the sushi won't break you either. My favorite dish there is definitely the "Hella Hot Roll" and lots of friends are fans of it too. The Food is good - somewhat over priced but acceptable if service and food are timely,correct and good. The problem is LACK OF SERVICE ! We have gone 4 times in the last several months - The first time everything was OK - waitress was helpful since I was unfamiliar of some of the menu items The other 3 times were TERRIBLE ! Once the person cleaning the tables got our drinks and the ones for the table next to us since no waitress was in sight and one could not be located. Other tables near us were also waiting and waiting and waiting ... Another time the waitress sent our plates by another employee ( one plate was incorrect )- NO ONE refilled our drinks nor brought requested sauces/condiments to our table . The last time we were seated by a crazy woman ! We said "2 people" and she sat us at a booth for 4 and asked when the other members of our party would be arriving . Then we sat for 15 to 20 minutes waiting for a waitress - we finally got up and walked out . We do not know why we were ignored- we were not seated in the back - we were seated in the where everyone walked right by us going to other sections/booths/tables( right under one of the TVs) . The place was not packed- several booths/tables and the private rooms were available. Not sure will will try this place again . We are very disappointed ... read more

Sit with Kristie, she's awesome. The hibachi chicken is awesome. If you want to go, definitely go at lunch time. Prices are a little steep for supper. Food also seems to have more flavor when you eat in rather than take out. Although it's the only hibachi place in the area, its still able to compete with the Raleigh area Japanese restaurants. Food excellent service however awful sad to say! We were seated after waiting several minutes I don't understand why because they weren't packed God forbid! A gentleman there was helping other guest while the free waitress peeked around the corner watching us stand there waiting to be seated. After finally being seated we were told that another young lady was going to wait on us..............we sat there for several minutes no waitress and the young lady that left us sitting ends up taking a couples order that came in way after us! Then she finally decides to come back to our table and ask can she take our order which she should of did from the beginning! You don't leave a customer just hanging like that! You help even if their not in your section!!!!! She took our order didn't write anything down than came back to ask us twice what did we order???? Like I said the food was excellent once it finally arrived! The lettuce could've been drained I did have to pour out a nice little puddle Lol! But that's cool!! I want to start this review with the fact that my boyfriend and I eat out quite a bit and this review may be a bit bias according to the normalcy of where we frequent. Having said so we were on a trip passing through Henderson and we looked for restaurants nearby. First indication that should have been a warning was that all surrounding restaurants are fast food chains or the occasional mom and pop restaurant. I have nothing against the mom and pop restaurants but we are trying to eat healthier so we went with the only Japanese restaurant in the town. (This should have been the second indication) We were really craving some lettuce wraps, yet they are not only not on the menu but when we asked for them the server was oblivious. Before ordering I had to use the ladies room. On my way from the indoor terrace-like seating in the front to the restroom in the back I passed through the big dining area where I was met with a new smell. Most people get "crop dusted" when sitting... I was more "fogged" while in motion with a foul smell whose origin I was unsure. Once I got to the bathroom I realized it was just the dining room. (third reason why we should have known it was not a good idea) Two teriyaki chickens later (Server recommended) my boyfriend and I were arguing over if the chicken was real or not. We had come to the conclusion it was low quality chicken that had been boiled and then lightly sauteed with vegetables. One up side, the vegetables were great! We both ate around the chicken. Now after spending $25 on this quite poor to (modestly) fair quality meal I'm in the car for another couple hours feeling stomach cramps unsure if I'm going to be sick or not. So in short if you are thinking about stopping in Henderson for some Japanese keep driving... Or maybe just stick to sushi. Everyone else seems to think that's good. read more

I work in Henderson and have always loved the Hibachi specials. It had been a while since I had been there and could not wait to get my Hibachi Chicken!!!! Well, when the plate was delivered....the chicken did not look right...it had a thick glaze over the chicken - where Hibachi does not....So I tasted the chicken and it was teriyaki - no doubt about it....I told the waitress I ordered Hibachi - she took it back to the kitchen and I hear loud voices...she returned with the same dish and told me the "guy" said it was Hibachi....well excuse me but I know the difference between Hibachi and Teriyaki....I hate teriyaki....I told her I was not eating it...She said the "bottles" of seasoning were side by side and he swore it was Hibachi....I was very upset and did not want to cause a scene - so I ate the rice and left the veggies and chicken...I asked for a to go box.....Brought this back to work and everyone said it was Teriyaki....That was my last trip to Ichibar along with our entire workforce....And yes....I was charged for the dish!!!!!
