Had an excellent meal here while in town. Greeted with a smile walking in and seated all within the same interaction and few moments. A mediterranean style interior with an Italian influence. High ceilings, and lots of art on the walls. A tv with sports playing up by the bar area. Our kind and friendly server came by our booth within a minute or so and took our drink requests and got our appetizer going all at the same time. For starters we went with the Fried Calamari, this is first rate golden brown, tender to the bite and juicy with a great marinara for dipping. Some of the best we have had around. We gave the menu a good look over, a well rounded menu with something for pretty much every taste. I opted for the Austrailian Chicken, with bacon, mushrooms and cheddar along a nice rustic potato mash with a side green salad. The chicken was very good, nicely prepared with a unique finish. Tender and flavorful, two grilled boneless breasts covered with bacon. This is a hearty meal, great flavor and a fair value for the serving. My partner had the Chicken Pot Pie, a beautiful presentation and well prepared. A large serving with a flaky baked crust topping. She said it was very good as well. They have a pretty good dessert selection too, I went for the Heath bar cheese cake and it was exceptionally good. We were there to meet an old friend so we mostly just talked. However, our waitress made sure our drinks were topped off and our every need was met. I didn't have super high expectations for this little eatery in Henderson. We are in beautiful country, but out in what seems like the boonies. What a surprise I had in a very good way! First off, this spot is cozy and rustic, from the antique wooden bar to the brick walls and Turkish lights and carpets. We were immediately greeted and while our host started to escort us to a table, we asked if we could sit at the bar. Of course, was her reply. We took our seats and Melissa came out to give us menus and take our drink order. We went in thinking of sharing a small pizza so I was looking for a glass of red wine to accompany it. I asked Melissa for a glass of Cabernet, but they didn't have any. She told me what they did have and I asked for a small taste of the blend which she happily provided. It was good, so I decided to have a glass. We asked for her recommendations as it is always fun to get the staff's opinion on menu items and she replied that everything is good, but she especially likes the Australian Chicken. We asked about the pizzas and she recommended the George's special and told us we would love it. Sold (although I would really like to go back and try the chicken). The pizza was delivered hot, fresh and flavorful. Toppings included pepperoni, sausage, ground beef, onion, green pepper and mushrooms. The ratio of sauce on the pizza was just perfect and so tasty. Toppings still had that slight crisp that I love. The crust looked a bit thicker, but was not. It was crunchy outside, but had a wonderful softness to the inside that I loved and a great flavor. Usually, I discard crusts, but I munched on these. We were offered Parmesan and red pepper flakes. Those red pepper flakes packed some heat! Great food and wonderful service in an interesting setting. An old brick building with very high ceilings, and cross beams adorned with Turkish lanterns and rugs. Jessa, our server was amazing, a great waitress as well as funny and kind. She constantly checked to be sure we were ok, our glasses were always full. The food was delicious, fresh, served hot and clearly made with care. I had the Olympia pasta with chicken, it was delish, my husband's steak sandwich was very tasty as well, just a lot of food. Lastly prices are very reasonable. To add chicken to my pasta was $3.00, and it was a ton of moist tender chicken. We will absolutely return to this gem. Dine in | $10-20 1. Ordered the Honey Mustard Crunch salad with no fried onions, or green peppers. My partner ordered the Chicken Bacon Wrap with no tomato and a side of fries. About 10 minutes after ordering we received our food. The chicken on my salad was hot and fresh. The overall taste of the salad was impeccable. Between the crisp fresh lettuce, the crunch from the croutons, and the chicken being nice and hot the salad was amazing. My partner had no complaints about the wrap or the fries. She was completely aware of our modifications we asked for our food. Visit 27 SEP 2024 @1330 We were on our way to Wake Forest Univ. from Maryland, this was our lunch stop. As we were parking the radio blared a tornado warning for the area. Fortunately forecasters are as good at what they do as I am at video golf, so... This seems to be a local hotspot. It is a little hard to find driving by if you don't know the area, small parking lot. The sign from main road is not clear, especially with a tractor trailer blocking the entrance. We sat inside at a high table near the entrance, but there is a patio area. The decor is uncertain, we were puzzled by the hanging rugs and interesting light fixtures. I heard some greek and Spanish in the kitchen, a good sign. If there is a theme and direction to the interior design it is muddy at best. Set design aside, we had a good lunch, our server Melissa, was pleasant and efficient. The menu is a mix of southern dishes and basic sandwiches. My wife had a Rueben, I had a Club sandwich. The fries were very good, slightly battered. Our sandwiches were well put together, wife liked the sauerkraut forward, which was okay with her. My sandwich was well balanced, a bit light on meat variety [ham, light turkey, didn't notice bacon] but what was there was fresh. Instead of the classic triangles (which can be a hassle) this one was in halves. The bathroom that I visited was small, single use, and dated, but it was clean and well functioning. From what I could tell, and I look, the place was pretty well kept overall, if a little aged. If we were in the area again, or local we would certainly come back with some regularity. After a meeting downtown, it was suggested that we check out George's. This must be the locals' local spot as tons of people picking up orders as well as eating inside. We were quickly seated at a table and settled in. I checked out their menu while glancing at the large and colorful plates go by. Their menu was a mix of southern favorites such as jambalaya and as well as ribs, burgers, wings, and a variety of salads. I decided to get the spinach pie that came with a Greek salad. I did not know what I was in for as about 20 minutes later, our waitress, who was super attentive and kept our drinks full, brought me my food. I received a tower of Greek salad along with two slightly crispy pieces of spinach pie. It took me a few moments to take all of this in. I picked up my fork and dived into the salad first. Crisp, refreshing, and so fresh. I loved the large pieces of bell pepper as well as the olives, feta, and mixed greens. Did I mention how fresh it was?!? Now to the pie, it was nothing like I've had before. A slight saltiness and crispness and paired with the tzaiki sauce coolness. I had to stop and, of course, take my leftovers with me. The salad made an amazing dinner later on, btw! I see why this place is so busy! The food is amazing and fairly priced, the service phenomenal, the restaurant is pretty large. Why are there lima beans in the pot pie? Stopped here visiting family but left a little unimpressed while the food is passable the prices are too high for the quality. If you are in the area give it a try they do give large portions and the options are slim in the area but don't go expecting top tier food. Also we had some pretty terrible service server didn't return or ask how things were going for long periods of time. The vibe of the place seems like they should be serving barbecue food or bar food it's not terrible but nothing too memorable either overall I'd give this place a 2.5/5. George's of Henderson is housed in the old train station and the seating is somewhat limited by its size. They have a decent selection of food like pizza, burgers, salads, pasta, wraps and much more. Service is typically on point. There is an outside dining area that's screened in. The house chips are made to order. BTW, I bring my own ranch dressing. Not fond of theirs. read more

They have a front outdoor seating area, which has been cases in, but certainly tooooo cold to sit outside-this time of the yr. . The inside remind me of a little Italy. :-) It's cozy and relaxing setting. Our waiter was very sweet and accommodating (shoot, forgot to get his name). They were short staffed (like all restaurants over the world), but they made it look easy. We didn't lack for anything. . Nowwww- let's talk about those homemade chips!!! My goodness! Those suckers are DELICIOUS!!! I'm talking not just "good", but GOODT- GOODT!Ha! I couldn't stop eating them!!! They were hit and crunchy! They come with a side of ranch dipping sauce. I could have those as a meal by themself. Ughhhh they were so good!!! Yeah - I'll be back JUST to sit down and munch on those. My salad was very fresh. My hubby likes his meal also. We stopped by tonight for dinner. Sat at the bar and ordered drinks. My husband had a craft pilsner and I settled for Coke. Dinner consisted if steak quesadilla for him and chicken parm for me. The food was good and hot when it came out of the kitchen! The chicken parm came out with two cutlets and much more pasta than I could ever eat! The bartender was attentive and checked on us throughout service. The atmosphere was nice with exposed brick walls and beams across the ceiling. George's - chef's kiss! We were in Henderson today to buy a car and once we were done, it was time for lunch. Checked restaurants in the area and went with George's. It was...amazing! The building, the decor...the FOOD! We started with calamari with low expectations. Y'all - that homemade chunky marinara wanted to make us lick the bowl clean. He got the Shrimp and Grits - the best he has ever had, even having had the dish all along the NC and SC coasts (and homemade, they blew mine out of the water). I chose the seemingly simple sirloin - a safe bet anywhere - and it blew my socks off! The flavor was, well, fantastic. And y'all need to try those homemade chips! Those are worth the trip all on their own. We are an hour from Henderson and are looking for reasons to go back just to visit George's again. I ordered 2 chicken pot pies. The menu on yelp says it comes with a side salad only. When I ordered George's told me no salad comes with it. I show them the yelp menu and they said they don't use yelp anymore. No one even offered to help us out with giving us a salad. I could have bought salads but it's the point that no one even offered. Hmmmm... Where to begin. It was birthday, my family, my lady, and I visited George's while in North Carolina. What I will say is, I enjoyed the restaurants decor. I'm a fan of fish, and the tank was beautiful. I got the Salmon dish and it was ... Meh, at best. The Salmon was dry, you could tell that the calamari was frozen, and the bartender argued us down when we told her we couldn't taste the vodka in each of our drinks(I'm not a complainer). With that being said, my Parents - who had been there before - ordered Pizza that was excellent. So maybe I over thought it? Maybe I should've just ordered the pizza. I was pleasantly surprised after several bad experiences in Henderson. Called ahead for a to-go pizza. Grabbed a small veggie pizza with minimal cheese. Arrived about 10 minutes later and my pizza was already on the way out. I was happy to see that they actually did minimal cheese. The crust was fresh and tasty, not oily at all. The veggies were abundant and fresh, my only ding on the food is that you have to cook veggie pizzas differently or the water from the veggies will saturate the dough which was the case with this pizza. read more
